"Jack, are you okay?" Lena's voice came through the phone, soft and concerned.
Jack leaned back on the chair in his hotel room, staring at the ceiling. "I'm fine, Lena. Just tired."
"You sound more than tired," Lena pressed. "These fights... they're dangerous, Jack."
"I know," Jack replied, his voice firm. "But I'm doing this for us. For you."
"I didn't ask for this," Lena said quietly.
"You didn't have to," Jack sighed. "It's my debt to settle."
There was a long pause on the other end before Lena spoke again. "Just... promise me you'll stay safe."
"I promise," Jack said, though he wasn't sure he believed it himself.

A sudden knock at the door interrupted his thoughts. Jack glanced at his phone. "Lena, I'll call you later. Someone's here."
"Be careful," Lena said before the call ended.
