"Hello, Mr. Zane! This is Wang Heng from Hengli Gold Store on Qiyi Road. Do you remember me?" Boss Wang said, his voice full of respect and flattery.
There was a brief pause on the other end of the line, as if Mr. Zane was trying to remember who he was. Just when Boss Wang started to feel uneasy, worried that Mr. Zane had forgotten him, a calm voice finally responded.
"Oh, Hengli Gold Store! Yes, we've worked together before. We're still business partners, aren't we?" Mr. Zane's voice was young but steady.
"Ah, I wouldn't call myself a partner! You're too kind, Mr. Zane!" Wang smiled when he heard those words, though he tried to sound modest.
After all, Mr. Zane ran a well-known gold and silver jewelry company across Henan Province, with Jinfuyuan stores all over. It was said that the Zane family's total wealth exceeded 10 billion yuan, making them incredibly rich.
In comparison, Wang's small gold shop, worth only a few million, was no match.
"As long as you do business with Jinfuyuan, you're one of our partners!" Mr. Zane replied politely. He then asked, "So, what did you call me about, Boss Wang?"
Being the general manager of Jinfuyuan(Jewelry Company), Zane didn't have time for small talk with the owner of a tiny gold shop.
Understanding this, Boss Wang quickly got to the point. "Mr. Zane, I have a friend who recently acquired a piece of dog head gold weighing over 2,000 grams. He's looking for a buyer. Are you interested?"
"Over 2,000 grams of dog head gold?" Mr. Zane's interest piqued. Dog head gold was extremely rare and highly sought after by the wealthy and collectors alike. Even his father owned a piece, though it weighed less than 4 kilograms.
"Boss Wang, why don't you bring your friend over to our company with the gold? We can meet and discuss things in person," Mr. Zane suggested.
Hearing this, Boss Wang knew Mr. Zane was serious about the offer, and he quickly agreed. "Yes, Mr. Zane! We'll head over to your company right away. See you in a few minutes!"
After hanging up, Boss Wang immediately called Jason Liu.
"Boss Wang, did you find someone interested in the gold?" Jason Liu asked as soon as he picked up the phone.
"Of course! I'm Wang, aren't I? I always deliver!" Boss Wang boasted for a moment, then started complaining about how much effort it took to find a buyer, as if he had done something extraordinary.
Jason Liu, listening to Boss Wang's grumbling, realized the man was fishing for some extra compensation. According to tradition, anyone who makes an introduction in such deals is usually entitled to an intermediary fee. Understanding this, Jason interrupted, "Boss Wang, I know the rules. You'll get 5% of the selling price as a fee. How does that sound?"
"Ah, Brother Liu, you're a generous man, hahaha..." Fatty Wang's tone brightened immediately. He didn't waste any more time and said, "We're meeting at Jinfuyuan Jewelry Company in the International Trade Center. The buyer I found for you is none other than their general manager, Zane Boting. Do you know Jinfuyuan?"
"Of course! It's the biggest gold and silver jewelry company in our province. There are Jinfuyuan stores in my hometown too. They're a huge business!" Jason Liu was genuinely surprised. He hadn't expected Fatty Wang to have such strong connections.
"Well then, bring your gold, and I'll meet you downstairs at Jinfuyuan Company. Let's not keep Mr. waiting," Fatty Wang reminded.
"No problem. I'm on my way," Jason Liu replied, ending the call.
He took out a piece of dog head gold weighing 2.54 kilograms from his stash. Since Boss Wang was going to take a 5% cut from the deal, Jason Liu decided to bring only this piece to test the waters, rather than trading everything at once.
After packing the gold in a shoebox, he hailed a taxi and headed to Jinfuyuan Company in the city center.
Traffic in Zheng City was heavy, and it took nearly an hour to travel from the outskirts to the International Trade Center. As soon as Jason got out of the taxi, carrying the shoebox, he saw Fatty Wang waiting at the entrance of Jinfuyuan.
"Brother Liu, you're so slow!" Fatty Wang complained as he hurried over.
"I couldn't help it. The traffic was terrible!" Jason Liu replied with a helpless smile.
"Alright, alright, let's go. We shouldn't keep Mr. Zane waiting," Fatty Wang said, urging Jason to follow him inside.
As they walked, Wang couldn't resist commenting, "Brother, you've got millions, yet you don't even have a car? It's such a hassle without one!"
"I'm planning to buy one soon, maybe even a luxury sports car. I just need a bit more money," Jason Liu laughed.
"A luxury sports car? You young guys really know how to live it up! I've been driving my Mercedes for years, but I can't afford one of those!" Fatty Wang said with a bit of admiration.
After they registered at the front desk, a call was made to the general manager's office. Mr. Zane's secretary instructed them to go straight up.
The pair took the elevator to the 18th floor, where a smartly dressed young woman, Mr. Zane's secretary, greeted them and led them to his office. As they walked, Fatty Wang nudged Jason and whispered, "Check out the secretary of a big boss—quite the beauty, huh?"
