Chapter 1 - The joke on us

*Author: it is my first time. Please, enjoy

As the bell echoed through the hall, signaling the conclusion of the test period, a wave of relief washed over Jack. It marked the end of a challenging semester, and the much-anticipated holiday was finally coming. Jack packed up his belongings and made his way towards the university entrance, where he spotted his friends eagerly waiting for him. Together, they strolled toward their homes, discussing potential destinations for their upcoming holiday trip.

"Let's consider a beach getaway."

Suggested Ashbell, a towering figure and the brainiac of their group, currently pursuing a degree in IT as a fourth-year student.

Elsa, the vivacious and quite storyteller member of the group, interjected.

"We've already done the beach. How about a mountain retreat this time?"

Shan and Jack readily agreed with Elsa's suggestion. Shan, an honest person once grappling with anger management issues, had shown remarkable progress and was now a fourth-year student studying hotel administration. Jack, known for his easygoing nature and forthright demeanor, is currently immersed in his fourth year of chemistry studies.

Snyder, the composed and multi-talented member of their group, voiced no objections. He was pursuing a degree in electronic engineering as a fourth-year student. Lumi, the spirited and laughter-filled architect in the group, diverted their attention to their regular sports activities, a weekly tradition that we all cherished.

"Let's take a break and dive straight into the holiday."

Urged Sebastian, a shrewd and bragging person, is an economics student in his final year of studies. His suggestion garnered unanimous agreement from the group, and we decided to embark on our holiday adventure without delay.

The following morning, they gathered at Sebastian's residence, where he would take the wheel of his 7-seater car to transport us to Black Bamboo Mountain. Their destination promised breathtaking vistas, a majestic waterfall, and a charming bungalow where they would be staying. The bungalow also offered a delectable specialty breakfast. Throughout the journey, they engaged in lively conversations, bursts of impromptu singing, and frequent stops to capture picturesque moments. It was a truly unforgettable expedition marked by joyous laughter and captivating scenery. As they approach a tunnel, Jack makes a joke.

"They said tunnels are wormholes to another world."

" Bro, you must have been drunk on movies," Synder said and anyone laughed about it.

Even Jack knew it was a ridiculous joke. He made that up to enlighten the mood. As they emerged from the twisting mountain tunnel, the brilliant sunlight flooded our vision, and as our eyes adjusted to the brightness, they found ourselves standing in a colossal, opulent hall. The hall was adorned with exquisitely detailed tapestries depicting ancient battles, magnificent chandeliers casting a warm, golden glow, and regal columns adorned with intricate carvings. The air was charged with a tangible sense of anticipation, and our senses were overwhelmed by the sight of the assembly before them.

The hall was teeming with individuals adorned in resplendent armor, the polished metal reflecting the ambient light in a dazzling display, and mages wielding staffs adorned with pulsating, palm-size jewels that seemed to emanate otherworldly energy. All eyes were fixed on them, and at the far end of the hall, seated on a lofty, elaborately carved throne, was an elderly man clad in a shining yellow cloak and a crown that glinted with precious gemstones. He exuded an unmistakable air of authority, and standing beside him was a young woman exuding an aura of grace and beauty, dressed in a splendid yellow gown that perfectly complemented her striking yellow eyes.

As Jack took in this surreal and breathtaking scene, a thought raced through his mind, 'Goodness gracious! The jest has become a reality.'

The realization that their lighthearted jest about tunnels being wormholes to another world had seemingly materialized sent a shiver down Jack's spine. It was as if they had inadvertently stumbled into a realm straight out of a fantastical tale.

The elderly man, whom they presumed to be the king, regarded with a mixture of curiosity and skepticism, while the princess observed them with an expression of mild amusement. They stood there, utterly dumbfounded, trying to comprehend the inexplicable turn of events.

Snyder, always quick-witted, managed to dispel the tense silence with a nervous chuckle. "Looks like we've truly discovered another world," he quipped, endeavoring to lighten the atmosphere.

The assembly erupted into a cacophony of murmurs and whispers with a piercing gaze from the princess. Everyone looked curious but the Princess had no expression. She was expecting them to be here since she was the one summoned them.

The group of friend exchanged bewildered glances with each others, realizing that they had inadvertently stepped into a situation far beyond their wildest imaginations. It appeared that their unexpected journey had only just commenced.
