Trembling, Uchiha Gin placed his fingers under Senju Itama's nose and mouth, who was foaming at the mouth. He felt a faint breath coming in but none going out, and his heart sank.
Quickly, he stripped off the brat's shirt and pressed his ear to the pale chest, listening carefully. After detecting a weak heartbeat, Uchiha Gin finally sighed in relief.
"Good, he's just fainted," he muttered, calming down after the scare. He dressed Senju Itama again, cleaned up the mess around his mouth and nose, then hoisted him onto the bed, leaving him to recover on his own.
"The Senju clan should have strong life forces, right?" Gin thought guiltily as he gently closed the door behind him.
Looking at the three-tailed doll in his hand, Uchiha Gin sighed. At least he had bought a gift. Hopefully, when that brat wakes up tomorrow, he won't go into hysterics.
After hiding the gift, an exhausted Uchiha Gin decided to take a bath. Once clean, he lit some incense and offered prayers to his ancestor Indra of the Uchiha clan.
With everything ready, it was time to claim his rewards. Entering the system space, Gin looked at the steel heart orb that had been settled on the chessboard earlier that day. Rubbing his hands nervously, he muttered, "Here's hoping my luck is good. Let's open it!"
Feeling the moment was right, Gin didn't hesitate and slapped his hand onto the orb. A burst of dazzling golden light enveloped the heart orb. Seeing the golden light, Gin's heartbeat quickened, and his breath became shallow. Could it be that he was about to hit the jackpot?
[Gold Bars *5] A common currency that can be used for real-world purchases.
What the…?! As the golden light faded, five hefty gold bars appeared neatly arranged on the ground. Gin almost choked, his eyes reddening with frustration as he struggled to calm his irritation.
Turning to the other heart orb, Gin thought, "I've still got one more. The last one was just a warm-up. This one has to be the real deal!"
With both hands pressed together, Gin bowed deeply to the final orb, praying earnestly for a better reward. "Open!"
Bracing himself emotionally, Gin reached out to the orb without joy or sadness. A soft blue light filled the space, and after a few moments, the light condensed into two spheres floating before him. He opened the first one.
[Hyuga Clan Physique *1] Upon use, gain a trace of Hyuga Clan bloodline, with a slight attribute boost.
What?! The Hyuga Clan? Gin stood dumbfounded. In all his years in this world, he had never even met a Hyuga. And didn't their bloodline require Byakugan?
But he had the Sharingan, which should be unrelated even if their clans were distant cousins.
Setting aside this odd reward, Gin opened the second sphere. As the faint light dispersed, words slowly emerged. His sharp eyes caught sight of the term "Wood Release," and he nearly jumped for joy.
At that moment, his hands were trembling, and he began imagining the beautiful scene of summoning a Susanoo wrapped in wooden constructs.
As his breathing quickened, the rest of the words became clear:
[Wood Release: Four-Pillar House] Instantly create a complex wooden residence. Extremely convenient.
What…?! Gin rubbed his eyes hard, shifting his perspective multiple times to ensure he hadn't misread it.
It was indeed the Wood Release used by Yamato, who was known as a miniature Hashirama. Its main use? Building houses.
Gin massaged his temples and tried to console himself, "It's fine. It's still Wood Release, right? At least I won't need to hire anyone to fix the backyard fence now, will I?"
Reluctantly convinced, Gin absorbed the two rewards into his body. Immediately, he felt a warm current flow into his eyes, significantly improving his vision despite not having activated his Sharingan. Apparently, both Uchiha and Hyuga bloodlines shared traits that enhanced eyesight.
The knowledge of "Wood Release: Four-Pillar House" was also imprinted in his mind. Fortunately, it didn't require the Senju bloodline to use.
Muttering curses under his breath, Gin left the system space. Feeling that he had gained a lot, he headed to the backyard and tried out his new ability, recalling the technique's details.
"Wood Release: Four-Pillar House!"
As chakra flowed through him, wooden beams burst from the ground, arranging themselves neatly according to his mental design. The wood rotated and combined to form a precisely constructed fence around the backyard.
Satisfied with the result, which matched his mental image, Gin nodded in approval. Though it wasn't as intricate as Kakashi's Earth Style dog sculptures, it was still clean and elegant.
Clapping his hands and humming a tune, Gin returned to the house. He checked on Senju Itama, who had already recovered and was drooling in his sleep.
"Ah, to be a kid again, carefree and without worries," Gin sighed, feeling the weight of growing up.
The next day, Gin woke up early and made breakfast. He enjoyed his portion first and left another on the table for Itama. After tidying up, he headed to work.
Walking through the Uchiha compound, he passed fellow clansmen heading to their own jobs. Reflecting on the events of the previous day, Gin's mind was in a whirl.
All he had wanted was to find out what had really happened during the clan's massacre six years ago. Instead, he stumbled upon his imprisoned grandfather and uncovered several huge secrets.
The original owner of his body was supposed to have the Mangekyō Sharingan but had it stolen by his treacherous uncle, who also murdered his parents to seize the clan leadership. Gin's eyes were soon to awaken, and with them, he could rise to the top of the clan.
But before he could fully digest these revelations, he ran into Uchiha Izuna, who cast doubt on everything his grandfather had said.
"Can we stop with the dark, edgy storylines already? Where's the promised lighthearted comedy?" Gin grumbled, ruffling his curly hair in frustration.
"Hey, cousin! Where are you off to so early?"
Uchiha Izuna's loud voice snapped Gin out of his thoughts, pulling him back to reality.
"What else? Work. I've become a sad, working adult, Izuna. Cherish your carefree days while you can."
Sighing, Gin patted the small spiky-haired head of the clueless Uchiha Izuna. All Uchiha children seemed to have this goofy aura when they were young.
"I don't get it. I'll never need to work when I grow up anyway. My family's rich!"
Izuna proudly puffed out his chest, brushing off Gin's hand with disdain.
"Smack!"
Gin delivered a classic forehead flick of justice.
"That's why I hate cocky brats," he muttered, shaking his slightly sore hand as Izuna crouched down, clutching his head.
Ignoring the sulking kid, Gin continued on his way to his office.
"Lord Gin, did you manage to see the old jailer?"
Gin had barely sat down when Uchiha Matawa poked his head through the door, asking cautiously.
"Yes, I did. Thanks a lot for your help, Brother Matawa."
Gin didn't hold back on the praise for the efficient Matawa.
"With your talent, Brother Matawa, you shouldn't be stuck as a mere jail guard. Join my team, and you'll be able to showcase your skills and fulfill your ambitions!"
