The aloneness was shadow at my side,
that danced on gold sand beach with crooning tide,
and waving tide from ocean to island,
that waved on with band's song and waved off sand.
The aloneness was figure on ice lake,
who fished at arbor in drifting snowflake,
and jasmine tea in cup with water steam,
that chilled by wind which passed through icy stream.
The aloneness was as cold as north wind,
that chased after me like shadow behind,
and as warm as sunshine from setting sun,
that passed through window from pale fog curtain.
The aloneness was mountain dressed in white,
that watched snowflake painted whole world pale sight.
