Light boat sailed through mountains toward west lake,
where shimmering surface contained white drake,
where surface reflected mountain and stone,
where surface emerged with splendid sundown.
Couple in boat beheld petal of flake,
that slipped like butterfly, like pale snowflake,
and beheld heaven amber lake in town,
that waved upon green shore, moistened pear lawn.
You leaned on scholar's arm with a dimple,
and listened scholar's song came with ripple,
as though you condensed swans on lake surface,
as though scholar's reading brought you solace.
You embraced sholar, bent forward to kiss,
and surface witnessed couple fell in bliss.
