"Mr Quinn!"
"Mr Quinn!!"
He turned to look at her.
"Skyler". He dropped, voice void of every emotion.
"What?" She asked, totally confused.
"My name is Skyler. So call me that". He was still staring out the window, lost. Even after they had driven away from her house.
"But Mr Quinn, I can't call you by your name. You're my boss, it's not right". Fira argued.
"I believe it's also wrong for you to disobey me". He deadpanned.
"Mr Q...."
He shot her a pointed look.
"Well understood Skyler".
The way she said his name, caused a tremble in Skyler.
When he had seen her dash out of the house, he had lost all his senses. She was in every sense beautiful and the way her dress hugged her close, outlining every single curve of her body, made his member go hard. Damn her!
Then he heard a little voice and when he saw the child, his blood ran cold. There was no denying who he was. The boy was the mini version of him. He noticed his driver observed it too.
"Alpha".
"Vincent. I think it might be her. In fact, it is indeed her". His driver was aware of his search for the mystery woman who had been in his penthouse that night.
"But sir, you said nothing about a child".
"Because I didn't know". He snapped. "I didn't know there was one till yesterday. I wasn't even sure he was mine. But now, it's as clear as day". His eyes were trained on Fira trying to detach herself from her crying son.
"Then, by all means, you should introduce her to the previous Alpha and Luna, and the whole pack". It wasn't a hidden thing that his parents had been plaguing him to get a Luna and give them grandchildren. Be it his mate or not. They were just concerned about the continuation of their lineage.
"I can't. Not yet. I don't want to put her and my son in danger. She's not just an ordinary woman that bore my son. She's my mate". Vincent gasped just as Fira entered the car.
"You look dazzling in this red dress". Skyler spoke up as they drove.
"Thank you, Mr....I mean Skyler". She corrected herself immediately, blushing and looking down.
"It's okay, I know it will take some getting used to. But you can call me Mr. Quinn in public". She nodded, obviously relieved.
"Don't you think you might get cold though?" His eyes were focused on the exposed side of her waist.
Her face turned red and she looked down again. He grabbed her chin and turned her face towards him.
"Don't feel shy. You look beautiful and if you feel cold, I'm here". He stared into her eyes and Fira felt she was going to fall inside the swirling grey. They looked like a stormy cloud, a constant reminder that he wasn't someone to be messed with.
The rest of the ride was quiet. They got to the restaurant. It was beautiful. Black and gold themed. The waitress had obviously been expecting them. She led them down the hallway and into a room. She shot Fira a jealous look.
"Relax. She's just jealous of the fact that you're prettier than her and that I'm yours".
Fira blushed when he said he was hers.
The room was dark but well-illuminated by the candles that lined the walls.
There was an opera band in one corner of the room. Foods of every type were lined. From appetizer to the main dish to dessert.
"You spent so much for a date?" She questioned, still in awe of the whole setup.
"It wasn't with any ordinary woman. It was with you so I had to make everything special".
"But I'm an ordinary woman". He pulled out a chair for her to sit.
"Oh darling, you're much more than that". He drawled and took a seat, maintaining eye contact.
There was another waitress, waiting to serve them.
"So Miss Blackstone, how long have you been working in my company?" He asked as they feasted on the appetizer.
"3 years and 6 months. I knew I had to get a job the minute my son turned 6 months. Grandma would always look after him while I went to work".
"It's funny how our parts never crossed". They both chuckled.
"It nearly did once but I guess we weren't meant to meet then. You know, it's always a blessing whenever you grace us with your handsome presence". He smiled at her, stunned.
"I'm speaking on behalf of all the girls at the company". She quickly interjected and they broke out into a fit of laughter.
"Dance?" He stood up and stretched out his hands as the opera band began playing.
She grabbed it and he led her to the dance floor. Placing her hands on his shoulder, he held her waist and they swung themselves to the rhythm of the song.
"So...since you didn't get to find out the name of your son's father, whose surname did you give him? Cause it's obvious you don't like your parents and you won't give him theirs". His hands grabbed her more tightly and she felt sparks all over her.
"I gave him grandma's. Aloysius. Miguel Austin Aloysius". He nodded.
They danced in comfortable silence, each to their own thoughts.
When the song ended, he led her back to the table for their main dish.
Fira's phone rang loudly and she tensed when she saw the caller.
"Who's that?" Skyler asked when he saw her worried face.
"Alice". She whispered and picked up the call, putting it on speaker.
Alice was crying.
"Miss B. It's Miguel. He was running a very serious temperature and I decided to give him a fruit cake then start wheezing and coughing which turned red and started itching his throat. I've called 911, they're on their way. I was so scared I had to call you immediately...."
Fira shot out of her chair. Her mind was blank at that moment as she rushed out of the room followed by Skyler.
"Fira slow down". She couldn't. Her legs were moving on their own.
Skyler grabbed her from behind and a velvet casing he was holding fell out of his pocket, its content spilling.
Fira's eyes widened when she saw the earring. There was no mistaking. It was the earring she was to wear for her engagement. Blue and silver. She knew she had forgotten it in that hotel room.
"No". She met Skyler's eyes and he knew she knew.
"Fira I can explain". Fira couldn't listen anymore.
He was the man who had ruined her life and he knew. She dashed out of the restaurant with him calling after her.
Skyler picked up the earring and the casing, running after Fira. She was nowhere to be found. The road was dry.
He heard a car screech and he ran in that direction. A scream and a body colliding with the coal tar could be heard.
"No no no". He ran as fast as his legs could carry him.
All he saw was Fira's purse. He bent to pick it up and saw blood stains.
Fira was nowhere to be found.
