"Do you hear that?" Jim whispered, his voice barely audible above the pounding in Alex's ears.
They'd stumbled down a narrow tunnel after their narrow escape from the chamber of shadows, only to find themselves in a place that felt even more unsettling. The passage seemed to stretch endlessly, with walls that appeared to pulse faintly as though alive. Every few steps, a cold gust of air swept past them, carrying with it a low, eerie whisper, like a faint echo of words they couldn't quite make out.
Alex stopped, leaning against the wall, still shaken from the encounter with the figure and the nearly suffocating shadows. They rubbed their temples, trying to clear the lingering fog in their mind.
"I don't hear anything," Alex lied, but the truth was that the whispers were getting louder—closer. They couldn't tell if it was in their head or something else was happening, but it didn't matter. They needed to get out of this place.
