Chapter 159 - 159. Whispers of the Seer

The forest had grown unnaturally quiet, as if the entire world held its breath in anticipation. Aran's eyes remained fixed on the hooded figure standing in the clearing ahead, the man's face obscured beneath the deep shadow of his cloak. His glowing eyes pierced through the darkness, unsettling and ancient.

Lyssa's hand hovered over her sword, her stance tense and ready for a fight. Seraphina kept her blade at the ready, her eyes narrowed with suspicion. Edward, visibly shaken, clutched his staff tighter, the faint glow at its tip the only source of light in the oppressive night.

"Who are you?" Aran demanded, his voice steady but firm.

The figure did not immediately respond, instead taking a slow step forward. His movements were fluid, like the shifting of shadows. "You already know who I am," he said, his voice a low, resonant whisper that seemed to echo in the trees. "I am the Seer's messenger, sent to guide you to your next step."

Aran's eyes narrowed, glancing at Lyssa for confirmation. She had spoken of the Seer, the one who could tell them more about the Sanctum. But something about this figure felt off, as if there were layers of secrets hidden behind his calm words.

"You've been following us," Lyssa said, her voice cutting through the silence like a blade. "Watching us fight off those wraiths. Why didn't you help sooner?"

The messenger's lips curved into a faint smile. "You did not need my help. The wraiths were mere observers, meant to test your strength and resolve. It is your will that drew their attention, not your weakness."

Seraphina took a step forward, her sword gleaming under the pale moonlight. "What do you want from us?"

The man's glowing eyes shifted toward her, gleaming like distant stars. "It is not what I want," he replied. "It is what the Seer requires of you. You seek answers about the Sanctum of the Lost. The Seer holds that knowledge, but only if you are ready to face the truth."

Aran's heart quickened. The Sanctum—their entire journey had led to this moment, and now they stood on the precipice of discovering the truth that could either save or destroy their world.

"And if we refuse?" Aran asked, his voice firm.

The messenger's smile faded. "Then the Void will consume everything. It is your choice."

The weight of his words settled over them like a thick fog. Aran's hand instinctively tightened on his sword hilt, the reality of their situation pressing down on him. They had no choice but to trust this man, as unsettling as he was.

"Lead us to the Seer," Aran said, his voice steady despite the growing unease in his chest. "We don't have time to waste."

Without another word, the hooded figure turned and began walking deeper into the forest, his footsteps silent as he glided across the ground. The group hesitated for a brief moment, exchanging wary glances before following him into the trees.

**The Path to the Seer**

The journey through the dense forest felt surreal, as if they were walking through a dream. The air grew colder with every step, and the trees seemed to close in around them, their gnarled branches reaching out like skeletal hands. Despite the oppressive atmosphere, the messenger moved with a calm certainty, never hesitating as he led them through the maze of shadows.

Edward walked close behind Aran, his eyes darting nervously from side to side. "I don't like this," he muttered under his breath. "This place… it's not right."

Aran couldn't disagree. The forest felt alive, but not in the way the natural world should. There was something sinister lurking in the darkness, something ancient and malevolent. Yet, they had no choice but to continue forward.

Eventually, the trees began to thin, revealing a large clearing bathed in an ethereal, pale light. At the center of the clearing stood a simple stone structure, small and unassuming, its surface covered in moss and strange runes. It seemed ancient, as if it had stood in that place for eons, untouched by time.

"The Seer waits for you inside," the hooded figure said, stopping at the edge of the clearing. "He has foreseen your arrival."

Aran glanced at the others. Lyssa's expression remained unreadable, but there was a tension in her posture that betrayed her unease. Seraphina gripped her sword tightly, her eyes never leaving the structure. Edward, despite his fear, straightened his shoulders, as if bracing himself for whatever lay ahead.

Taking a deep breath, Aran stepped forward. As they approached the stone dwelling, the door creaked open slowly, as if inviting them inside.

**The Seer's Revelation**

The inside of the stone structure was much larger than it appeared from the outside. The walls were lined with shelves filled with dusty scrolls and books, the air thick with the scent of old parchment and herbs. At the center of the room sat a lone figure—a hunched old man cloaked in robes, his face hidden beneath a hood even deeper than the messenger's.

But it was his eyes that drew Aran's attention—bright, glowing orbs of light that seemed to see through him, as if they could peer into the very essence of his soul.

"Welcome, travelers," the Seer rasped, his voice dry and brittle, like leaves crushed underfoot. "I have been waiting for you."

Aran felt a chill run down his spine. "You're the Seer of Avenmor?"

The old man nodded slowly, his glowing eyes never leaving Aran's face. "I am. And I know why you have come."

Lyssa stepped forward, her voice sharp and direct. "We need to know about the Sanctum of the Lost. What is it, and how can it help us stop the Void?"

The Seer's gaze shifted to her, then back to Aran. "The Sanctum of the Lost… it is not a place, but a convergence of power, hidden in the spaces between worlds. It holds the key to the Void's destruction, but also to its rebirth."

Aran's heart pounded. "What do you mean?"

The Seer sighed, his hunched form trembling slightly as he spoke. "The Void is a force of nature—an endless hunger that seeks to consume all. But within the Sanctum lies the power to control it. The power to shape the Void or be consumed by it. Whoever unlocks the Sanctum will decide the fate of all worlds."

The room fell silent as the weight of the Seer's words settled over them.

Seraphina's voice was tight with urgency. "Then how do we find the Sanctum?"

The Seer's glowing eyes bore into Aran. "The path to the Sanctum lies through the heart of the Void. You must face it—confront the darkness within, and only then will the way be revealed."

Aran swallowed hard, his mind racing. The Void wasn't just an external threat—it was something they had to confront within themselves. It was a test, a trial that would either save the world or doom it.

The Seer raised a gnarled hand, and the air in the room shimmered. A swirling portal of light and shadow appeared before them, pulsing with energy.

"Enter, if you dare," the Seer whispered. "But remember—once you step through, there is no turning back."

Aran stared at the portal, his heart pounding in his chest. This was it—the moment they had been fighting toward. The Sanctum lay just beyond, but so did the Void's full power.

Taking a deep breath, Aran stepped toward the portal.

His journey had led him here, and now, the fate of all worlds hung in the balance.
