The front door rattled against its hinges as someone outside kicked it hard.
"Move!" Axel barked, grabbing Sofia and pulling her toward the back exit.
I reached for my gun and pressed my back to the wall near the door. My mind raced. Lorenzo's men weren't here to negotiate. This was a show of force, and they didn't care who got caught in the crossfire.
The door cracked under another kick. A split-second later, it burst open, and two men stormed in, their weapons drawn.
I fired first. The man in front dropped before he even saw me. His partner froze, just long enough for Axel to step into view and take him down with a clean shot.
"Keep moving!" Axel yelled.
Sofia stumbled as we pushed her through the narrow hallway. "Where are we going?" she cried.
"Anywhere but here!" I snapped, my voice harsh.
We burst out the back door into the alley. The sound of boots pounding pavement echoed from all directions. They'd surrounded the building.
