As gently as sunshine kissed sunflower,
as calmly as rain moistened peach flower,
as if sunshine was warm like flame on snow,
as if rain dropped like oil yellowed meadow.
As cool to speech as stone stood in river,
as if stone made music flow like water,
as far to reach as moon sailed through willow,
as if moon sprinkled moonlight to window.
I wondered if there was higher mountain,
than lovesickness fluttered over heaven,
I wondered if there was older maple,
than thought of you who smiled with a dimple.
As briefly as daylight unmasked gauze fog,
as if dream faded like fog, like farm frog.
