The sun rose, casting a golden hue over the Castillo estate. Diana woke up tangled in Alejandro's arms, her heart heavy despite the bliss of the night. As much as she cherished these stolen moments, she couldn't ignore the storm brewing in her life.
"I should go," she whispered, propping herself up on her elbow to look at him.
Alejandro's blue eyes met hers, shadowed by the knowledge of what awaited her outside his cottage. He reached up, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. "Be careful," he said softly, his thumb brushing against her cheek.
Diana nodded, pressing a lingering kiss to his lips before slipping out of bed. She quickly dressed and made her way back to the mansion, her heart racing with every step.
As Diana approached the back entrance, she heard footsteps. Panic surged through her veins as she ducked behind a nearby pillar. From her hiding spot, she saw Mrs. Alvarez carrying a basket of laundry, muttering to herself as she walked by.
