"Whoosh~~ Whoosh~~ Whoosh~~"
Strangely shaped kunai drew beautiful arcs through the air, and Uchiha Gin, strolling lazily, caught the falling Sword of Love, his personal weapon, with a disinterested look on his face.
He scratched his curly hair and noticed a few strands had naturally fallen out. Rolling his lifeless, dead-fish-like eyes, he complained incessantly, "None of them let me rest in peace. I'm losing my hair so young because of all this stress."
After assigning tasks to the young girl, Uchiha Gin sighed, feeling the weight of responsibility. He approached Uchiha Igaku, who was going berserk, and upon seeing the twisted face and conflicted expression of the old man, Gin's anger flared up instantly.
"Yeah, I'm talking about you, old man."
"Ugh, ugh..."
Uchiha Igaku clutched his head, his one eye overflowing with dark energy, groaning in pain. The old jailer, a creation of his ocular power, stood by his side, flickering with an unstable glow, evidently affected by Igaku's emotions.
Seeing that the old man wasn't reacting to his provocation, Uchiha Gin, eager to clock out early, said helplessly, "Hey, hey, hey! Say something, will you?!"
"Don't... try to... control me!"
With Gin's nagging in the background, Uchiha Igaku suddenly shouted, the dark energy completely filling his eye. When he lifted his head, the previously conflicted expression vanished, replaced by an eerie Mangekyou Sharingan pattern in his blackened eye. The look in his eye was now cold and profound, devoid of the previous frustration.
"Gin, since you're unwilling to join me, go to the underworld and reunite with your father."
At this moment, Uchiha Igaku, whose heart had been consumed by darkness, spoke in an emotionless tone. His gaze toward Gin was that of a stranger, as if he was looking at someone irrelevant.
Is every "turning evil" this extreme these days?
It's always about sending people to the afterlife. Show some real power, old man, come on!
"Spectre, attack."
Noticing the disdain in Uchiha Gin's dead-fish eyes, the darkened Yao didn't waste more words. He waved his hand, ordering the old jailer by his side, determined to show Gin just how dangerous he was.
Spectre, the jailer, had lost the ability to speak in his normal form. Upon receiving the command, he instantly merged into the shadows at his feet. Uchiha Gin, relying on his sensory abilities, vaguely traced the movements of the jailer darting through the shadows.
"Underestimating me, huh?"
Gin observed that Spectre was merely circling him, not attacking, which led him to guess that Igaku was just toying with him, playing a cat-and-mouse game. Gin's mouth twitched in annoyance as he muttered under his breath.
With a slight smirk, he gathered chakra in his right palm. Accompanied by a rapid, piercing chirping sound, a brilliant flash of lightning erupted, illuminating half of Gin's face. Finding the light too harsh, Gin put on the sunglasses he always carried. Sensing the power of the lightning in his hand, he squinted and increased the voltage, watching the electric charge become more solid. Satisfied, the seasoned "electrician" nodded.
"Old man, take this 'Raikiri'!"
Since Spectre wasn't attacking, Gin decided to make the first move. With a flick of his wrist, he launched the lightning dog towards Igaku.
What???
Igaku was caught off guard. His grandson wasn't playing by the rules! Instead of finding Spectre's weakness, he attacked him directly.
Such decisiveness — it's just like him. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
In a split second, a shadowy barrier wove itself from the darkness beneath Igaku's feet, rising to absorb the raging lightning without leaving a trace.
"This trick too?"
Uchiha Gin frowned as he studied the shadow manipulation under Igaku's control. It seemed no Mangekyou Sharingan ability was weak — each one was bizarre in its own way. In comparison, Gin's own Mangekyou abilities felt plain and simple.
"Your guess was correct, but you missed one thing."
Igaku, now fully consumed by darkness, was surprisingly calm. Seeing Gin's astonishment, he graciously explained, "It's not just Spectre manipulating the shadows. I, as the host, can control them too. Spectre merely compensates for my physical limitations."
"Did you pay the Nara Clan for a copyright license on that ability?"
Gin wasn't fazed by Igaku's new powers. Instead, he curiously asked the question, throwing Igaku off balance.
Copycat. This is pure plagiarism, without a single change!
"Don't compare my ocular jutsu to that third-rate secret technique!"
Igaku, who had been eagerly waiting for Gin's shocked reaction, almost choked when he heard that. Forcing down the rising negativity in his heart, Igaku gritted his teeth and explained, "It's not the same at all!"
Gin spread his hands in mock surrender, leaning back with an innocent expression that made Igaku's blood pressure spike.
"Spectre, enough playing! Cut his tongue out!"
Unable to bear it any longer, Igaku, with veins bulging on his forehead, ordered Spectre to strike.
In the next moment, the old jailer, who had been hiding in the shadows behind Gin, silently extended his hand, turning it into a shadowy dagger aimed straight for Gin's unsuspecting back.
"Clang!~~~"
Without even turning around, Gin casually blocked the sneak attack with his Sword of Love. A faint blue glow peeked out from beneath his sunglasses as he channeled chakra into the sword.
"Crack!"
To Igaku's disbelief, the shadow dagger shattered in Gin's hand, and the jailer, unable to dodge in time, had a long slash torn across his chest. Seeing the dire situation, Spectre quickly disappeared back into the shadows.
Gin raised an eyebrow, twirling the kunai in his hand. He had clearly sensed that he landed a blow on Spectre and had left a trace of his Mangekyou-enhanced chakra in the wound.
"Was it that kunai? It can actually harm Spectre?"
Yao, sensing through his Mangekyou that Spectre had been injured, stared wide-eyed at the ridiculous-looking kunai in Gin's hand, feeling a growing sense of dread.
He had always relied on Spectre's ability to be elusive, immune to both physical and genjutsu attacks.
"This isn't a novel. Don't expect the enemy to explain everything to you."
With that cryptic remark, Gin instantly dashed forward, his kunai aimed at Igaku. Igaku's remaining eye flickered, and once again, the bizarre jailer appeared, forming twin daggers to strike at Gin's lower half.
"Despicable! Truly despicable! Don't you love your grandson?!"
Gin cursed loudly, forced to abandon his attack on Igaku. He swung his sword, shattering the daggers aimed at him and slicing through the jailer's arm, which disintegrated into ash as it fell.
It seemed clear to Gin that he needed to deal with the jailer before he could have a proper exchange with Igaku.
Igaku wasn't faring well either. Since Spectre was an extension of his ocular powers, any injury the jailer suffered was reflected on him. His chest throbbed in pain, and his arm was now numb and immobile.
Gin's attack caused a momentary lapse in Igaku's concentration, and within the blackness of his pupil, a faint struggle flickered. The normal color of his eye slowly began to return as the suppressed will within him fought back against the darkness.
Just as Gin prepared to strike again, his sensory radar suddenly went off.
To his astonishment, the old man in front of him was flickering between good and evil, as if two forces were fighting for control. Gin hesitated, momentarily unsure of what was happening.
"Don't think you can break free! Everything I've done is to avenge Shinzo!"
With a roar, the darkened Igaku forcefully suppressed the other will within him. Gasping for breath, he lifted his head, staring at Gin with a fierce determination in his eye.
"Spectre, combine with me!"
