Kevin pulled up to the gates of the luxurious estate in his newly acquired Bugatti Chiron. The sleek, black car, with its unmistakable growl, turned heads everywhere it went. Today, however, Kevin wasn't interested in attracting attention—except from two people. Jenny and Steve.
As the gates to the sprawling mansion opened, Kevin's heart raced—not with anxiety, but with anticipation. It had been months since Jenny had left him for Steve. Months of hard work, heartbreak, and now, triumph. Today wasn't just about revenge; it was about closure. He was no longer the poor boy she had abandoned. He was a billionaire, a titan, and it was time to show them just how far he had come.
The sprawling mansion in front of him, owned by Steve's family, was impressive. But to Kevin, it was just another asset he could afford ten times over. The thought made him grin. He parked the Bugatti near the fountain and got out, smoothing the lapel of his custom-fitted designer suit. The sound of his shoes on the stone path echoed as he made his way toward the front door.
Before he could knock, the door swung open, revealing none other than Steve. The smug, well-groomed man looked at Kevin with an expression that quickly morphed from surprise to confusion. For a brief moment, Steve didn't recognize him. After all, the last time Steve had seen Kevin, he had been a struggling young man with nothing to his name. Now, Kevin looked like the epitome of wealth and power.
"Kevin?" Steve asked, blinking as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing.
Kevin smiled, but there was no warmth behind it. "Long time no see, Steve. I thought it was time we caught up."
Steve was silent for a moment, trying to process what was happening. "What are you doing here? How did you—"
Before Steve could finish, Jenny appeared behind him. She froze, her eyes widening when she saw Kevin. She had always been beautiful—blonde hair, bright eyes, a smile that once lit up Kevin's world. But now, as she stood next to Steve, all Kevin saw was a reminder of betrayal.
"Kevin?" Jenny's voice was barely a whisper. She glanced at Steve, then back at Kevin. "What… What are you doing here?"
"I came to see how you both are doing," Kevin said, his voice casual, though the edge of his words was sharp. "It's been a while, and I figured it would be good to catch up."
Jenny looked flustered, and Steve seemed equally unsettled. They hadn't expected to see Kevin—especially not like this.
"Why don't we go inside?" Kevin suggested, his voice smooth. Without waiting for a response, he stepped past Steve and into the grand foyer.
The inside of the mansion was just as opulent as he'd imagined—high ceilings, crystal chandeliers, marble floors. But to Kevin, it all felt empty. He had seen luxury, lived it, and owned far more than this house could offer. Still, it was amusing to think that Jenny had traded him for this.
They walked into the living room, and Kevin took a seat on the pristine white sofa as if he owned the place. Jenny and Steve sat opposite him, both looking uncertain.
"So, Kevin," Steve began, clearing his throat awkwardly. "You seem… different."
Kevin smirked, leaning back. "I am different, Steve. I've been busy. Really busy."
The tension in the room was palpable. Steve shot a nervous glance at Jenny, who looked as though she was struggling to find her voice.
"We… we heard that you've been doing well," Jenny finally said, her voice trembling slightly. "I mean, we heard some things, but we didn't know…"
"You didn't know I was now one of the richest men in the country?" Kevin cut in, his voice calm but cutting. He watched as both of them froze, disbelief flashing across their faces.
Steve laughed nervously. "Richest? Come on, Kevin. What are you talking about?"
Kevin's eyes locked onto Steve's, and his smile widened. "I'm worth over $10 billion now, Steve. And that's just the beginning."
The color drained from Steve's face. Jenny gasped, her hand instinctively going to her mouth. The silence stretched on, heavy with shock and disbelief.
"That's right," Kevin continued, his voice taking on a harder edge. "While you were busy living off your family's wealth, I've been building an empire. Businesses, luxury cars, properties—everything you can imagine. And now, I'm richer than you. I'm richer than your entire family."
Steve's mouth opened and closed, but no words came out. Jenny looked as if she had just been hit by a truck.
Kevin stood up, his gaze cold and unflinching. "Remember when you left me, Jenny? You said I wasn't ambitious enough. You said I'd never be able to provide for you the way Steve could. Well, look at me now."
Jenny's eyes filled with tears as she shook her head. "Kevin… I didn't mean to—"
Kevin raised his hand, silencing her. "You made your choice, Jenny. And I made mine. I chose to become something more, something greater. And now, I don't need you. I don't need Steve. I don't need anyone who looked down on me."
Steve, still in shock, managed to choke out a few words. "You're lying. This has to be some kind of joke."
Kevin chuckled. "It's not a joke, Steve. In fact, I've already bought out one of your family's failing projects. You might want to check your portfolio."
Steve's eyes widened as realization dawned on him. Kevin had taken everything. His pride, his status—everything Steve had lorded over him was crumbling.
As Kevin turned to leave, Jenny stood up, reaching out for him. "Kevin, wait," she pleaded. "I didn't know. I didn't think you'd—"
"You didn't think I'd make something of myself," Kevin finished for her. "But I did. And now, you're nothing more than a memory."
He walked out of the mansion without looking back, leaving Steve and Jenny in stunned silence. As he stepped into his Bugatti, a sense of closure washed over him. He had won. He had faced his past and come out on top. But even as the victory settled in, Kevin knew that this was just a chapter in his journey.
The real adventure was only beginning.
