The successful enhancement of the Devil's Claw Girl confirmed Jonny Blaze's theory: the super-soldier serum obtained as a battle reward not only had a 100% success rate but was also compatible with Compound V.
In other words, the reverse was also true.
This meant that the super-soldier serum and Compound V could complement each other, significantly increasing the injector's overall strength and potential.
Likewise, the Red Room's control over Black Widow's serum and Extremis should work similarly.
This sparked an idea for Jonny Blaze to return to the Marvel universe. After all, Marvel was his base of operations, and his work had just begun. It wasn't the right time to stay away for too long. Besides, this world was accessible whenever he wanted, so there was no rush.
Jonny glanced at the Devil's Claw Girl, who was waiting for answers. "Life is just one stupid thing chasing another, and love is two stupid things chasing each other. You'll figure it out!"
"Are you leaving?" The Devil's Claw Girl's eyes widened. "You're just going?"
"Why not? What, are you going to give me a parting gift or make a promise?"
Life, whether it's something grand or something as simple as greens and tofu, is meant to be experienced. Jonny wasn't one to turn down an offer, especially if she was thinking of offering him something.
After all, why refuse?
The Devil's Claw Girl stared at him in astonishment. Whether she hit him or not didn't matter; what confused her was his indifference.
She wasn't sure what had been injected into her, but it was clear the serum had permanently or at least significantly enhanced her body. Yet he neither wanted to take her away for research nor kill her—wasn't he afraid others would discover the serum's effects?
Like, the locomotive, who thought he'd gotten away with it?
The thought of the locomotive sent her spiraling back into confusion.
When luck runs out, life often seems like an endless string of bad decisions. The Devil's Claw Girl took a deep breath, her gaze locked on the man who had altered her fate. "Stay, or take me with you!"
"You're not strong enough to keep me here!"
Her face darkened momentarily before Jonny continued, "Pack up. You're coming with me, and you may not have another chance to return."
"I'll pack right away!"
Excited, the Devil's Claw Girl hurriedly ran into her room to gather her belongings.
Although her abilities weren't exceptional, the super-soldier serum had significantly boosted her overall power. The combination of her strength and the ability to produce infinite amounts of super-soldier serum and Compound V made her a valuable asset.
Jonny Blaze couldn't think of a reason to refuse.
Activating his super hearing, Jonny locked onto his target amidst the noisy sounds of the city a few minutes later.
Behind a rusted iron door in the corner of a supermarket, a dim hallway led to a warehouse. At the end of the corridor, in a room locked with an iron gate, a TV played music. A disheveled little girl hid under the table, hugging her knees, her eyes fixed on the screen.
Outside the gate, on a round table, pistols and submachine guns were laid out. A man sat at the table, eating noodles and humming along to the TV's music, unaware of the figure that silently appeared behind him.
"Finished?"
A few minutes later, as the man set down his chopsticks, Jonny, who had been patiently waiting, finally spoke.
The man's last meal was over.
"Who's there?"
Startled, the man grabbed a pistol from the table and spun around, aiming it at Jonny.
"Who are you, and how did you get in here?"
Jonny ignored him, paying no attention to the pistol aimed at him, despite the man's finger on the trigger, ready to fire.
"Are you full? Because I'm about to send you off!"
Realizing Jonny wasn't friendly, the man didn't hesitate and quickly pulled the trigger.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
The bullets struck Jonny, but they did no damage, merely creating holes in his clothes.
"No—impossible! This is impossible!" The man, panicking, threw the gun at Jonny after running out of bullets.
"Zzzzt—" A scorching heat ray shot out, piercing the man's heart with ease.
Later, when his comrades found the body, would they think the Homelander had killed him?
After all, the wounds caused by heat rays were very distinct, and everyone knew that only the Homelander had such power.
Considering that the Homelander supplied them with Compound V, it would be easy to believe that the man had been killed for offending him.
It was ironic—the Homelander, sitting at home, would take the blame for a crime he didn't commit.
In the comics, Black Noir, another member of the Seven, was revealed to be a clone of the Homelander. Black Noir committed numerous heinous acts, impersonating the Homelander, leading the real Homelander to believe he suffered from dissociative identity disorder.
This split personality caused the Homelander to spiral into madness, thinking he was committing violent crimes without knowing it. Eventually, he lost all control and even convinced other superheroes to join his private rebellion, leading them to the White House to take the president hostage.
In his breakdown, the Homelander slaughtered everyone inside the White House.
Black Noir eventually revealed himself, removing his mask to show he was the clone responsible for all the atrocities. In the ensuing battle, Black Noir killed the Homelander.
It's tragic—being framed by your clone, driven to mental collapse, only to be killed by the very copy that ruined your life. The comic version of the Homelander certainly had it worse than the real one!
