Chapter 46 - Harry's Apprentice 4

"So we will be moving on to the next fragment now, you know what it is." Harry spoke in a cheerful attitude.

"Stop acting like nothing happened, you just rounded up kicking my butt." Zain fired, visible annoyed.

"Is that your answer, or do you want a second round." Harry said still cheerful with a smile but this attitude wasn't gonna fool Zain, he know for sure that this is a treath.

Gulp!

I heavy gulp of siliver went down Zain throat. "How do you expect me to have a clue about it master, you haven't taught me about it yet."

"Look at how politely you are addressing me right now, now that is preferable." Harry smirked.

"But don't you think you are hurrying this up, I haven't practiced this first fragment for long enough, what if receive a backlash after this."

"If you would be receiving a backlash, I wouldn't even have been tell you."

"Techniques works differently, it will the better if you learn this whole technique in one go leaving, you can go practice it afterwards."

The second form is called enhanced perception," Harry continued, moving his hand expressively as he spoke.

"You will be able to see aura of any person or equipment or anything at all possessing all kinds of energy. Let's start with the enhanced perception on living things."

"Firstly, you will be able to see the amount of life energy one possesses, which can help you predict people life span regarding how long the can live before they die natural death."

"Secondly, you will be able to see the color, quantity and intensity of their magical aura, that is if they are mage."

"With the color of their aura, you'll be able to guess their magic. With the intensity, you'll be able to gauge their level and how strong they are as mages. "

"And with the quantity, you'll be able to measure how much energy they have."

"So, I believe you are ready to learn it. Harry said, unlike the previous fragment I taught you, this this requires immense concentration on the opponent.

You need to focus intensively on your opponent, you shouldn't try to uses it everywhere simultaneously for first time, you have to focus on one opponent."

"That clearly shouldn't be me because it won't work. We should head back to the school duel ground were mages are constantly utilizing their ability and allowing their aura go wild."

Let's get moving, Harry concluded and they both headed out.

---

Finally reach the training ground, Zain at First observed the arena. He have never visited the school duel ground before so he took sometimes to observe the area.

The school training ground was just like some other area of the school, under the expansion magic. From the outside, it's just a small room but on the inside, it is like a small town of mages, busy with improving their magic and getting stronger.

It has multiple platforms that are set at varying heights, bustling with students practicing their spells. The air was thick with energy, crackling with the intensity of magical auras clashing and colliding as mages practiced their skills. Bright lights flashed as spells were casted.

Zain took a deep breath, feeling the magical energy around him. It was overwhelming but exciting at the same time. "So, this is the duel ground," he whispered, eyes darting between the various groups practicing their techniques, each surrounded by their unique magical auras.

"Impressive, right?" Harry said, his voice barely above a whisper as he leaned closer to Zain. "This is where the mages of the basic rank of this school practice their magic most times. You'll find that every mage has a different style and aura—it's all a part of what makes them unique."

'unique and fake.' Harry didn't voice this part out knowing how much Zain value magic.

Zain nodded, still absorbing the sight. "So, where do we start?"

"First, I want you to find a partner to focus on," Harry instructed, scanning the busy arena for potential mage.

"Look for someone who isn't too far along in their training. This will allow you to gauge their energy without being exhausted."

As Zain glanced around, his eyes landed on a particular student practicing a basic fire spell. The student was struggling, the flames sputtering and flickering in an unpredictable manner.

A soft golden aura only Harry could see surrounded him again, glowed slightly with each attempt he made. "What about him?" Zain pointed.

"Perfect choice!" Harry exclaimed.

"Approach with confidence, try not to stand out and remember: maintain your focus solely on him. Describe what you see once you tune into his aura."

Taking a deep breath, Zain decided to approach the boy. As he walked closer, he concentrated, trying to quiet the noise around him. The chatter of students, the flashes of magic—it all began to fade into the background as he turned his focus inward.

With each step, he focused on the boy, searching for the aura swirling inside him. As he adjust in on the aura, Zain's heart raced; the golden glow brightened, pulsing lightly with the boy's breaths.

"Yes," he thought, feeling the energy resonate with his mind and eyes. The aura flickered like candlelight, revealing its Instability, not that the boy was so strong anyway.

Zain couldn't hold his excitement, he is already starting to get a hang of it already; he could see through the boy like glass, gauge the boy's magical energy, all simultaneously.

Harry wasn't joking when he said the silver gaze ease all other techniques.

The flickers showing that he had it in him but needed more practice to control it.

He could visualize the amount of energy. The boy had a reasonable reserve, but it felt somewhat unstable, like a fire ignited but not yet mastered.

"He's struggling but has the potential," Zain mumbled under his breath as he continued to observe.

The boy had a small dim golden aura mainly residing at the centre of his chest, inside of his body. Each time he uses his magic, the aura flows through an imaginary passage leading to other parts of his body and then, outside.

The imaginary passage resides inside him but he isn't allowing his magic flow through it perfectly that is why his magic continuously fails him and I...

Suddenly, a sharp voice broke through Zain's concentration. "You there! What are you staring at?" The boy spun around, his golden aura spread up from his core through his body passage, ready to attack at any moment, that strangely wasn't showcasing any presence outside.

If not for the fact that Zain could see beyond the normal sight of mages, he wouldn't have noticed and known that this young man has braced himself for battle and any future surprises.

Zain blinked, pretending to be caught off-guard. He opened his mouth but found no words. Harry quickly stepped in, a reassuring smile on his face.

"Apologies, my friend. He's just practicing a technique—he's learning to enhance his perception and needed to test it on you."

The boy squinted, his defensive stance relaxing as curiosity replaced suspicion. "Enhance perception, huh? Barely ever heard of that before."

Harry exchanged a knowing glance with Zain. "That's because it is a not a common... thing."

"Well, I'm in no mood for distractions!" the boy spoke back, but there was a nearly but not perfectly hidden interest in his eyes. "If you think you can perform your perception thing, then do it one me and tell me what you noticed."

Zain was unfazed. This was not what he anticipated though, but then again, he is simply going with the flow of things, maybe he'll make a mage friend here.

"Okay," he replied, pushing aside his nerves. "I'll tell you what I can see."

He fell back into concentration, this time, exterminating all the background noise and chattering. As he focused intently, the other students faded from his mind, leaving only the shimmering aura before him. "I can see… You're struggling with your fire magic, but there's potential in you; the energy is there—it's just being severed."

The boy's eyebrows shot up, his aura flickering with surprise. "How did you know that?"

With a prideful smile, Zain's replied with one word. "Perception."

Harry placed a hand on Zain's shoulder, nodding approvingly. "Looks like you're getting the hang of it Zain, I'm impressed."

"You learn quite quickly... if I am to say, you are pretty adaptive."
