Chapter 252 - Hermes' Request!

"Husband!"

Persephone stepped gracefully into the Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, bowed slightly, and said, "Hermes has arrived at the entrance of the Underworld and wishes to see you. Do you want to meet him?"

Hades slowly opened his eyes.

Since the return of Erebus and Nyx, who entered the Underworld and became its deities, Hades had not left the realm again but continued to bind himself to it.

While things could unfold on their own, if Hades took action himself, the benefits would be vastly different. There was no doubt about this.

"Hermes..."

Hades spoke softly, his voice indifferent as he added, "Bring Hermes to me."

"Understood!"

Persephone withdrew. Hades was not surprised by Hermes' arrival; instead, he was deep in thought. He didn't particularly want to participate in the conflict between Zeus and Typhon, but one thing was clear.

If Zeus was willing to part with it, Hades would gladly lend a hand. This artifact, once held by Uranus, had never fallen into Cronus' hands.

Now, as the ruler of the heavens, Zeus had a high likelihood of obtaining this artifact from Uranus, especially since Uriah supported him.

This artifact held little significance for Uranus.

It was most fitting for Zeus to possess it.

If Zeus agreed to hand over the artifact, everything would be straightforward.

The Sky Gate!

Hades was determined to acquire it. Even if Zeus was reluctant to part with it, he planned to retrieve it himself after the battle between Zeus and Typhon concluded. This was Hades' plan. As for Zeus' reluctance? That was his concern.

However, given Hades' stature, maintaining face was crucial. After all, he was a formidable god king. While the strong may respect the strong, it would be embarrassing for Hades to act otherwise. It was unacceptable for anyone to look down on him or gossip about his actions.

Even in a world where strength is revered, Hades, being strong, cared deeply about his reputation. This was why Gaia never intervened directly; she could not afford to lose face.

The same principle applied to battles among saints. Aside from luck, such contests often hinged on appearances. As for a certain God who shamelessly bullied the younger gods? Such behavior was truly disgraceful, something ordinary beings would never dare to do.

If Hades were to attack Zeus outright, it wouldn't be embarrassing; it would signify a declaration of war. However, that was certainly not ideal.

Even if Hades did take such action, it would merely be a declaration, not a major issue.

At that moment, at the entrance of the Underworld, Hermes wore a grim expression. It wasn't impatience that troubled him, but rather the gravity of the situation. The heavens were crumbling under Typhon's onslaught. He felt powerless throughout the conflict.

In such a war, Hermes couldn't see a clear path to victory. If this continued, what would the outcome be?

It was, in fact, already evident, and he shook his head silently.

Hermes was at a loss for words, waiting quietly. He was Zeus' envoy, and while anyone else could betray him, Hermes was not permitted to do so.

Under these circumstances, betrayal was not an option for him.

It was painfully clear.

As Hermes silently awaited the outcome, he pondered whether Hades would be willing to assist His Majesty. This was a matter shrouded in uncertainty for him.

To the new generation of gods like himself, Hades was enigmatic. It seemed he had never truly engaged in any conflict, yet his legend loomed large. They all recognized his power, but knowing of it changed nothing. If that were the case, what was the point?

Suddenly, Hermes sensed a wave of energy, prompting him to step back as the gates of the Underworld creaked open. Two figures emerged: the Bull-Headed and Horse-Faced.

The corners of their mouths twisted into manic grins.

The Bull-Headed and Horse-Faced were no pushovers.

Having been promoted by Hades, they now stood at the level of the main god.

In the future, as they continued to develop their powers, becoming Titan Main Gods would not be out of reach.

Thus, Hermes and the Bull-Headed and Horse-Faced were essentially equals. With both sides on equal footing, there was no need for unnecessary words.

The Bull-Headed figure said directly and coolly, "Hermes, this way please. Lord Queen of the Underworld is already waiting for you!"

"Thank you!"

Hermes replied, bowing slightly. As for whether to feel shame?

Regardless, Hermes was a clever envoy of the gods. He followed the Bull-Headed and Horse-Faced into the Underworld and immediately felt 90% of his divine power completely suppressed the moment he stepped inside.

This was the law of the Underworld. But Hermes remained calm. It was a minor inconvenience! Just a trivial matter! He had already entered the Underworld—was there any point in causing trouble?

In the Underworld, everyone understood that causing a fuss was essentially pointless.

If this were the case, there was no use in overthinking it. He would simply comply and follow the directives. As a messenger, even if issues arose, Hades would likely only declare war on His Majesty and wouldn't take any personal action against him.

In a war between two armies, there was no beheading of envoys!

Hermes had absolute confidence in this. To put it plainly, it was inconceivable for Hades to engage in such a disgraceful act.
