Jack walked down the hall of his apartment, the tension still coiled tight in his chest. He could feel Ruby's presence beside him, her steps light but measured. The moment between Lena and Liam wasn't sitting right with him, but he tried to brush it off. Maybe he was overthinking. Maybe not. Either way, he couldn't shake the feeling that things were spiraling out of his control.
Ruby broke the silence first. "Are you okay?" Her voice was soft, but there was a trace of concern.
Jack didn't answer right away. Instead, he stopped in front of the kitchen counter and leaned against it, running a hand through his hair. "Honestly? I don't know. Something's off. I just can't figure out what."
Ruby reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder, squeezing gently. "Jack, Lena's your friend, right? You've trusted her this far. Maybe… you're reading too much into it."
