Chapter 76
"It's so long-winded and dull... utterly lacking in the talent for naming things." Jiraiya shook his head in disapproval.
"What a ridiculous name, completely defiling the legacy of the Rasengan!"
Haneda, who had wanted to name the technique himself, thought, 'What's wrong with Rasengan? It's simple and straightforward!'
"Wow! Sensei Minato's name for it is so cool!" Obito exclaimed, eyes practically sparkling with excitement at hearing the string of impressive words, especially when it included the name "Haneda."
Jiraiya, sitting on the ground, dusted himself off as he stood up. He turned to Minato and said, "Since this jutsu is already complete, I should be going now. The old man has assigned me a few tasks. You should rest up in the meantime."
Minato, noticing Jiraiya's serious expression, nodded. The excitement on his face faded a little. "Yes, Jiraiya-sensei."
As Jiraiya left, he glanced back at Haneda, who was sitting on a rock. With a smile, he remarked, "Not bad, this young one. It seems you've learned a lot from Sakumo."
It wasn't until Jiraiya was completely out of sight that Obito pulled on Haneda's sleeve excitedly, "Haneda! Haneda! The Pervy Sage was praising you!"
"Yeah, I know," Haneda said dismissively, pushing Obito away. But just then, Haneda sensed something and glanced towards a tree nearby.
From behind the tree, Kushina peeked out, having been discovered.
"Huh?! What are you doing here, Kushina? Is it alright for you to be out?" Minato asked, concerned.
Kushina, realizing she'd been caught, glared at Haneda and the innocent Obito before scratching the back of her head in embarrassment.
"Ah... no... well..." she stammered before quickly coming up with an excuse, "The Third Hokage gave me special permission. He said I could step outside the barrier for a bit."
Minato, trusting her, didn't question it. He even found an excuse for her. "I see, no wonder the usual surveillance seems to have eased up."
"But more importantly..." Kushina suddenly bowed at a ninety-degree angle to Minato. "I'm sorry for getting mad at you earlier."
Seeing her apology, Minato felt even more guilty. After all, he hadn't kept his promise to Kushina, the promise that they would train together on the Uzumaki clan's sealing techniques.
"No, I'm the one who should apologize, Kushina... I didn't keep our promise."
Kushina wasn't worried about that. What intrigued her more was the new jutsu Minato had mentioned. "That jutsu just now... is that the new technique you've been working on?"
"Oh? You saw that, huh?" Minato replied.
"Yeah."
"Well, I broke our promise because I wanted to finish that technique."
"Huh? Why?" Kushina asked, confused.
Looking into Kushina's eyes, Minato paused for a moment before speaking seriously, "Because we're on the verge of war. If war breaks out, the tailed beasts from other nations will be deployed, and you might be sent to the battlefield. So I created this jutsu specifically to fight against tailed beasts and jinchuriki from other nations... That way, you won't have to go to the front lines, Kushina."
Minato continued, "Plus, I can teach it to you. Your chakra is perfectly suited for it."
He gazed deeply into her eyes and said with determination, "Because I really don't want to lose you."
...
Haneda, eavesdropping on their conversation, was torn between wanting to stop listening and fearing he might miss something important. His ears were glued to the gossip.
But when Minato mentioned not wanting to lose Kushina, Haneda felt a deep sense of resolve. It was the same resolve Obito had shown when protecting him.
He couldn't help but feel moved by Minato's love for Kushina.
At that moment, however, a crisis erupted!
"Ahhh!!!"
Kushina lost control, her body enveloped in a red, malevolent chakra. She was rapidly transforming into her tailed beast form!
"What's happening, Kushina?!"
Minato attempted to act, but a tail lashed out, sending him flying back several meters. Blood splattered from his chest, some of it landing on Haneda's face.
"Minato!!" Kushina shouted, panicking as she looked at Minato, but the Nine-Tails seized the moment, trying to tempt her. "I told you, didn't I? You can't trust anyone! Even this guy is using you!"
The Nine-Tails leaned forward, exposing the adamantine sealing chains around its neck. "Hurry! Break this seal completely, and you'll be free of all this pain!"
If you don't, I'll possess you and kill everyone!"
Kushina tried to re-establish the adamantine seal, but the Nine-Tails' power was overwhelming. It was already too late.
Just then, a new seal appeared, binding the Nine-Tails. The seal was in the shape of a spiral—a technique of the Uzumaki clan!
The Nine-Tails was shocked, watching as Minato reinforced the Four Symbols Seal. It couldn't believe that Minato had managed to strengthen the seal according to his own design!
But something even more surprising happened. A pair of Sharingan, with three tomoe, slowly rotated before its eyes.
In that moment, the Nine-Tails was reminded of the terror it had once felt under the control of that man!
"Who are you, you damn Uchiha?!"
The Nine-Tails struggled, but the powerful genjutsu ensnared it within Kushina's mental space.
The beast was infuriated. "Minato, you're such a skilled ninja! Why are you so hung up on this girl?!"
Minato remained silent for a moment before replying with resolve, "Because I love strong people—people stronger than me. That's why I love her. I don't want to lose her!"
Kushina, momentarily dazed, gave the Nine-Tails another opportunity. The beast glared at Haneda and asked bitterly, "And why are you, an inherently evil Uchiha brat, helping her?! She's from the Uzumaki clan, your clan's mortal enemy!"
Haneda, eyes glowing with his Sharingan, glanced at the Nine-Tails behind Kushina and said calmly, "What does that have to do with me? I'm simply helping Minato-senpai, nothing more. You're making this hatred between clans seem too simple, too shallow."
Before Haneda could finish, adamantine chains erupted from Kushina's back, binding the Nine-Tails.
With firm resolve, Kushina declared, "Even I will fight back!"
Furious after being humiliated by three kids, the Nine-Tails had reached its limit. It opened its mouth wide, forming a black and red sphere at its mouth—a Tailed Beast Bomb!
If the bomb was unleashed, the entire training ground would be obliterated, and Haneda and the others would perish!
"Kurama!!"
Suddenly, a familiar voice echoed in the Nine-Tails' ears, causing it to freeze in shock, pausing the formation of the Tailed Beast Bomb.
In that instant, a pair of Sharingan invaded Kushina's mental space entirely. The Nine-Tails saw the boy calling its name—Uchiha Haneda!
With one hand, Haneda closed the Nine-Tails' massive mouth, and vines emerged from his hand, binding the beast completely.
"It ends here. This farce is over."
With just a glance from Haneda's Sharingan, the Nine-Tails was fully subdued.
"You brat! How do you possess both the power of Indra and Asura?! How do you know my name?!"
"With these eyes that can see the future…"
"And don't you think you're talking too much?" Haneda remarked as he helped Minato maintain Kushina's seal. Calmly, he left her mental space.
At the same time, Haneda cast a genjutsu to make Kushina forget what had just transpired.
Kushina, not being a perfect jinchuriki and in a mentally weakened state, completely overlooked what had happened in her mental space. She only remembered Minato risking his life to maintain her seal.
Back in reality, Haneda quietly watched over the unconscious Kushina and Minato.
'Sealing jutsu is too weak against tailed beasts. The Sharingan and Wood Release are much better suited for this.'
