She encountered old friend in foreign land,
as drifting wind encountered drifting sand,
as though three centuries had passed away,
since they farewelled and went separate way.
She wept like rose at full dew on grassland,
as waving tide waved on and kissed island,
as though her lovesickness condensed white spray,
when they had reunion at sunny bay.
She wondered why he came across ocean,
as drifting sand drifted over mountain,
as though he came like fog, like distant dream,
like clouds adorned twilight, like spray in stream.
Perhaps their bond made them meet each other,
perhaps he came across ocean for her.
