Chereads / Green: The Unknown Legacy / Chapter 27 - Zain vs Damian Rendragon

Chapter 27 - Zain vs Damian Rendragon

Looking at the blade on her neck, Erin's heart pounded. Fear consumed her, overshadowing the pain she had been receiving from her broken bones.

"Although losing this fight is actually not a big deal to most and will not affect me in any way, I still don't want to lose. This is my first fight in the mage school. If I lose, it would hurt my pride real bad," Erin reasoned inwardly. "And it will also hurt the pride of my clan!"

Time magic is a powerful magic that requires a powerful wielder.

Even though Erin is a common-level mage, she is limited to a single magic which still isn't at a reasonable level.

She isn't the problem, her magic is. You are not the only one with secrets under your sleeve.

Closing her eyes, she chanted.

"TIME MAGIC ACTIVATION"

"REVERSE TIME TECHNIQUES"

Boom!

A little explosion of soft green aura bursted out in a ripple, flinging Kox a few meters away.

Getting up from the floor was Erin, her whole body had green energy surging through it. Her left arm that was on the floor slowly lifted upward and attached itself to Erin. It was like all the damage received by her was reversing to before it happened, bringing her back to her prime.

"This is impossible!"

But sadly, the spell exhausted her core energy nearly completely, leaving her to fight with her physical capabilities.

Gasp! Eagleman's jaw dropped at the sight of what he saw. She is displaying the power of an advanced mage when she is only a weak common mage! This is rare.

These kids are proving to be exceptional. The first fight was impressive and this, the second fight is even more fascinating. I just hope this fun will keep going on.

Slowly opening her eyes, the green glow finally faded away and what greeted her next was a slash.

"I didn't want to do this but you leave me no choice," Kox sheathed his Katana before walking away. Moments later, a loud thud was heard as Erin fell onto the ground and her head rolled off.

"I didn't want to kill you but the vibe coming from you, that sudden seriousness and exponential increase in power screamed danger. If I hadn't killed you earlier, then I would have been the one in your place."

"The fight is over!" Eagleman declared to the crowd that was dead silent for a moment, then they all burst into cheers.

To be honest, some people in the crowd still do not know how Erin was defeated, but they still cheered.

"We'll be moving forward to the next fight." It was a fight between a common rank-1 lightning mage named Michael and Harris, a basic-4 rank mage with fire magic.

The fight went on and in a matter of seconds, as expected, Michael won.

Fight after fight came and different winners emerged, while Eagleman made some notes in his floating book.

"So, we will be moving forward to the last and final names on our list."

"Zain and Damian Rendragon, please make your way up to the stage."

Zain's eyes widened as he heard his name being mentioned. The previous fight was so intense and bloody that he felt a shiver down his spine. Deep down, he wished his turn to fight would never come, or at least, it should come as a fight between him and a weak person who won't spill much of his blood all over the platform.

"Zain Vs. Damian Rendragon."

Damian Rendragon is from a powerful family, possessing the power of flame as a family trait that has been passed down since his first great grandpa.

Damian cannot actually be said to be handsome nor ugly. He has a bonnie cheek and a pointed jawbone. His red hair falls all around, covering his forehead completely, and his eyes slightly.

He is in a robe that has a flame logo crested on the back and "Rendragon" boldly written below. It made the robe look more like a uniform representing his family name.

The sight of such is very uncommon in the tier 8 city in general due to how underdeveloped it is in comparison to the outside world.

On the other hand, Zain is a handsome young man. Calling him handsome is an understatement because his looks are exceptional.

Zain is a striking black-haired teenager with a unique twist - the tip of his hair is a vibrant shade of green. His hair is thick and lustrous, falling in loose waves that frame his face and cascade down to his shoulders. The black strands possess a natural shine, adding depth to his overall appearance.

His skin is smooth and radiant, reflecting a healthy glow. It carries a hint of golden undertones, giving him a sun-kissed appearance. His complexion is exceptional, with no visible imperfections, enhancing his youthful charm.

Zain's face is defined by sharp, well-defined features. His eyebrows are thick and neatly arranged, perfectly framing his expressive eyes. His eyes are a deep, intense shade of green, sparkling with curiosity. They hold a captivating presence, drawing others in and revealing his innermost thoughts and emotions.

His nose is straight and proportionate, adding to the symmetry of his face. Just below, his lips are full and naturally pink.

Zain is lean and a little athletic, reflecting his active lifestyle. He stands at an average height, with a well-toned body.

Other than good looks, Zain has nothing else that could help him in the current situation before him. He is more than aware that his breathtaking look is about to be disfigured by his opponent.

The piercing gaze he is receiving from his opponent, Damian, makes him feel like crawling into a hole.

"I just hope he will go easy on me," Zain hoped hopelessly as he made his way through the crowd to the platform.

The piercing gaze of his opponent and the other boys from the crowd gave him an unsettling feeling.

"Hmmmmm! What is this presence I am feeling? His mana and core energy are so faint that my best guess is that he has a premature core," Eagleman observed as he narrowed his eyes towards Zain. "It's nearly as if he just gained his magic."

Climbing onto the stage, Zain's nervousness was clear, displayed on his face.

Eagleman's declaration started. "The fight starts..."

Taking a fighting stance, Damian prepared himself to face Zain, who was struggling to keep a stance. He didn't even know what stance to take.

Time felt like it was moving slowly, and the final word to begin the fight was being delayed by Eagleman until he finally spoke.

"The fight shall not commence!" declared Eagleman.

"What! Why?" Questioned Damian, boiling in rage that increased the pressure on the platform and beyond.

The expression on his face looked calm and straight, but his aura screamed otherwise.

"Zain, I can tell you have a premature magic core," Eagleman started, looking at Zain. "You recently gained magic, didn't you."

"Huh! How did you know?" Zain questioned in surprise.

"Why do you think I am called Eagleman? Do you think the nickname is just for fancy?" Eagleman questioned rhetorically before letting out a short laugh.

"I will have to call off this fight because I already know where you belong, the basic mage division."

Looking at Zain's opponent, Eagleman expected an opposing quarrel from Damian, but it never came.

"Why would he even argue when the outcome is clearly known? It would clearly be a one-sided bloodbath."

"Damian, I hope you understand the situation," questioned Eagleman. "You will automatically be designated into the basic mage division."

"I know this might not feel right, but it is the best. You'll have to show that you deserve a higher rank through your actions and hard work."

"Yeah, you're right," Damian replied in a calm composure, despite his hidden anger, before walking into the crowd. "But bear in mind we must surely fight this battle you just escaped, Zain."
