"Legosi," Louis said, his tone sharp and unforgiving. "What are you doing here?"
"I... I needed to talk to you," Legosi replied, his voice trembling slightly. "About last night."
Louis's eyes darted down the hallway, scanning for any onlookers. His frustration was evident in the way his jaw tightened, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. "Are you out of your mind? People could see you. They could start talking."
Legosi's heart sank, his hope deflating like a balloon. He took a step back, the rejection hitting him hard. "I just thought we could... you know, talk things through. Figure out what happens next."
Louis's gaze softened for a fleeting moment, a flicker of regret crossing his face. But he quickly masked it with a stern resolve. "Legosi, this isn't the time or place. We can't risk anyone seeing us together like this."
The raw emotion in Louis's eyes was unmistakable, a blend of fear and concern. It pained Legosi to see him like this, so guarded and distant. "I understand, but we can't just pretend it didn't happen. We need to talk."
Louis sighed deeply, running a hand through his hair in frustration. "We're not pretending, but we have to be smart about this. If anyone finds out, it could cause problems for both of us."
Legosi's shoulders slumped, the weight of the rejection heavy on his heart. "I understand, but it's hard to just... ignore what happened between us."
Louis's eyes softened again, the stern facade slipping for a moment. "I know. But we have to be cautious. There are too many eyes on us already. We'll talk later, in a place where we can be alone and safe."
Legosi nodded, feeling a mix of disappointment and resignation. "Alright. I'll see you at drama club."
Louis gave him a small, sad smile, his hand lingering on the door. "We'll figure this out, Legosi. I promise."
With that, he gently closed the door, leaving Legosi standing alone in the dimly lit hallway. The sound of the door clicking shut echoed in the silence, amplifying the loneliness he felt. He stood there for a moment, taking deep breaths to steady himself before turning to head back to his dorm.
As he walked back, his mind raced with thoughts of the night before, the intensity of their connection, and the fear of what it could mean for their futures. Each step felt heavier than the last, the weight of uncertainty pressing down on him.
When he finally reached his dorm, he pushed the door open to find his roommates still awake, engaged in their usual banter. Jack looked up from his book, his face creasing with concern as he took in Legosi's expression.
"Legosi, you alright? You look like you've seen a ghost," Jack said, putting his book down.
Legosi forced a weak smile, trying to mask the turmoil inside. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just... had a long day."
Bill, lounging on his bed, glanced over with a smirk. "Long day, huh? Did you get into a fight or something?"
Legosi shook his head, the weak smile fading from his lips. "No, nothing like that. Just... a lot on my mind."
Jack's concern deepened. "If you need to talk about it, we're here for you."
Legosi appreciated the offer but knew this wasn't something he could easily share. The complexity of his emotions, the confusion, the fear, and the unexpected desire—all of it swirled inside him like a storm. He felt like he was drowning in it, unable to find solid ground.
"Thanks, Jack. I appreciate it," he said softly. "I think I'm just going to go out for a walk. Clear my head a bit."
Bill raised an eyebrow, the smirk still playing on his lips. "A walk? At this hour? You sure you're okay, Legosi?"
"Yeah, I'm sure," Legosi replied, trying to sound convincing. "I just need some fresh air."
Without waiting for a response, he turned and left the dorm, the cool night air hitting his face as soon as he stepped outside. The campus was quiet, the usual hustle and bustle of the day replaced by a serene stillness. The silence should have been comforting, but it only amplified the turmoil within him.
He walked aimlessly, his thoughts racing. He couldn't stop replaying the events of the previous night, the feel of Louis's body against his, the intensity of their connection, the look in Louis's eyes when he had opened the door. He felt a deep ache in his chest, a longing he couldn't fully understand.
As he walked, lost in his thoughts, he barely noticed when he almost collided with someone. The sudden impact jolted him out of his reverie, and he looked up to see Juno standing in front of him, her eyes wide with surprise and concern.
"Legosi!" she exclaimed, a bright smile spreading across her face despite her initial shock. "I didn't expect to see you out here."
Legosi took a step back, his heart still racing from the unexpected encounter. "Juno, hey. Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."
Juno's smile softened into one of genuine concern as she studied his face. Her eyes, bright and full of warmth, scanned his features, taking in the subtle signs of distress he couldn't quite hide. "You look like you've got a lot on your mind. Everything okay?"
Legosi forced a smile, trying to mask the turmoil inside him. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just needed to clear my head a bit."
Juno tilted her head slightly, her gaze never leaving his. "You don't look fine. Want to talk about it?"
Legosi hesitated, the weight of his thoughts pressing down on him. He considered brushing her off, but something in Juno's earnest expression made him pause. She had always been kind to him, and maybe, just maybe, talking to her might help ease some of the burden he was carrying.
"It's... complicated," he finally admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Juno nodded, stepping closer and placing a gentle hand on his arm. "I'm a good listener. Let's walk and you can tell me what's going on, if you feel like it."
Legosi looked down at her hand on his arm, feeling a small spark of comfort from her touch. He nodded slowly. "Alright. Thanks, Juno."
They started walking together, the quiet of the night providing a peaceful backdrop for their conversation. The moon cast a silvery glow on the path ahead, and the soft rustle of leaves in the gentle breeze filled the silence between them. Legosi took a deep breath, trying to find the words to explain the tangled mess of his emotions.
"It's just… a lot has happened recently," he began, his voice hesitant. "Things I didn't expect, things I don't really understand yet."
Juno's eyes were focused on him, her expression a mix of curiosity and concern. "Like what?" she asked softly, her voice a soothing balm to his frayed nerves.
Legosi hesitated, the memory of the previous night with Louis flashing through his mind. The intensity of their connection, the raw emotion—it was all so confusing. "It's complicated," he said, struggling to articulate his feelings without revealing too much.
Juno's gaze didn't waver. "I'm here to listen, Legosi. Whatever it is, you can tell me."
He sighed, the weight of his thoughts pressing down on him. "It's about someone… someone I care about, but it's all so mixed up. I don't know how to handle it."
Juno nodded, her hand still gently resting on his arm. "Sometimes, just talking about it can help. You don't have to figure it all out right now. Maybe should start by telling them how to feel. Or are you still figuring it out yourself? Emotions and situations can be complicated."
As they walked, Legosi felt a small measure of relief at her words. Maybe he didn't have to have all the answers right away. Maybe it was okay to just take things one step at a time.
Just as he was about to speak again, a group of figures appeared in the distance, heading toward them. As they drew closer, Legosi recognized them—it was the drama club, with Louis at the forefront. His heart skipped a beat, a mix of emotions flooding him at the sight of the deer.
Louis's eyes met his, a flicker of something unreadable passing across his face. He was surrounded by other drama club members.
"Legosi, Juno," Louis said, his voice calm but with an undercurrent of tension. "What are you two doing out here?"
Legosi felt his throat tighten, unsure of how to respond. Juno, sensing his discomfort, stepped in. "We were just taking a walk. Legosi needed to clear his head."
Louis nodded slowly, his gaze shifting between them. "It's unwise to be out this late alone, just the two of you. They still have security tight around here, wouldn't want anyone to get in trouble,"
Juno gave a small smile. "Legosi is pretty good at sniffing out the guards."
Louis's eyes narrowed slightly, a hint of irritation flickering in his expression. "Just be careful. The drama club does not need the two of you kicked out for something stupid like being out after curfew."
Legosi felt a pang of guilt and confusion at Louis's reaction, but Juno was grabbing his arm and smiling at the rest of the club. "Thanks, Louis. We'll be fine."
Louis's eyes lingered on Legosi for a moment longer as if searching for something. Then he gave a curt nod. "Alright. We'll see you tomorrow, then."
As the drama club moved past them, Legosi couldn't shake the feeling of tension in the air. He watched Louis's retreating figure, his mind a whirlwind of confusion and longing. Juno squeezed his arm gently, drawing his attention back to her.
"Do you want to keep walking?" she asked, her voice gentle. She had a hopeful look in her eye. Legosi might be pretty dense most of the time, but he knew Juno had once had a crush on him. He had told her very clearly he wasn't interested though, even if he didn't quite know she still harbored those feelings. He still found her presence nice to be around though and considered her a friend. It was why he had felt comfortable talking with her and taking a walk alone.
Legosi shook his head, feeling the weight of the encounter pressing down on him. "No, I think I'm just going to head back to my dorm."
Juno looked concerned but nodded understandingly. "Alright. If you ever need to talk, I'm here for you."
Legosi managed a small smile, appreciating her kindness. "Thanks, Juno. I'll see you later."
As he walked back to his dorm alone, the cool night air did little to calm the storm inside him. The encounter with Louis had left him feeling even more conflicted, the deer's mixed signals adding to his confusion. He needed time to think, to sort through his emotions and figure out what he really wanted.
When he finally reached his dorm, he quietly slipped inside, grateful that his roommates were already asleep. He lay down on his bed, staring up at the ceiling, his mind racing. The events of the night replayed over and over, the intensity of his feelings for Louis and the unexpected comfort he found in Juno's presence.
