A day had passed since Alaric left for a business trip. Being his 'personal assistant', I was supposed to accompany him, but for some reason, he said it wasn't a must for me to go. Considering the way he had been acting possessive and would not let me stay a second away from him, I suspected the matter was serious and confidential. Though I felt a little left out, I knew I had a long way to go to fully earn Alaric trust. After all, he was the vampire king.
I sighed thoughtfully. I was yet to digest the fact that I had been mated to the vampire king, a man who was supposed to be my first enemy, but now, here I was; so madly in love with him. My only hope every day was to never make a mistake that would ruin what we had. I didn't want to lose.
A phone call brought me back, and I jolted from the bed rapidly, thinking maybe it was Alaric. To my disappointment, it was an unknown number.
"Hello?" I spoke after a moment of consideration.
