Chapter 112 - Chapter 111

Kara's life had returned to a peaceful routine. While some might assume the DC universe was constantly filled with disasters and dangers, it wasn't always that way — though Gotham City was an exception.

Kara was from Metropolis, where things weren't as chaotic as in Gotham, and there was no Arkham Asylum equivalent lurking around every corner. This city had a reputation for being transparent and trustworthy.

Meanwhile, Kara's culinary column had taken off. Since her first article on a unique delicacy went viral, she'd become a popular food critic with a devoted readership. Every column she published was eagerly awaited by fans eager to try new recipes. Her dishes featured flavors from all around the world, giving readers a chance to taste specialties from distant lands without ever leaving Metropolis.

The impact of Kara's column spread beyond her readers. Local business owners recognized a unique opportunity, keeping a close watch on her latest recipes to anticipate trends. If Kara's column focused on a unique chicken dish, for example, poultry sales would soar the next day. Her culinary influence was powerful, shaping tastes and even altering market prices in Metropolis.

In her personal life, Kara had been keeping tabs on Clark's budding relationship with Lois. She was fully supportive of Clark pursuing Lois, especially now that sparks seemed to be flying between them. However, Clark, endearingly shy, would blush whenever Kara teased him about Lois.

During this peaceful time, Kara found herself traveling occasionally to Gotham City, where her friend Jennifer had moved. Nearly a year had passed since the chaos of the Joker incident, and Jennifer, now romantically involved with Bruce Wayne, had fully embraced Gotham as her home. Just a few months ago, she had given birth to a baby boy, Damian Wayne. Naturally, Kara was named the boy's godmother, a title that made her heart swell with pride.

Jennifer, the Chief Justice of Gotham City, had married Bruce quietly, preferring a modest wedding ring over Bruce's original, more extravagant idea. For Jennifer, being an official in Gotham meant maintaining a modest public appearance, even if she was now Mrs. Wayne.

Meanwhile, other significant events continued to unfold in Gotham. Joker had been locked away in Arkham Asylum, deemed criminally insane, and assigned a psychiatrist — a young woman named Harleen Quinzel. Kara recognized the name, but couldn't quite place why it sounded familiar. Little did she know that Harleen would later become known as Harley Quinn.

As for Kara herself, she was content with her life, focused on her culinary career and her friendships. Love didn't appeal to her in the same way it might to others. After all, she was in a universe full of fictional characters — falling in love with them felt pointless.

Yet, with Damian in her arms, she couldn't help but feel a deep affection, treating him as if he were her own child. And she could envision her other friend, Dani, wanting children someday, perhaps a daughter. Dani, however, had been elusive lately. When Kara tried to call, it often went unanswered. Eventually, though, Dani returned the call, explaining she'd been at a secure facility.

Kara's curiosity was piqued. "So, what's going on? What's keeping you so busy?"

After a pause, Dani replied, "I can't say much, but I'll tell you something if you promise not to share it. Kara, we've discovered...an alien."

Kara blinked in surprise, slightly amused since she herself was an alien. But she soon realized Dani wasn't talking about her or Clark.

"The alien isn't alive," Dani continued. "We're studying its remains."

With a hint of curiosity, Kara asked, "What did it look like?"

"It looked humanoid... wearing a green outfit," Dani answered mysteriously.

Kara couldn't help but wonder.
