To know if breeze blew grove scent through river,
when willow branch danced as grace as dancer,
and pear blossom drifted like pale snowflake,
through shores lined willow toward amber lake.
To know if breeze sighed out through willow shore,
when willow branch like string echoed singer,
and pear blossom fluttered down rolling stream,
through misty valley toward fragrant dream,
To know if breeze warmed pearl face like sunshine,
when willow branch like shoulder leaned on pine,
and pear blossom turned paler than snowflake,
watching westering sun settled on lake.
To know if breeze was as close as shadow,
whose shadow walked through shore lined lush willow.
