Chapter 6
Sheila's POV
"Ouch ____ watch where you are massaging Shirley!." I quacked, wincing in pain as Shirley applied much pressure against my bruised back. A hot trail of pain shot through my entire body as she withdrew her hand.
We both sat down on the bed. I was out of the punishment room with raw bruises. Each bruise sending keen pain whenever Shirley damped on it with a towel.
" Sorry ma'am." Shirley apologized. Her voice is low and humble.
Shirley dipped the towel back into the warm bowl of water, squeezed it and began to damp my back gently. As the towel touched my skin,my muscles relaxed and calmness seeped into my bones, easing the ache.
"You need to be careful, Alpha Luca is quite ruthless___ and is very good at mentally breaking people." Shirley advised. Her voice laced with genuine concern that stirred a sparkle of warmth within me that I hadn't felt since I stepped foot into the dark Moon territory.
I flinched when the towel grazed a raw spot. Shirley withdrew her hand and I turned to face her,our eyes meeting.
"Who are you to give me advice?" I asked ,my voice firm. I quickly yanked the towel away from her hand.
" You are dismissed." I spat rudely with distaste.
Shirley's expression didn't weaver but her eyes flickered with hurt like a candle flame in a sandstorm .She swallowed hard.
"I was only trying to help out, Luna___My deepest apologies." Shirley apologized.
Shirley took the towel from me and placed it inside the bowel and headed towards the door. Just as she was about to open the door, the door opened and ___ Sasha walked in. Gracefully and with demure. Her scent wafted in, a harsh fragrance that had the pungency of ammonia sweeped into my nostrils, clinging onto my skin like bad omen. Her long black hair cascading down her back like a waterfall.
Shirley took a bow before springing out of the room.
My brows pulled together, anger boiled through my veins like flames. Our gaze met, mine burning with hate. Hers passive .
"What do you want?". I asked harshly, adjusting my blouse gently to avoid touching my sore skin.
"Don't be harsh. Am here to see how you are faring." Sasha said, her lips stretching out to a thin line.
" So what? You could go and tell Luca? ." I inquired. My teeth clenched in anger.
" You don't know Sheila ___ I might be the helper you have been praying for."
"I never asked for your sympathy. Why don't you leave me in peace ___ Sasha." I demanded,my brows raised.
" That's not friendly coming from a Luna of this pack." Sasha complemented. Her voice was laced with sarcasm.
"Don't expect me to feel at home in this ___." I said and my eyes darted around the room. " __ This shit hole."
The door opened and Shirley walked in with a warm cup of ginger, tumeric and willow bark relief tea. She placed it on the table beside me . My nostrils relaxed, my muscles expanded as the relief sweeped in.
"I'll leave you to some personal space Sheila but I'll be back." Sasha said, her lips stretched out to a sinister smile.
Sasha turned around and left.
"I brought you some relief tea. It will help relax your muscles." Shirley suggested.
Our eyes met, my eyes squinted with my mind swirling in doubts.
Shirley noticed how pensive I was.
"You are safe ___ it's not poisoned." She announced and I picked up the cup of coffee and took a little sip.
My face scrunched up as the bitterness of the tea saturated over the surface of my tongue. I handed the cup back to Shirley.
"You need to have more of it. You need your strength. Believe me when I say you need to heal quickly."
" Well I am trying to heal Shirley. Don't pressure me." I snarled and glared fiercely at Shirley.
You have to drink more tea." Shirley advised. Concern flashed through my face. She stretched out the tea cup to my face.
"Nahh__ I ain't having none of that and hold up___, don't you have something else to do other than to pester me?." I asked. Annoyance laced my voice.
" I am here to keep you safe." Shirley answered calmly.
" I do not need anyone protecting me and most especially not you." I snapped. My voice is sharp and unfriendly.
Shirley pinched on her nose nervously.
"You might not appreciate my gesture of kindness towards you now but you definitely will later on." Shirley said and paused.
"If you don't want to take the tea, you can as well just transform into a true wolf. Will hasten the healing process." Shirley suggested and placed the cup on its sauce.
" I can't transform into a true wolf. Am an Omega. You won't understand."
A large mass of air escaped Shirley's mouth. She took a seat in the bed beside me.
*You need to try to transform. I am also an Omega. We're weak and people look down on us. I have faith in you. Just trust yourself and your inner wolf will voluntarily take its full force."
My eyes met with Shirley's and all I could see was how her blurry lips moved inaudible words.
"Don't pep talk me into doing something that is totally undoable thanks to the fact that I am a weakling. The worst of our kind."
" Maybe you really need a pep talk. My Mom always gave me pep talk about virtually everything. It's a shame she didn't live that long." Shirley muttered. Her voice was laced with grief.
" I'm sorry about your loss." I sympathized.
Shirley blinked, trying to hold back tears from streaming down her face.
"It's okay. If they weren't killed by Alpha Luca,I wouldn't have been forced to be a maiden at the age of sixteen." Shirley said and held onto my hands.
" I don't want to see you get hurt. I don't want to see anyone else get killed. I lost my parents. I don't want to lose you." A sob escaped from Shirley's parted lips. A tear broke free and rolled down on her cheeks.
" Am so sorry that Luca's cruelty to your parents has traumatized you." A small smile tugged away on my lips.
" I need you to tell me how your parents died." I demanded,my brows arched.
