Chapter 1 - Prologue – The Fate Shattering Star

A star descended from the heavens, illuminating all of creation. It carried with it otherworldly power that seized the attention of all perceptive enough to sense it. 500 years ago, they'd felt the same. It was blinding in its intensity, carrying with it a force that shredded their world's fate like paper.

Oddly enough to those watching its traveling form, its fiery corona didn't carry a blazing heat nor a golden hue. Rather, it was like a spectrum of blues with hints of violet and lavender throughout its 'flames'. It carried a dark quality, not unlike that of the abyss. Yet, it was different, less… corrosive; those familiar with abyssal executives would liken it to a potent abyss lector combined with a voracious rift hound. Yet, this was balanced by a human-like quality that contained and corralled its destructive wrath, wrapping it around the comet in a way that safeguarded the atmosphere from contamination… mostly.

Despite this 'mercy', it was obvious to all that this falling star wasn't one that granted wishes. It didn't bring light to a rotting star; it destroyed darkness. To the layman, these may sound similar, but they carried vastly different meanings.

Its entry point was the nation of Liyue, specifically Chenyu Vale, passing through the various mountain ranges, and eventually descending into the region in the adjacent nation that many referred to as storm terror's lair.

Across the world, the various Archons, visionaries, and illuminated beings looked on with shock and suspicion. The golden stars from 500 years ago had been expected, foretold within Teyvat's greater narrative. Their coming promised the resolution of fate's trials, twin journeys bound by Celestial decree. Sure, it wasn't part of the heavenly principle's system of fate nor was it recordable in the world's leylines, but it was a planned component of the larger narrative; it was the catalyst of their salvation. Yin and Yang would travel throughout the land at different points in Teyvat's history, and through their combined perspectives lead the world to its ultimate fate.

Yet, this new star… this new variable wasn't part of any scripts, prophecy, or premonition they'd had up until this point. Time-space distorted as the future, for the first time, became completely uncertain. The structure of time unraveled, giving birth to a myriad of branching timelines that none – not even the most learned sage – could penetrate. The fate set in place by the heavenly principles was now shattered, and those bound by its weave were now cut from their puppet strings. All prophies were moot.

Hope and despair, order and anarchy; all were like chaff in the wind of change. For from the heavens descended a hero from another world, she who bested the apocalypse, bathed in its twisted ichor, and consumed its flesh.
