Chapter 100 - Chapter 100: The Mother Who Seeks Death with All Her Heart

Morning's mother left Wen Ying's hospital room in a daze.

Wen Ying stared at her for a few more moments, then tugged on Aunt Zhang's arm. "Auntie, could you go check on Chaochao's mom? I feel like she might have lost the will to live."

Originally, Aunt Zhang didn't understand why Wen Ying wanted to see for herself, but upon hearing this, she followed without looking back.

Morning's mom held the things Wen Ying had sent and placed them in the clothes of her daughter, who would never wake up again. She whispered softly, "Morning, don't be afraid. Mommy will be with you soon."

The voice was very low, almost no one could hear it.

The body was not intended to be cremated. Chaochao's father contacted an ambulance to take it back to their hometown.

Their hometown was in a picturesque village surrounded by mountains and rivers, and Chaochao's father believed it was the best place for Chaochao.

When they missed Zhao Zhao, they could still go back and see her.

Aunt Zhang stood not far away, watching Chaochao's mother, feeling a bit puzzled. Could she really be thinking of ending her life?

This is a human life.

Those who have left are already gone, and those who are alive must live bravely.

Just as Aunt Zhang was in a daze, she saw Chaochao's mother heading towards the corridor, so she followed her.

The stairs continued upward, leading to the rooftop.

Aunt Zhang quickly caught up. Her old bones were really tired from running, but thinking about this life at stake, she could only keep running.

"Big sister! Wait for me!"

Aunt Zhang's voice echoed in the attic. Chaochao's mother turned to look at her, her expression suspicious, but she did not speak.

"Why are you running so fast? You're wearing out these old bones of mine."

"Sis, is there something you need from me?" Chaochao's mom tried her best to act normal, but the grayness in her eyes couldn't be hidden.

"I didn't come looking for you for anything in particular. I just want to ask what you're doing up on the roof. Don't tell me you're here to get some fresh air or enjoy the view."

Everyday's mom heard this and remained silent.

"Sigh, I understand how you feel, but you still have to keep living! If the little girl knew what you were thinking now, do you think she would leave in peace?"

Morning's mom remained silent, not saying a word.

"Right now, you won't listen to me, so I'll be honest with you. It was Xiaoying who asked me to come. She said you were having dark thoughts and wanted me to keep an eye on you."

"I... really thank you, Dr. Wen, but I can't. My mind is filled with thoughts of Zhaozhao. She is my whole world. She no longer has any sensations, can't see this world, and can't see me. No matter what I do, she will never know."

"Thank you for your concern, but it's really unnecessary." Chaochao's mom's tone was filled with despair, darkness, and a future without light.

Aunt Zhang was quite helpless. She couldn't outtalk this person, but if she left, she feared that Chaochao's mother would go straight to her daughter, and she didn't want that to happen.

Suddenly, Aunt Zhang had a flash of inspiration.

"Xiao Ying is a capable person; maybe she can help you meet Zhao Zhao."

Morning's mother stared at Aunt Zhang, saying nothing, but her eyes said it all.

You don't need to persuade me anymore, nor do you need to make up lies to trick me into staying alive.

She knew very well that her daughter would never come back, so what was there to see?

How could it be possible to see?

"I know you don't believe me! But Xiaoying really isn't an ordinary person, just trust me this once, okay? If I can't prove it, I won't stop you anymore. Don't you want to take this chance?"

Chaochao's mother still didn't answer. Instead, she turned around and walked along the edge of the rooftop.

Aunt Zhang immediately chased after her and reached out to grab her arm.

"If you can't see your daughter, isn't it too soon to seek death? If you die now, you really won't see her! My old man says the world down there is vast, and you might never meet in a lifetime! Are you willing to accept that? And Chaochao is still down there, aren't you worried they won't find a good place for Chaochao to settle?"

Aunt Zhang used all her strength to pull Chaochao's mother back. "Let's go find Xiaoying right now and ask her about this matter face to face."

Before Chaochao's mother could respond, Aunt Zhang had already pulled her down from the top floor.

In Wen Ying's hospital room, the old man in the next bed stared at the snow-white wall. "Little girl, can you tell what will happen to her?"

"You don't need to say anything, old man, I can tell. You're not just an ordinary little girl."

After calling out twice without receiving a response, the old man couldn't help but turn his head to look at Wen Ying, only to see her smiling at him. "Old man, are you still angry? Your temper is just like a child's."

The old man grunted, clearly angry.

"I can indeed tell what she will do. I am a psychologist; by observing her expressions, tone, and movements, I can deduce what kind of actions she will take."

"In this day and age, even psychologists can read fortunes? The world outside sure has changed a lot." The old man sighed and then fell silent.

Aunt Zhang came in with Chaochao's mother.

Aunt Zhang, who had originally intended to speak, somehow glanced at the old man on the neighboring bed.

The old man wasn't looking this way initially, but he seemed to sense something. "If you have something to say, just say it! I'm deaf, not blind!"

After speaking, the old man directly took out a pair of earplugs from under the pillow and put them in his ears.

Aunt Zhang felt a bit awkward, but at this moment, there were clearly more important matters to attend to, so she couldn't bother with the old man's little temper.

"Xiaoying, can you let Chaochao's mom see Chaochao?"

Morning's mother looked at Wen Ying with a face full of despair, as if she held no hope at all.

Wen Ying looked at Chao Chao's mother and, after a few minutes of silence, said, "What can you say when you see Chao Chao? That you don't want to live anymore?"

Mama Chaochao opened her mouth but still didn't speak; she didn't know what she could say to her daughter.

If Zhaozhao, who is always so sensible, knew that her mother was contemplating suicide, she would probably be furious.

Mom still remembers her daughter looking at her when she left, saying, "Live happily."

So she couldn't even fulfill her daughter's last wish?

But it was truly too painful. In a world without her daughter, she really didn't know how to go on living.

Not even for a second.

"Chaochao told me that even if she were gone, she would want Mom and Dad to live happily. If you leave, I can't guarantee you'll see Chaochao."

"But now, can I really see Zhaozhao?" Zhaozhao's mother finally spoke, her voice mixed with sobs and confusion.

"Okay, but not now. Keep what I gave you close to Zhaozhao's body."

Hearing this, Chaochao's mother seemed to have found a lifeline. "But Chaochao will never wake up again. Her father wants to take her back to our hometown and bury her directly. How can I see Chaochao? Should I stop him?"

"In a dream."

"I can let you see Zhaozhao in your dreams. As for her funeral arrangements, continue as planned. Choose a beautiful place with clear mountains and waters for her burial."
