The whispering plea pulled Sarah back into consciousness, her entire body aching as she felt the sensation of cold, damp stone beneath her. Her head throbbed, and her limbs felt heavy, but that voice—so familiar, so desperate—echoed in her mind. She opened her eyes, blinking against the darkness that engulfed her.
"Alex?" she croaked, her voice weak. She tried to sit up, but a sharp pain in her side kept her grounded.
But when she looked around, she realized she wasn't alone. The place she had fallen into was nothing like the cavern above. It was smaller, more confined, almost like a prison cell carved out of stone.
