The tavern was full of chatter and smelled of liquor. Geneva adjusted the hood covering her face as she made her way to the counter.
"A cup of beer." She said, placing two copper pieces on the counter. The fat man behind the counter gave her a suspicious look, omw she couldn't see but could tell was there. She got that all the time.
"The likes of you isn't welcomed here, yether." He snarled at her.
Geneva took a deep breath and raised her head a little. "I just want some beer." She said lowly.
"Get out of here!" He barked at her.
Geneva raised her head fully and met his gaze. He tried looking away but was too late. He had already stared into her purple depths. His body instantly froze and his eyes turned white.
She sighed and backed away from the counter. Everyone in the tavern had noticed her by now. This was definitely not what she planned. All she wanted was a damn drink.
They were inching closer to her but she could smell their fear, could hear their thoughts.Everyone was scared of a yether. A being who could freeze you with just a look. It was a pity she was one of the few left and no matter where she went, she was seen as a threat.
She didn't want a fight. She was exhausted from her travels to fight all these people. Using her powers was not something she liked doing but in situations like this, she had no other choice.
She pulled back her hood, fiery red hair framing her face, purple eyes daring anyone to look into them.
Everyone backed away, shielding their eyes from the deadly gaze she was unfortunately blessed with. As she walked out of the tavern, she grabbed the wooden cup of beer on the table close to the door and gulped down it's contents.
All she wanted was a drink.

"Where were you?" Agnes asked the red hair.
"Getting a drink." She said, taking off her cloak.
"I heard you caused a commotion." Agnes said, picking up the discarded cloak.
"I did not.". Geneva defended. "If only he had just listened." She said and slumped om the bed.
"You should never let your emotions get the better of you." Agnes said and bent down to arrange Geneva discarded boots.
Geneva turned to her and met her gaze. "I can't control it if it just happens when I look at someone." She said and went back to burying her face in the pillow.
"Yes you can. I've told you about yether's who could control it."
"They spent most of their lives learning to control it and didn't have long to live after that." Geneva said, her voice muffled by the pillow.
"But still, they tried something. You can -"
"Agnes," Geneva called, sitting up. "You might be one of the luckiest people alive cause my powers have no effect on you, but trying to feed me false hope...please stop. We both know it's a curse." She said and walked barefoot across the room.
Agnes was silent for a while. "We'll be leaving for Grandula tomorrow morning. You should get ready to meet the other yethers." She said.
"I've been waiting for it all my life." Geneva said and popped a grape into her mouth. "I was born ready." She said.
"Let's hope you are. The yethers left have resorted to living a peaceful life, causing no harm to others. But you on the other hand, you've been freezing people for the past two weeks of our travel. They might not accept you." Agnes said.
"They'll have to. Who knows, if they don't, I might go about causing more trouble. That might break the alliance they have with some human kingdoms." Geneva said and popped more grapes into her mouth.
"Are you going to threaten them?" Agnes asked in amusement.
Geneva chuckled. "Me? Threaten a bunch of old pricks? No way."
Agnes laughed. "Just stay away from trouble."
"I can't do that if I'm around people."
"That's why I told you never leave the inn. You just never listen."
A knock sounded on the door, breaking their conversation.
"Expecting anyone?" Agnes asked.
"Might be the frozen man from the tavern, who knows?" Geneva teased. Of course she wasn't expecting anyone.
"Well, I'm not." Agnes said.
"So you won't get the door? Might be important." Geneva said and went to the bed.
Agnes went to the door and opened it.
Geneva didn't hear what was being said, probably because she wasn't listening. She heard Agnes close the door and walked towards the bed.
"What is it?" Geneva said, sitting up.
"A letter, from Grandula." She said.
That took both of them by surprise.
"What does it say?" Geneva said, climbing down.
Agnes opened the letter and scanned through. Then she gasped and her face turned pale. "Oh no." She raised her brown eyes to meet Geneva's purple ones.
"Grandula has been attacked and put under siege."

He didn't know why the order was given and why it had to be carried out with such urgency, he just had to execute it.
He sat in a corner, book in his hand while his men rounded up the yethers. In reality, he actually the yethers to be interesting beings, had read a lot about them but the society he was in was so much against their existence, they had to break their trust just so they could put an end to this bloodline.
He didn't lift his eyes from the book he was readings as one of his men made a yether kneel in front of him. His bald head was wrinkled, so was his entire body. He was blindfolded, arms chained behind him, his clothes disheveled. Blood ran from under the blindfold, possible from his eyes. Gordon didn't want to investigate.
Gordon shut the book he was reading and moved closer to the man. "Who did you send the letter to?" He asked.
"Unlike a despicable human like yourselves, yethers don't break trust." The man spat at him, distaste in her tone.
Gordon sighed. He didn't want to deal with this. But he had to.
"Your kind has always caused trouble for humans. A few years of peace from your end won't dispel the distrust humans have in your kind." Gordon said.
"So you plan on destroying us all?" The man chuckled. "Mark my words boy, even if you kill us all hee today, you'll never get your hands on every last bit of my kind."
Gordon sighed and signalled for for the man to be taken away. Of course, he should have expected this from them. They were always a tough nut to crack.
Setting his book aside, he stood up from his seat, beckoning on one of his men.
"Send a letter to the empire. Tell the emperor this mission will be on hold until I see him. We won't get much from eliminating them all like this. We'll need them to get the others." He said.
The commander hesitated. "General, the emperor will be furious. This mission is supposed to be a quick elimination." Ian protested.
Gordon gave him a look. "He will be furious, and I'll be the one dealing with that. Prepare my horse. I leave immediately."
