Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Saving Annette

She fell down with a loud thud on the lonely tarred road, blood was already pouring around her covering her like a wet blanket, sending pangs of pain in her.

She tried to get up with every strength she tried to gather.

But immediately she tried to, the pain in her resurfaced, blinding her, and she could see the little life left in her seeping away.

The road was already lonely and only a few cars passed by this time of the night.

She tried to get up again but failed. She was crying silently now and the side of her head was filled with blood, which was almost covering her face.

Her mind flashed at the last scene before she was pushed from the bridge.

A mixture of pain and sadness rushed through her heart, but there was nothing she could do, she was already dying slowly with no one to help her.

Her mind still flashed back at what Roxanna had told her, of Raphael betraying her and her heart broke into pieces.

She wasn't sure if she had told her the truth about Raphael, about the women he had had an affair with, and the divorce he had prepared.

Tears were springing from her eyes as she tried to get up for the third time, but it was impossible.

She was already stained with so much blood from her fall and she wished to die, but she wasn't going to die.

She was already sorry for herself and she felt kind of angry, she wanted to fight back, for revenge, but for now she needed to stay alive.

Her life played before her and a sob tugged at the back of her throat and her heart tightened, almost making it impossible for her to breathe.

She was going to make them pay ,all of them, including Raphael, for doing this to her, for betraying her.

She had loved him. Why did he choose this moment to break the news to her?

So he didn't even care about her. That meant Roxanna had said the truth.

Raphael had betrayed her trust and love. It was the last thing that she thought he could do for her.

She was a nice person, but yet he had turned around and stabbed her in the back, betrayed her.

What if both of them had planned to do this to her ?

She cried again and again.

She promised herself that even if she survived, she was never going to forgive Roxanna, she was going to give her a dose of her own medicine.

Her eyes had already begun to feel heavy, she was in the middle of the road and a car might run into her if she didn't find a safe place to crawl to.

She managed to crawl slowly to the other side of the road and fell on her stomach, crying in pain.

Suddenly, hope surged through her and she saw a headlight from afar.

She stretched her hand and tried to call out, but her voice was hoarse and could barely be heard, the vehicle seemed to slow down.

"Help me." she called in a very tiny voice which was barely above a whisper, but immediately the driver saw her, he quickly zoomed leaving behind a trail of dust which choked her.

"Help me ." She kept croaking hoping someone could hear her, which was impossible because the road was lonely .

She was losing the last strength in her, and she hoped another car would pass by.

But nothing, no car passed by, and she felt like resigning to fate. Just then thunder clapped and lightning flashed and, without warning, rain began to fall like pellets on her, adding to her pain and anger.

It was at this moment that she told herself that she must survive even for one thing, but to teach them the greatest revenge ever.

She was going to come back so strong and fierce, and they would have to feel the weight of her anger .

She would teach them a bitter lesson and each of them was going to feel her wrath.

She would definitely make them pay. Her eyes began to close, and her strength left her, and she was almost dying when a car honked. The driver was over speeding

Hope came upon her again. The car was still very far away, but as it came closer it seemed the driver was driving very slowly and wasn't in a rush.

She was going to wait. Perhaps this one was going to help her, but instead it came closer, saw her and zoomed passed just like the first.

At this moment, she gave up and began to cry slowly, she had to wait, she had to survive.

It was the pain and the revenge that kept her waiting for the next car that came five minutes later.

As usual, the car began to slow down and, as if a miracle had happened, it stopped right before her. The light from the headlamp was almost blinding her as the driver's door was pushed open, and a very expensive shoe came into view which led to long legs.

Then the driver of the car walked up to her with slow steps, he walked with so much poise as if the night was meant to do his bidding and be his companion.

Soon he came to where she was lying on her stomach, staring at her . With tired eyes, she looked up to see a tall man standing over her, looking at her through his lashes. She couldn't make out his features because it was still dark, and the rain was pouring in torrents.

"Help me," she crooked again, "please do not let me die. "

"I will if you tell me what happened to you. "He said in a rich baritone voice.

He came down to her level looking at her bloodied face.

"Someone tried to kill me." She said, releasing the words slowly." I- I want .... revenge."
