The daily routine began anew, Zephyrine still on bed, rolled to the other side trying to hug her man. But she found the bed empty and cold. She frowned and opened her eyes at alert. She sat up and searched the room with her eyes. Upon searching, she stumbled on him looking exhausted.
He sat on the couch staring at her as she gawg throughout the night. He was unable to sleep, which left him dehydrated and tired. She gasped in shock at his look. He looked like he had been deprived of sleep for thousands of years.
Alarmed, she hopped out of bed and dashed across the cold floor. "Kendrick, what's wrong?" she asked, worry in her voice. "You look like you need a nap, like, yesterday!"
Kendrick didn't blink. His eyes were deep-set, and his skin looked ghostly pale. He seemed so close to collapsing. Zephyrine's heart ached for him. She felt bad for not noticing how rough the night had been for him.
