Soren swiped his sword, but it dropped to the ground. It was so quick I'd blinked and missed his movement. I stared wide-eyed at the creature's hand punched through Soren's chest, and the bag of sweets fell from my hands. A scream crawled its way up my throat, but I caught it before my horror could grab hold of me.
I rushed forward, reaching for the sword. My movements instantly snapped the creature's attention to me. He flung Soren to the side like a discarded toy as I struggled to lift the sword. Its head tilted to the side as those deep crimson eyes observed me, stepping closer, taking its time.
I didn't realise I was backing away, the sword dragging on the ground in front of me. Goddess, why was I so weak? I glanced at Soren. It was a mistake.
The creature's face was right in front of me. "Ah!" On reflex, I punched it in the face. It didn't so much as blink.
"Lli…" It said, taking the sword from my hand and tossing it aside.
