Chapter 49
Although he had already made his choices, Haneda couldn't resist taking a few more glances.
**Four Symbols Seal**, **Mutually Multiplying Explosive Tags**, **Water Style—Severing Wave**, **Wood Style—Flowering Tree World**, **Wood Style—Wood Human Technique**, **Wood Style—True Several Thousand Hands**...
Looking at the series of powerful Wood Style techniques, Haneda couldn't help but drool a little.
His **Sage Body** would soon manifest, and he would likely gain access to Wood Style as well. These Wood Style jutsu were each more incredible than the last.
For example, **Flowering Tree World** could, in a short time, cover a wide area with vines, killing anyone within that region. But that wasn't all—the vines would bloom and release pollen, and even a slight contact with it would cause anyone to pass out. In the original story, even the Five Kage were knocked out after inhaling some, and during the Warring States period, even the legendary Madara Uchiha had to momentarily stop his relentless "dance."
This technique was lethal, whether used for one-on-one battles or large-scale combat.
And then there was **Wood Dragon Technique**, which could be summed up in a single phrase: **Rivaling Susano'o!**
The **Wood Human Technique** released by Hashirama Senju was comparable in both size and strength to the Fully-Armored Susano'o. Their battles even altered the landscape! Truly terrifying!!
As for **True Several Thousand Hands**, no one knows its power better than the Nine-Tails. When Hashirama once said that its power was too strong, and then held the beast down with a single hand, this scene became a common joke. But is the Nine-Tails weak?
Its chakra is equivalent to the combined power of several other tailed beasts! Even half of the Nine-Tails is capable of going toe-to-toe with beings at Kage level. Naruto, at the Final Valley, fought Sasuke—who had absorbed the chakra of eight and a half tailed beasts—with just half of the Nine-Tails' power.
In the movie, the full power of the Nine-Tails' chakra could even pierce through the moon itself.
With this in mind, it's clear just how much power **True Several Thousand Hands** has if it can subdue the Nine-Tails with one hand!
Thinking of this, Haneda silently swore: **"One day, I will obtain all of these!"**
He longingly looked at the collection of Wood Style techniques one last time before moving on to **Reanimation Jutsu**.
As expected, this version of the **Sealing Scroll** was incomplete—it didn't contain **Reanimation Jutsu**.
Haneda pulled his gaze away and instinctively glanced at Kakashi.
At that moment, Kakashi was looking at Haneda, waiting quietly. When their eyes met, he smiled and asked, "Have you made your choice?"
"Yeah," Haneda nodded lightly and closed the **Sealing Scroll**.
At that moment, the ANBU ninjas appropriately took the scroll away.
"Lord Hokage, I've chosen **Shadow Clone Jutsu** and **Bringer-of-Darkness Technique**," Haneda reported to the Third Hokage, with Kakashi close behind him.
"**Shadow Clone Jutsu** and **Bringer-of-Darkness Technique**?" The Third Hokage was somewhat surprised by Haneda's choice.
He could understand the **Bringer-of-Darkness Technique**, as Haneda, being an Uchiha, was naturally adept at genjutsu. Moreover, this technique could compensate for the Sharingan's limited ability to hide the user.
But choosing **Shadow Clone Jutsu** was unexpected. Generally speaking, this technique was most suitable for those with large reserves of chakra. The Uchiha clan's chakra wasn't particularly abundant among bloodline clans, which meant Haneda wouldn't be able to create many shadow clones. Moreover, for most combat scenarios, one or two clones would suffice.
Not fully understanding Haneda's choice, the Third Hokage gave him a serious look and kindly reminded him, "The Uchiha don't have a large chakra pool. This jutsu might not suit you."
"Are you sure you want to choose it?"
Haneda nodded, "Yes, Lord Hokage. I'm curious about the mechanics of the **Shadow Clone Jutsu** and want to study it a bit."
Seeing Haneda's firm resolve, the Third Hokage decided not to press further.
He turned to Kakashi and asked, "And your choice?"
"The **Flying Thunder God Technique**, Lord Hokage," Kakashi answered.
"**Flying Thunder God**, huh?" The Third Hokage nodded in approval.
The combination of the **Flying Thunder God Technique** with the Hatake clan's swordsmanship was a smart choice. After all, Tobirama had once used the **Flying Thunder God Slash** to gravely injure Madara's brother, Izuna. Izuna had even awakened the Mangekyo Sharingan at the time, and the Third Hokage himself hadn't been confident he could defeat him.
"Haneda, Kakashi, the jutsu you've chosen will be delivered to you in a few days."
"Remember, this is a reward for completing an S-rank mission, and it involves village secrets, so keep it confidential."
The Third Hokage's usual gentle expression turned serious.
Haneda understood his point. The Hokage was emphasizing that the rewards were strictly tied to the mission, not any internal political maneuvering by Konoha's leadership. This was both a reminder and a warning—not just to him and Kakashi, but to Uchiha and Sakumo as well: don't expect to leverage the same tactics to squeeze more from the village.
Exchanging a glance with Kakashi, they immediately responded, "Understood, Lord Hokage!"
...
After leaving the Hokage's office, Haneda and Kakashi both seemed more relaxed. A gentle breeze rustled their hair, black and white strands fluttering lightly.
Kakashi glanced at the sky; it was still early in the afternoon.
"Where to next, Haneda?"
"Let's head back to the academy, Kakashi. You're not able to train just yet, and staying alone would be too boring."
Haneda felt a bit embarrassed as he said this and quickly added, "Besides, if we don't return, Obito will start complaining again."
"Oh?" Kakashi smiled and walked alongside Haneda back to the Ninja Academy.
The Hokage building wasn't far from the academy, so they arrived in no time.
As soon as they set foot on the school grounds, the whole place erupted.
Rows of girls leaned over the balcony railings, peering out the classroom windows, all trying to catch a glimpse of the two on the field.
At that moment, Haneda was dressed in a striking white shirt, his black hair falling over his handsome, refined face, making him look especially dashing.
Kakashi, on the other hand, had his signature silver hair, a black mask, and matching black outfit that made him look particularly cool. The dark green scarf around his neck added a touch of softness to his appearance.
As the wind blew and their hair fluttered, the girls collectively swooned.
"Wow, the first-year boys in Class A are so handsome! I wish I could be in their class!"
"I heard the one in the white shirt is Uchiha Haneda, and the one in black with the mask is Hatake Kakashi. Both are super geniuses!"
"What?! They're the famous **Haneda-sama** and **Kakashi-sama**?! No wonder they're so handsome!!"
"Being good-looking is one thing, but they're not just pretty faces—Haneda-sama and Kakashi-sama completed an S-rank mission! That's what makes them true idols!!"
"What?! An S-rank mission?! Even the teachers at this school haven't completed one!"
The gossip spread wildly through the hallways. Even those who hadn't paid attention to Haneda and Kakashi before were now crowding around, staring at their striking looks and undeniable achievements.
Even the teachers couldn't argue with the students' praise, as their accomplishments were undeniable.
But just as things were heating up, one person stood out and shouted, "What's the big deal about being good-looking? You girls are so shallow!"
"Listen up! I, Uchiha Obito, as the future Hokage, declare right here and now!"
"Haneda will be my future Hokage advisor, and Kakashi will be the elder handling my affairs!"
"Everyone, focus your attention on me! I, Uchiha Obito, am the future Hokage!!"
Beneath his light-yellow goggles was a pair of unwavering eyes.
