They say second chances don't happen but what if I told you there is always a second chance? Many thought I was delusional when I explained this theory. They thought I was a psycho. On the day of reckoning, I was forgotten as though I never said a thing.
It's 6th June 2055, on this day the human race changes for better and worse. A supreme deity, a god from above descends on earth and revolutionizes all humans. His name was Zenith. All humans were given a special ability by this god. Ignoring the evil or good in their hearts he gave superhuman abilities to all. This shook the principles of the world and its strategies to cope with an ever-changing society. This change was sporadic and shifted the power balance. Now everyone had a shot to be anything they wanted to be.
From there the god chose specific individuals to be gifted with powers that transcend human comprehension. These individuals were just teenagers and were given the title "Paragons". They were spread out to the various countries to protect and maintain the balance. At least every country had about 10 to 15 champs. Although gifted with rare powers anyone who trains hard enough can surpass these paragons. A paragon isn't someone to be looked down upon. The ancient legends say the first paragons to be selected had powers similar to that of Zenith. As a paragon one does not live a normal life. Everyone around and close to them is affected by their actions. What's worse is the sinister organizations trying to capture paragons and turn them into weapons of mass destruction. Therefore, a paragon can never let his or her guard down. Zenith did make one mistake, and I don't blame him. According to legends He was young and wanted to make friends. So, He chose random teens to be paragons so He could have friends who could at least stand with it. I said He made a mistake well you will know that mistake soon. Only the paragons could see Zenith from time to time. As the years passed by paragons grew old, but Zenith always remained young. Therefore, the paragons would relinquish their powers, and they would be passed on to another. At the age of 23, a paragon must relinquish his or her powers. Aside from this if he or she dies the power is lost forever. Now the new world system was created to enhance the use of powers to make life simpler and safer. Neutral zones were created to prevent the use of powers in restricted areas. Schools now used the Human Enhancement and Ability Testing (H.E.A.T) to asses students and their powers. They didn't preach the use of powers for the greater good but rather how to control one's abilities. The founder of this foundation once said "Where there is a hero, there is a villain. Where there is light there are shadows to follow." Therefore, he claims to let the student pick his or her path. Now that's where I come in. Well, I am not a paragon, nor do I train hard to become one. No, my case is different. I had to go through a lot to get to where I am. My name is Chris Xever. I am 15 years old, and I will be telling you, my story. Let's start with my junior high school days.
