Olivia returned after the break and left Jared. Jenna, on the other hand, went Jared to aid him as she saw how troubled he was.
"U-uhm..."
Jenna's hands are full of perfume bottles, and Jared appears to be far from finished, but she chooses to follow along. He grabbed the bottle and handed it to Jenna, not glancing at the price. "I like the scent. Give me four bottles of these"
After choosing several bottles, he went to the counter while Jenna was punching the total amount for Jared. She could not help but glance at him scrolling through his phone with a frown.
"Sir. The total amount is 375,200"
Jared took out his card and placed it on the counter with his eyes fixed on his phone.
Krriinngg!
Jenna swallowed her saliva while staring at the black card in her hand then glanced at Jared who was answering the phone.
'i never thought he was a wealthy young master. I wonder where Olivia met him'
The rest of the female staff stood in awe as they stared at him. Regrets filled their hearts but it's already too late.
Meanwhile, Jared picked up his phone and swiped the screen to answer.
"Mr. Nordy"
"Mr. Hale. I already held an appointment for the previous owner of the shopping district. He is eager to meet you so he sets the meeting for tomorrow. If you have time, i will accompany you myself to him"
"No need. I will go there myself. You are busy dealing with paperwork about my request so i won't bother you anymore. Just tell me what the hospital and room number are. I will go there myself"
"Of course. He is in Central Medical Hospital, room 16"
Jared was keen to keep everything in place to complete the work at hand, but if the procedure of handling the rental money failed, he had no choice but to turn to one final option.
"Sure. Thank you, Mr. Nordy"
The conversation ended without anything particular aside from the appointment meeting. He then slid his phone in his pocket and faced the counter.
"Thank you for your purchase"
He nodded and took out a ten thousand bill and placed it at the counter. "thanks, your tip. I will pick up the item later"
He walked out of the store and made his way up to where Olivia was working. Since the store where she works is a high-end luxury brand, he might as well check out and see.
When he neared the store, he spotted a disturbance going on inside. There appeared to be a couple of clients, and Olivia, who stood in front of them, was wearing an anxious expression.
Once he reached them at the time, the angry voice got clearer. The man's tone of voice boomed throughout the store. "Is this how your staff handled clients? How dare you accuse me of molesting you!" the tall guy shouted, his piercing gaze fixed on Olivia.
"Tss! How can you say something like that? We've been longtime clients in your shop and yet this is how you treated us? How could my husband touch anyone but me! You must have seduced him since my husband is rich! Is this how desperate women play? Disgusting!" The woman continued to glare at Olivia.
The manager alongside them attempted to quell the ruckus, but with the couple's attitude, whatever they did was ineffective, and Olivia seemed to be at the roots of it all. He aggressively gazed at Olivia and dragged her, forcing her to bow.
"Quickly apologize!"
Olivia's face wrinkled in disapproval. "No! Why would I? I'm telling the truth, why won't you believe me?! He touched me when everyone else was busy! I didn't do anything, he did!" She fiercely defended herself, but many around her believed what the customers had said.
Maybe because of the store motto that 'customers are always right'
He couldn't help but be skeptical when he considered their ludicrous motto. A ridiculous notion that the customers are always correct did not make things right, and he found it aggravating.
The brunette girl grabbed Olivia's shoulder. Her face exudes the warmth of an innocent and sympathetic expression. She opened her mouth and spoke in a soft tone. "Olivia, why don't you apologize. This isn't an appropriate aspect of a staff for our clients. We aren't in a position to be disrespectful" .
"Hah!" Olivia pushed her hand off of her shoulder and looked at her, glaring. "Stop pretending like you care. I should have known; you enjoy embarrassing me in public while appearing like an angel. Please quit making innocent faces.
He could not help but admire Olivia's fierceness. Considering the fact that she's in the midst of a ruckus, she remains committed to her ideals.
"Olivia! If you can't properly apologize! Then you're fired!" The manager shouted, infuriated at Olivia's behavior.
"W-what! But i need this job...i---i need to---'
"Stop being so arrogant and apologize if you don't want to get fired!"
Olivia clenched her skirt and bit her lower lip, whilst Jared couldn't help but gaze at the man in front of him, who appeared to be relishing his humiliation. He then cast a quick glance between the man and the female staff member behind Olivia, who seemed to be at odds with her.
"I---i..."
Olivia was reluctant to lose her job as a result of her brother's illness, regardless of how badly she wished the truth revealed. If she fails to earn money, she and her brother could be tossed out on the street.
She desired justice, but given her status as a mere salesperson, she had no alternative but to swallow her pride, give in, and accept humiliation for the sake of her brother.
"I-i'm---"
"Don't apologize for something you've never done"
All eyes shifted to the man who came out of the crowd.
Olivia's eyes widened in surprise when she recognized him.
"Jared?"
He blocked the scene by having Olivia stand behind him and face the couple.
"Who are you? Can't you see that we were having this misunderstanding clear? How dare you block me!"
Jared scoffed at the absurdity of the man in front of him.
"Clearing the misunderstanding? All I saw was you people shouting and humiliating her in front of everyone. Is that what you call clearing misunderstanding? Well i don't see it" he responded coldly.
Olivia, who was behind him, couldn't help but cry tears. For the first time in years of working at the business, no one saved her. All she had to do was lower her head and apologize, as she did not want to be jobless.
She went through everything, but she had had enough. All of her misery, tears, and humiliation seem to have ended the moment someone spoke up for her.
"Hey, who are you to criticize my husband? The wench is the problem here! She seduce my husband and accused him of harassment!"
He ignored the ranting woman and looked at Olivia, who was quietly crying behind his back. For some reason, his chest tightened. The root of hatred sprouted from all the b*llsh*ts he had experienced, and now he was angry at someone he should despise.
'honestly, what should i do?'
The woman beside Olivia glanced at her angrily, but she quickly approach Jared and held his arm. "C-customer. Please ease yourself. Olivia was the one at fault and we just wanted her to---"
"Let go"
She was taken aback by the cold tone and attitude he had with her but he did not care.
"W-what?"
"There are two types of women i don't like" he said and stared at her without any emotion in his face. "A schemer and a gold-digger. So let your filthy hands off of me while i'm being nice".
The audience gasped at the declaration. Anyone could see the woman's gorgeous face. Her gentle expression made her the favorite staff member of male customers; even the rest of the staff and the manager admired her for her nice attitude and beautiful face, but the statement made her lose face.
She took a step back and covered her face, her eyes holding back tears. She figured that if she behaved normally, he would believe her, but instead, she experienced plain rejection and a cold shoulder. Her miserable performance did not work on him.
"I-i'm sorry. I...i just want..."
He sneered and ignored her. The rest of the employees assisted the woman and even reprimanded him, but he disregarded them.
"How dare you! I will call the guards! I will sue you!"
Though his chest pounded in anxiousness, he stood still and placed both hands on the pocket.
"Sure. Be my guess. Let's find anything in the cctv then"
'Let's see what these Godforsaken people can do. If I only had the power to tell the truth, I would threw the facts into their mouths!'
"Sir, I'm sorry, but our c..."
The voice slowly faded when the sound rang inside his head.
[Ding!
The host has triggered, Various Interest.
Not to be treated lightly. Untainted mind. Sense of justice and equality.
'The host isn't a person who would stand still at the sight and instead, oppose unfairness. You, who do not discriminate between men and women, will administer justice to someone in need regardless of who they are.
Reward: Evidence.]
He frowned at the unexpected notification. He had no idea the system had so many different interests, let alone a reward. But with the said stated by the system, he felt somewhat like a hero.
Ting!
"Sir, are you listening?"
He ignores the woman and pulled out his phone. When he accessed the screen, a video appeared. The guy in front of him was with the woman who had been crying earlier, as well as the manager.
'amazing'
"I'm sorry, customer, but our cctv has a problem since yesterday, so we don't have anything to clear the misunderstanding"
He turned off the phone and glanced at the manager who was looking at him with a triumphant smile.
'ah. Right, of course they wouldn't let anyone see the scene. It will be their loss if anyone find out'
But instead of dissapointment, he plastered a smile on the manager. "It's okay, i have mine" he answered and waited.
The manager began to sweat, but the thoughts of Jared was just bluffing gave him a confidence. He glanced at the man and nodded slightly.
"Tss! What would you do? There's no evidence. And mind your words, you don't know who i am"
He smiled at the sight of the man making a fool of himself by acting confident.
"Oh yeah? Who are you?"
The man began laughing at the question and pointed himself. " My family is an investor, do you know Yellow St.? We are their sole investor, and soon, we will purchase the whole street and take full ownership"
'ah, what?'
