It was very cold during that time especially since its winter, Tia, a 19 years old girl was sitting by her window watching the snow pour down from the sky while she's sipping hot chocolate, a notification rang and she picked up her phone immediately, her eyes slowly glided as she was reading something on her phone then her eyes grew big to the very exciting news
"I got accepted to the art school!! Mom!!" She was ecstatic, she ran downstairs as quickly as possible, she went to the kitchen to tell her mom about it when suddenly all the excitement disappeared into thin air as the image of her mother on the floor flashed before her eyes..
"MOM!!'
She grabbed her phone and called an ambulance ..
911 what's your emergency?
"Hello! Please help me, my mother is currently on the floor I don't know when or what time she collapsed" Tia said in a very shaky but yet understandable tone,
"Ok ma'am we got it can you please tell us your address and please stay in touch"
"Ok uh our address is XXXXX" her voice getting more and more shaky, it's like her body is trembling because it's cold or something, well, technically her whole body is trembling,
"And ma'am may I know your full name and check if your mother is still breathing"
Tia placed the palm of her hand on her mother's chest, "it's Tia Smiths, and my mother- she's hardly breathing.. please hurry!!" Tia yelled, and she looked like she was about to burst in tears,
"Ok ma'am Tia, please calm down we're on our way"
And not even a minute has passed and the ambulance is here, the doctors hurriedly examined her mother and put her in the back of the ambulance truck then in a hurry, they immediately went to the hospital 5 minutes away from them, Tia held her mother's hand while tears started to roll down her cheeks, it was so clear that she's afraid she'd lose someone she loved, can't blame her though she already lost her father in a car accident in where he protected her mother.
As soon as they arrive at the Hospital they quickly brought her to a vacant room and started the operation, Tia waited outside the room for results and that's when realization hit her, how will she pay for the bills? she didn't had any money on her and so does her mother, suddenly she heard a familiar voiceÂ
"Tia?" It was a friend of hers
"Mary! oh uh.. don't mind how I messy I look right now.."
"It's all good, what are you doing her anyway?" Mary asked curiously
Tia explained everything in full detail, tears started rolling down her soft and rosy cheeks, her eyes started to get very swollen..
"everything will be ok, come here" Mary comforted her and gave her a tight hug, she deserved it after working so hard,
"and congrats on getting into your dream school, you deserve it" Mary gave her a warm smile, a smile that can melt ice in winter, Tia was falling for her...
20 minutes have passed and still no news from the doctor, she was tapping her feet on the ground while biting on her nails out of nervousness, then the doctor came out of the room
"hello ma'am, are you Ms. Tia Smiths?" the doctor asked.
" ah, yes I am, is my mom ok??" she replied.
"yes she is, but..." the doctor's gaze lowered, this made Tia worried but yet she chose to stay quiet.
"but she have developed a heart disease and we wanted to tell you before we gave her the treatment, and it will be expensive" the doctor continued
Tia stared at the doctor speechless, she don't have any money for bills and she also need money for college, her head lowered still speechless, she didn't know what to do in this situation,
"you must be shocked Ms. Smiths so we will give you time to think.." the doctor said and went back in the room.
Tia decided that she will take a part-time job and pay the bill little by little, if it's possible..
if it's not allowed then she will have to borrow money from a relative or a friend that would be kind enough to help her and she will just pay them,
she knocked on the door of the room, she was let in by the nurse who was assigned to keep watch of her mother, she discussed the matter to the nurse and luckily the nurse understood her situation so the nurse went out to discuss this with the doctor
while Tia waited for the nurse, she looked at her mother, on the bed, pale and weak, this sight makes Tia's feelings get hurt, she couldn't take care of her mother and get her the cure immediately because she didn't have the money, then the nurse went in to tell her the good news.
"so we can give your mother the cure right away and you can pay little by little" the nurse explained.
the sparkle in Tia's eyes were restored she cried tears of joy and thanked both the nurse and the doctor.
she only had a 1'000 dollars at the moment so she payed the doctor a half and promised to pay the rest little by little, she hurried to go home because she had to fix her stuff, she was going to move into the university tomorrow.
she packed her bags and went to the university, just as she stepped in front of the building, she was in awe, the building was so big and beautiful and she knew right away that there's a chance she could get lost in this big of a building,
just as she expected, she got lost but luckily she met a teacher and she asked where the dorms are, the teacher explained that she must go to the office first to get her dorm room number and keys, she followed the teacher's instructions and directions, she got to the office and got her dorm keys.
she went to her room and saw a pale girl in there, she assumed that it was her roommate
"I suppose, you're my roommate?" the girl said.
"yes I am, I'm Tia what about you?'
"I'm Alexandria, call me Al for short" she replied and turned her back, continuing on what she was doing.
Tia placed her bags in the corner and went out to visit her mother in the hospital.
