Bianca's breath came in shallow gasps as she peered out the window. The dark sedan cruised past their hiding spot, its driver seemingly unaware they'd stopped.
Adrian waited a full minute before restarting the car. "We're safe for now."
Bianca exhaled, her body sagging with relief. "Who do you think it was?"
"I don't know," Adrian admitted, his voice grim. "But whoever it was, they weren't just out for a casual drive."
The rest of the journey to the restaurant was uneventful, though the earlier incident lingered in the air between them. When they arrived, Adrian parked close to the entrance and escorted Bianca inside, his protective hand hovering near her back.
Seated at a cozy corner table, they tried to settle into the evening. Adrian ordered a bottle of sparkling water for them to share, and the warmth of the restaurant began to ease some of Bianca's nerves.
