Facing Rachel, who had chosen to be with Harvey, Bruce found it difficult to accept the situation.
Unable to bear the emotional weight, he avoided eating and instead ran off, seeking escape. Kara and Jennifer, caught in the situation, had no choice but to leave temporarily.
Bruce, driving his supercar, was clearly distracted, prompting Kara to take over the wheel midway. Forcing Bruce into the backseat, she remarked sharply, "Driving after drinking? Do you have a death wish? We're not planning to die with you."
Jennifer, sitting beside her, retorted, "Didn't you drink, too?"
Kara shot a pointed glance at Jennifer and then at Bruce, who was now slumped in the backseat. Looking through the rearview mirror, she muttered, "Getting distracted over someone before they're even married?"
Bruce, however, remained quiet, still shaken. After defeating Ra's al Ghul and saving Gotham City, Rachel had sought him out, finally revealing that she knew he was Batman. At the time, she even kissed him, acknowledging his heroic actions. For a brief moment, Bruce thought they had a chance together.
But Rachel rejected him, saying they might reconnect when he was no longer Batman. Bruce had held onto those words, only to now see Rachel move on with someone else before he had a chance to give up the cowl.
Rachel had always admired those who embodied justice and integrity. Both her ex-boyfriend and Harvey were men of such character. But in her eyes, Bruce, despite his actions as Batman, fell short in the daylight.
Even so, Bruce was Bruce. He shook off the blow and called Alfred while they were still on the road.
Alfred, the only servant in Bruce's household, knew more about being a father and mother to him than anyone else. From preparing his meals to tidying his bedding, Alfred handled it all. Now, Bruce was asking him to prepare dinner despite not having eaten anything earlier.
Before Bruce could finish his request, Kara interrupted over the speakerphone, "Just prepare the ingredients, Alfred. I'll cook. Bruce, don't overwork him—he's not getting any younger. Maybe think about settling down and having a kid to help him out?"
Alfred's voice rose, humor evident, "Miss Kara, does this mean you're volunteering? Splendid news!"
The car swerved slightly, and Kara groaned, "Not me, Alfred. But I'll find someone more suitable."
Jennifer blushed and cast a shy glance at Bruce, who offered a wry smile. His emotional wounds were still fresh, and now these two were teasing him about marriage. It was almost surreal.
Instead of answering, Bruce changed the subject. "Just prepare the ingredients, Alfred. I think there's still Wagyu beef in the fridge, right?"
Alfred confirmed, "Indeed, sir. You had more than a dozen flown in a while back."
Kara muttered under her breath, "Damn capitalists." Airlifting a dozen Wagyu cattle? Even for Bruce, that was excessive.
They soon arrived at Wayne Manor. Kara, familiar with the route, took full advantage of the supercar's speed, flooring the gas pedal. The car roared through the near-empty streets at nearly 300 kilometers per hour, terrifying the passengers.
Bruce glanced at the speedometer in disbelief. "Kara, slow down!"
But Kara ignored their protests, focusing on the road ahead. The car's performance was impeccable—fitting for someone of Bruce's status.
When they finally reached the manor, Kara took a moment to admire its restored beauty. The manor had been rebuilt to its original grandeur, down to the smallest detail.
Bruce stepped out, nodding to her words of congratulations. "Thank you. Welcome."
The door creaked open, and Alfred greeted them, ever the dutiful host. "Are you planning to chat outside all night?" he quipped.
Bruce smiled faintly and gestured for the others to enter. "Welcome to Wayne Manor, ladies."
Jennifer, regaining her usual humor, joked, "It doesn't look like Dracula's castle, at least."
Kara shook her head at the lighthearted comment but refrained from responding. As they stepped inside, she couldn't help but admire the meticulous effort that had gone into preserving the manor's original design. Every corner of the castle seemed reborn, even if some priceless artifacts had been replaced with replicas.
Walking through the hall, Kara clapped her hands. "All right, I'm heading to the kitchen. Jennifer, why don't you give Bruce a tour?"
Kara winked at Jennifer before disappearing with Alfred. Jennifer hesitated, then took a deep breath and smiled at Bruce.
Bruce noticed but said nothing, though he couldn't help but find their antics amusing.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Alfred glanced at Kara with a knowing look. "Is Miss Jennifer the candidate you mentioned earlier?"
Kara nodded. "What do you think? Perfect match for the Wayne family, right?"
Alfred sighed dramatically. "Miss Kara, I always thought you were the most suitable choice."
Kara waved him off. "Don't start with me, Alfred."
