Chapter 254 - Hermes, Do You Want To Get Rid Of The Connection?

"Younger sister."

"Elder sister."

As Hermes departed, Persephone gradually emerged, and Yan Mo nodded slightly, exhaling a wisp of green smoke. "Hermes is indeed an outstanding god."

"It's good that he knows when to advance and retreat. It's a pity, though—if only his status as an envoy could change the gods he serves. Otherwise, if he became an angel of the Underworld, it wouldn't be so bad."

Persephone agreed, "Yes, Hermes is commendable, but having one blessing is sufficient. Inada is the most exceptional blessing of the Underworld."

"Indeed!"

The two women exchanged knowing smiles, acknowledging their shared understanding.

Envoys and blessings were similar creatures, distinguished only by their names in different realms. In Japanese mythology, they were called "God's Blessings," while in Greek mythology, they were known as "God's Envoys." The distinction was merely nominal; their essences remained unchanged.

In the realm of gods, the number of blessings was irrelevant—there was no limit. However, no god would ever accept a second oracle, as it would insult the trust established with the first. Gods devoted everything to serve their chosen oracle, and the bond was sacred.

After some time, Persephone and Yan Mo parted ways, each busy with their respective duties. As the queens of the Underworld, their responsibilities were significant. The workload of the Underworld was substantial, and both had their hands full with various matters.

Hermes returned to the Holy Mountain of Olympus shortly after leaving the Underworld, his journey marked by the crackling sounds of interlaced divine laws. Though he could easily evade ordinary Titan Main Gods, the battlefield was still perilous.

Upon arriving at the temple, Hermes knelt on one knee and recounted his visit. Zeus's anger was palpable, radiating a terrifying light. Thunder crackled as Zeus's killing intent loomed large.

However, he quickly restrained his fury, speaking calmly, "Hermes, step back."

"Yes!" Hermes responded, withdrawing respectfully from the temple.

It wasn't until he reached his own chamber that he exhaled deeply, feeling the weight of the situation. Despite being the son of a god king and an envoy, he understood that the unpredictable nature of Zeus could lead to unforeseen consequences.

This realization made Hermes humble and obedient. Had he not been favored as Zeus's envoy, his cleverness might have spelled his doom, but for some reason, Zeus held a certain regard for him.

The disparity between the Underworld and Olympus was striking. While Hades and Poseidon were disinterested in petty power struggles, Zeus seemed consumed by them. To the gods, absolute power was paramount; everything else was meaningless.

Hermes could only shake his head wryly, feeling helpless. He wanted to change things, but he felt utterly powerless, knowing he lacked the standing to do so.

Just then, he sensed a presence and looked up to see a goddess approaching. His expression shifted in surprise, but he quickly bowed respectfully. "Great-grandmother!"

Gaia approached with a serene smile, her demeanor calm and composed. "Hermes, do you wish to break away from Zeus?"

While it was challenging, separating an envoy from their god was not impossible. For Gaia, it would be relatively easy to sever the bond between Hermes and Zeus, especially if she could overpower Zeus.

In the realm of gods, power dictated everything. As long as one had sufficient divine power, nothing was truly absolute, and circumstances could be altered.

Hermes felt a stirring in his heart. If he could indeed sever ties with Zeus, it would be the best outcome. Gaia's presence indicated that something significant could be changed.

He was intelligent enough to understand the implications: Zeus was on a self-destructive path, and his demise loomed closer than ever.

"I do!" Hermes declared firmly, without hesitation. "Let's see where this leads!"
