Grey's mind was racing, considering the question concerning his skill, [Essence Plunderer].
The description had always said it could steal the abilities of a defeated "foe."
But did that include humans?
He clenched his fist, feeling the adrenaline course through his veins.
'It had to.'
He was about to find out, one way or another.
Grey scanned the group of masked killers in front of him. There were nine of them left, including their leader, who had stepped forward with a commanding presence. The man's mask was different from the others, more intricate and menacing, as if he wanted everyone to know he was in charge. The others seemed to move in sync with him, forming a ring around Grey, cutting off any easy escape.
Grey narrowed his eyes, sizing them up. Did these masks serve a purpose beyond intimidation? Or were they just trying to look "cool" and menacing, hiding their faces as if that would give them the edge?
