"Ugh, my head hurts," It looked like I was trapped in some cage, thankfully it was made out of wood so it'd be easy to break out of there. The cage was suspended in the air by a good few meters. Around the cage were several of those tiki-faced monsters. It seems like the cage was located in the middle of their village–which consists of wood, stone, and hay. Looking at this place reminded me of some gory tribal cannibal anime I had watched quietly praying these tribal folks were nothing like the tribe in that anime.
Better escape now. I don't know if the base is destroyed or not. It wasn't here at the very least.
[JACKSON]
"Oh, it's you," Quite surprised the System called me by my name.
[I WOULD LIKE TO APOLOGIZE FOR MY ACTION]
Wait, it's saying sorry! That's surprising considering how stubborn they were last time. It would be useless to stay mad at them forever. I'll forgive them if they won't keep any more secrets.
"Just stop keeping secrets ok?"
[UNFORTUNATELY, I CAN'T KEEP THAT VOW, I FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE]
Ok then maybe I'll be mad at them for a lot longer. "So nothing changed huh?"
[THY SHOULD KNOW MY SACRED VOW IS TO PROTECT THOU'S LIFE]
"Fine, still piss you won't tell me anything," At the very least it's better than nothing so that's something.
[THOUGH I WILL TELL THY ONE SECRET]
"What is it?"
[WHY I CHOOSE THOU TO BE MY VESSEL, WHAT IS MY GREATEST WISH]
"Your greatest wish," I remembered it all so clearly; those two words were at the back of my mind just wondering what it is
[I WANT THOU TO PIECE ME BACK TOGETHER]
"Piece you back together?"
[LONG AGO I WAS SHATTERED, EACH PIECE WAS LOST IN THIS ENDLESS LABYRINTH CALLED THE WORLD]
"Why can't you collect it yourself?"
[I CAN NOT, THOSE PIECES ARE IN PLACES EVEN MY MIGHT CAN NOT REACH]
"Is that why you're helping me?"
[THY IS CORRECT, NO MORTAL CAN NOT HOLD MY POWER ALONE BUT IF THEY'RE STRONG ENOUGH IT'S A POSSIBILITY]
"Who broke you? Are they gonna come for me next?" If someone as powerful as the System was beaten by these guys I'm screwed.
[I CAN'T SAY, BUT REST ASSURED AS LONG AS THOU STAY HIDDEN THEY WON'T FIND THY]
"I'm still not assured at all, come on they beat you!"
[THY IS OVERESTIMATING THEM, IF I WERE TO FIGHT THEM AGAIN MY EPIC POWER SHALL CONQUER THEM!]
"They shattered you." I doubt the System's claim.
[THEY CAUGHT ME BY SURPRISE]
"So, they still must've been powerful!"
[THEY ARE]
"So System, why did you make that Calamity stat?"
[THIS IS THE CONSEQUENCE OF USING MY POWER, NO MORTAL CAN NOT HANDLE IT'LL TURN THEM INTO A BEAST OF DESTRUCTION]
"Why can't you get rid of it?"
[IT'S NOT POSSIBLE, THIS IS A BYPRODUCT OF INHABITING IN THY BODY]
"There isn't any other way?"
[IF THY BECOMES POWERFUL, THE POWER OF CALAMITY SHALL SUBMIT TO THY STRENGTH]
While watching the monster guards talking with each other I began to ponder if fixing the System was the right thing to do. Those people who shattered the System must've had a good reason to do it right? Maybe my theory about the System being a Demon was true, what if I'm on the precipice of an apocalyptic event right now, opening a Pandora's Box right now–this is even assuming fixing the System is possible I'm just a teenager how the hell I could help this eldritch creature yet . . .
[I KNOW THY HAST NO OBLIGATION TO DO IT]
"I'll do it."
[REALLY? EVEN THOUGH I HAD THRUST THIS DUTY UPON THY?]
"Yeah, my older sister always said to be helpful to everyone. So that probably includes an eldritch being like yourself."
[SUCH A IDEALISTIC YET NAIVE PHILOSOPHY]
"It's not naive!"
[DISAGREE]
"So what happens after you're fixed?" I'm hopeful I'm not helping a monster if so I might have to backpedal.
[THY IS WORRIED I'LL END THE WORLD?]
"NOPE!"
[DO NOT BE ALARMED, AFTER THY HAST FIX ME I'LL LEAVE THY BODY AND SLUMBER, THOU SHALL STILL POSSESS THY ABILITIES]
"Well if you say so," I shrugged.
[THY BELIEVE ME SO EASILY, WHAT IF I'M JUST A SNAKE TRYING TO GAIN THY TRUST?]
"Despite you keeping secrets from me it was to protect me, the entire time I've been here you have always helped me, it's not fair if I don't give you the same olive branch."
I waited for the System to respond. Nothing happened, and no screen appeared. A few seconds passed, and it was getting worrying. "System?"
[THANK YOU JACKSON, AGAIN I APOLOGIZE FOR KEEPING A GREAT SECRET]
"You're welcome. It's time to get out of here," I said, Getting up and stretching my arms and legs.
[DOES THY NOT REMEMBER THOU CAN QUIT THE MISSION?]
"Nah, I'll complete this mission."
A sword getting unsheathed.
Thanks to the flaming light of Critical Strike the guards had noticed me, and all of them began to shout and point their spears at me–in a flash the cage was destroyed, after landing in a few seconds eliminating all of the guard monsters.
I should find the base quickly but it could be already destroyed if so am I just trapped here or will I be transported back? "Hey System, can you show me where the base is?"
[I CANNOT]
"What!"
[I MERELY CREATED THE CALAMITY SYSTEM, I DO NOT GOVERNED IT]
"That's bull crap!" Then several of those tiki-faced monsters came out of the huts angrily shouting something. Thank god it was just those tiny monsters, other tiki-masked monsters.
I rushed toward them, grabbed the closest one near me, and slammed the tiki monster into the ground. It stopped moving. In a few minutes, I defeated the monsters.
[CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE LEVELED UP TO THIRTY-SEVEN!]
[+3 Points]
Will save the points for later, right now I have to find where the base is.
Even more of those monsters run out of several of those wooden huts, jeez there is no end to them! Each one looked mad and carried wooden weapons like spears or swords. It'd be easy to kill them all but that'll distract me from finding out where the base is. "Hey System, can you at least tell me if the Base is ok?"
[THE BASE HAST NOT BEEN DESTROYED]
Great now all I have to do is find that thing is the tricky part. Reinforcing my legs with Mana I sprinted off leaving all the monsters in the dust. Running through the village was confusing, it was like a maze running through it. Everywhere looked the same, just huts of different sizes, not helping the fact a whole horde of these things were chasing me and blocking some ways. There were even some who were throwing spears at me from their huts.
A spear flew by barely hitting my cheek, though no blood came out.
Stopping my tracks and then went to a small opening between the huts. Settings down a bit to try and recuperate and think of an actual plan instead of running around like a headless chicken.
[WHY DID THOU STOPPED?]
"Thinking of a plan."
Is there some way I can lose the horde of monsters chasing me and also help me find the base? I see some of the monsters run past the opening I'm in, completely oblivious to my presence.
One of them suddenly stopped dead in its tracks. Did it notice? It looked around the area, looking up at the rooftops, and after seeing nothing, continued to move again.
That's it, I have a plan!
Putting Mana in my legs then jumping high into the air and grabbing hold of the ledge pulling myself up with all my strength. "Whew, made it."
On top of the rooftops was a much better vantage point, being on top of it was making it clear that if I had kept running I would have been lost. There were thousands upon thousands of huts each one sprawling with those monsters, maybe calling this place a village wasn't correct. It was an entire city of huts here.
Something in the distance caught my interest, it was a wooden structure. The base! Looks like it'll be a while before I make it back.
[LOOK OUT!]
Quickly blocked the attack with Critical Strike, despite this, I knocked through the hut I was standing on. Falling then landing on a table the attacker jumped through the hole they created; just rolled out of the way in time so they wouldn't crush me.
Backing away slowly allowed me to get a proper look at them, it was that tiki-masked monster. "It's you."
Its arms were covered in that thick white and purple mist.
This time I'm ready, it ran; first throwing a couple of strikes, crap all of them were too fast! My back landed on the wall in the far side of the room–something was coming out of my mouth. It tasted like iron spitting out revealing it to be blood. "Crap . . . "
In two seconds I poured Mana into my body to make it stronger and then activated Critical Strike to further enhance my strength.
In an instant, this thing appeared right before me! Lifted me and threw me across the room. Smashing through several pieces of furniture before stopping at another wall. It took all my will to even stand up and face this thing–everything hurt so badly.
It runs towards me, fist aiming for my face, but, in, pure luck, I, it dodges the attack. Not wanting to waste this opportunity, it throws a Critical Strike, knocking it across the room. Standing up, I noticed something peculiar: Blood seemed to be dripping underneath its mask.
So it is possible to hurt this thing, the only problem is speed. Way too fast for me to hit it and that one was just a lucky shot—who knows when I'll be able to get another one in.
In an instant, both I and this thing clashed, with every strike it kept dodging but once in a while, I hit this thing causing more blood to spill from its mask. Despite every punch I landed it had already attacked me twenty times over. Backing away to give myself some room to breathe trying to think of another strategy.
[REMEMBER THY LESSONS]
Remember my lesson? What lesson is it talking about- wait a second! I poured Mana into my brain. Carefully not to pour too much-!
The monster punched me in the face, the feeling of burning hot liquid spilling out of my mouth was painful; I got blown away and sent to another room. It hurt so badly! The pain was too much! Curling up into a fetal position holding my stomach in pain. "Crap . . . "
Even if it hurt, this was perfect. I have enough time to quickly concrete. Closing my eyes began to pour Mana into my brain.
The footsteps of this thing were getting closer and closer.
Pouring more Mana.
Its steps were getting slower, why hasn't this thing attacked me yet? Could it be it's savoring me cowering in fear? Well, then I'll make sure it'll regret making that mistake.
Everything around me was clear like glass, in just two seconds I had devised several strategies to beat this thing. In a flash punches the monster with a Critical Strike.
It recovered quickly, sending out several strikes this time it was different. I saw each strike like it was in semi-slow motion–reinforcing my body with Mana to keep up the speed enabled me to dodge all of their attacks. "I got you!"
Reinforcing my arm with Mana then activating Critical Strike with it to get even more damage.
This devastating combination finishes the fight, Making a giant hole in its chest. Blood dripped down on the floor, it took a couple of junky steps, and even though most of its chest was gone I could somehow tell it was taking its final breaths. It reached its arm out to touch my face, its lanky black finger was about to reach my face before it fell to the floor, it wasn't alive anymore.
"Oh thank god," Similar to the monster, I'd fallen to the ground completely exhausted beyond belief. I'd wished the mission to be over now but sadly it wasn't, the Base hadn't reached its destination yet.
[THOU SHOULD THANK MY ESTEEMED SELF, NOT THAT FRAUD!]
"Whatever you say, I better get back."
Standing up, from a window next to me gave a clear view of the monster going to where the hut I was in–likely heard the commotion the fight made. Reinforcing my legs with Mana I jumped through the hole.
[CONGRATULATIONS PLAYER KILLED A VOID HUNTER, WOULD A PLAYER WANT TO LEARN THE SKILL 'VOID STYLE'?]
A new skill called 'Void Style'? That sounded ominous but also kinda cool to be honest. That begs the question of what it does, since it appeared after killing that monster or 'Void Hunter' maybe it'll grant me that ability, but it just looked like a purple version of my Critical Strike.
"Hey System, can you tell me about the Void Style?"
[MY DEEPEST APOLOGIES FOR I CANNOT]
"Oh really?" But might as well, maybe it has a different effect than Critical Strike. Pressed the yes button.
Just like when I first learned Critical Strike, the information on how to use Void Style flooded my brain, already teaching my brain the fundamental uses as if I was already accustomed to using the skill.
The Purple thick mist appeared around my hand, though instead of white it was replaced by black. With the simple thought the mist-like appearance began to harden to make it a circular object.
[50+ Strength]
Void Style wasn't a Critical Strike ripoff; it was more like clay that can be molded into different things depending on my desires, but the drawback is the more complex the shape is, the more Mana it requires. Like right now just making it a circular has cost me a large amount of Mana and maintaining it is costing me even more. I turn the skill off. I'll be fine with Critical Strike for now.
Began to make my way to the base.
After jumping between the houses and dodging the occasional spears that were thrown at me I landed on a particularly big hut. The base was there, and there were a few scratches and paint on the main body aside from that it looked fine.
Below on the ground were those small tiki-faced monsters, all of them dancing around the base and chanting in an unknown language, doing all of these as some form of worship probably.
Taking a few steps back and running immediately, reinforcing my legs to increase speed and jumping power.
Jumping powerful enough to cause a crater to form on the rooftop, with one giant leap I was getting closer to the base–reaching out with my arms I grabbed the ledge of the base and pulled myself up. The monsters all had noticed me and they began to shout and some of them entered the base.
Going inside the base I was met with the sight of several of those things chasing me with spears and wooden swords. After swiftly killing all of them I went to the cabin.
Climbing up the ladder, I heard sounds of something coming up too but thanks to the ladder's pitch blackness I wasn't able to see what it was. Now in the pilot area, the thing that was claiming was one of those tiki face monsters–a second later it died.
I pressed the button and pulled the levers, once again the ship shook like an earthquake, holding the panel I didn't fall, but the monster probably did so it bought me some time. Began to steer the base; hearing the sounds of something being crushed and the huts getting destroyed. A tiny bit of me felt bad.
Kept driving through the village destroying both monsters and huts in my way.
[CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE LEVELED UP TO THIRTY-EIGHT!]
[+3 Points]
Something sharp stabs me in the back! It was those small monsters holding their weapons, seeing as how they failed to kill me they began to run away. I have to finish them off now before they regroup.
A sword getting unsheathed.
Bursting through my arm in the first one, then quickly killing them one by one. After finishing off the last monster I took a look at my work; a flash of guilt rang throughout me–perhaps I had been too brutal.
Now it's time to focus on getting out of here. Just steered the base in a straight line because I didn't know what direction is what II was hoping to eventually escape this village.
A while later I could see in the distance the endless sand instead of the huts.
_____________________________
The mission was almost done. Looking at the screen I'm close to the goal. It's been a day and a half since escaping from that village. Now it was almost nighttime, the sky having a beautiful orange hue to it.
For hours I've been driving the base, and even though I've only been standing and steering it was getting tedious and tiring. The thought of taking a break.
But taking a break could mean those tribal monsters catching up to me–ugh it's boring here, the once beautiful scenery of the dunes had lost its awe factor for me, aside from the occasional giant dune it really wasn't anything special.
[LET ME GUESS, THY BOREDOM KILLING THOU?]
"You can say that again."
[WHY DON'T THY TAKE A BREAK?]
"Wait, you want me to take a break?" There has to be some lesson I have to learn during this break. There is no way the system won't use this as some sort of training.
[SO THY CAN PRACTICE THE NEW SKILL]
Knew it, but it was pretty tiring to keep steering so might as well.
Sitting down cross-legged and activating the Void Style skill, the purple mist envelops my hand. It was so strange now that I wasn't getting hunted down, the feeling or rather lack thereof. Unlike Critical Strike where I felt powerful using it; as if everything was possible, with Void Style there wasn't any sort of sensation or feeling, just nothing.
If it weren't for the fact purple mist covered my hand it would've felt like nothing had happened. But it was more than nothing, Void Style could be more powerful than Critical Strike.
Thanks to the information from receiving the skill, it can be molded and more importantly its other abilities.
This thing can bypass all physical defense of an organic being; directly hitting the target's soul. The second ability it's like a black hole. It has a gravitational force that can either pull or push anything; the more Mana is used the stronger the force is. All of these abilities sound so freaking cool! But I have to do some tests to see how they function.
The first test was to create a sphere, focusing my Mana, Picturing a circle in my mind then consecrate into making it a reality, feeling the Mana washing over me and going towards my hand.
The purple mist began to appear, circling my hand and slowly condensing. It became more colorful and less transparent. The mist started to take shape until it was no longer what it once was. It solidified into a sphere–I turned it off quickly.
Damn, that took a lot of Mana, way more than expected; all of my energy drained–it was so tiring like I had run an entire marathon. Leaning against the wall taking a deep breath. It's crazy how, in, in all my time in the new world not once being out of Mana was a problem, but just creating a void sphere is what did me in. For now, this could be a problem–wait a second! I'm pretty sure some points weren't spent yet.
Opening up the Inventory screen there were six points, spending all my points on Mana. Thinking about it I've been neglecting Mana this entire time. Now that Mana is at twenty-six it's now possible to use Void Style.
Activating Void Style again, concentrating on making the mist-like substance into a solid sphere, the mist solidified into the energy it formed into that spherical shape. A few seconds later it was still there but the sensation of my Mana draining away was too much to bear, persisted through. Sweat covered my face, my arm quacking under that immense pressure. Though just a minute passed by for me it felt like an eternity keeping the void construct stable—I broke, dispelled it, and fell to the ground catching my breath. I need to focus on leveling up Mana.
[THOU'S TRAINING SHOULD SUFFICE, THIS EXPERIENCE SHOULD BE ENLIGHTENING AND USEFUL, NO?]
"Improving Mana."
I'm so tired. Maybe I underestimated how much Mana it took. Looking at the screen to see how close the goal is, maybe it's time to rest quickly. Before that though, I did a couple of exercises and stretches.
[THE BASE IS BEING ATTACKED!]
These guys won't leave me alone, won't they? Gotta admire that persistence of theirs. Standing up and getting to the balcony that'll give me a good advantage. As I walked to the balcony several arrows were fired at me but I dodged all in time. "What the?-"
Hook clung to the side of the ship. Coming up were more of those tiki-faced monsters. One of them pointed at me and then said some incomprehensible language to his fellow soldier. All of them seemingly grinned in excitement and shouted at me. All of them ran to me.
A sword getting unsheathed.
Activating Critical Strike I easily easily kill the first one, punching them in the face. Then grabbing one of them and throwing it to the others, moments later all of them were eliminated.
More of those things began to climb the base. Running up to them, I pushed them off the ledge. Down there, I saw a whole army of these things. It looked like there were more of them coming, each one riding horses. So that's how they caught up so fast.
Destroying the hooks and running back to the cabinet–I'm, sure I don't have enough stamina to face them all. Climbing up back to back up there, I found things, one of them. One was broken and a hook was attached to it.
Despite Mana being so low, there was still enough for me to try something. Using Void Style to create a sphere in my hand–the sheer pressure of using it engulfed me, shit! It was hard to concentrate properly, my body was on the brink of exhaustion yet the thought of giving up was pushed aside. Pouring Mana into a sphere it happened. The room's dust began to circle my hand like a tornado, not enough need more–pouring more Mana pieces of the shattered window flew to me circling my hand. Pushing harder, pouring more Mana into all those monsters that flew right towards me. It was a success!
Letting go of Void Style, my other arm was engulfed in the flames of Critical Strike. Killing all of them in a quick succession. Now that they're gone I need to pilot the base. Running to the steering wheel and driving off.
Because of being up so high it was easy to spot some of those tiki monsters climbing up the shape–a sight greeted me that made my heart stop. It was a monster I had fought, the Void Hunter, or more accurately Void Hunters there were three of them, each one had a different mask from the other but overall were the same. Oh crap
Then seemingly out of nowhere, a light shines in this hopeless situation. In the distance closer and closer was a giant green see-through Pillar that shot through the clouds like a sword. The area of the massive green pillar was wide enough for the base to fit through. Around the area were ruins of a great building, parts of a once great structure torn down. I Guess That's where the base should have landed. Looking at the three Void Hunters they seem to be looking for me, so they don't know I'm here huh? I got an idea.
Jumping through the cabinet window–not before reinforcing my body with Mana, With the loud shatter of the glass all three of them looked up but it was too late. Lighting my arm with the flames of Critical Strike.
[10x Strength]
Landing on one of them. Punched through its head it stopped moving–in an instant one of those monsters was choked holding me and then slammed me to the ground, its hands covered in the purple mist of Void Style. Using Critical Strike to boost my strength snapped the monster armed, hearing a disgusting crunch but it wasn't the end putting a large amount of Mana in my leg and then kicking it in the leg too. The beast shouted in pain before throwing me to a wall, bursting through the wall with clouds of dust covering everywhere, coughing up some dust an arm emerged punching me in the jaw–I felt an explosion of pain surging through me. Landing on a couple of pieces of furniture on my back, shit it hurts! Looking up to see it was the third tiki monster, it looked like it activated Void Style. Both me and it rushed towards each other trading blows–but not exactly every time I hit it the monster had hit me four times already. Blood flew out of my nose as it delivered a nasty punch. This thing was like the wind dodging with ease, and its body was not visible anymore, now just a blur leaving behind trails, also because of its speed it had kicked up the dust in the room making it hard to see anything. So I was fighting it almost blind, There was a shadow in the cloud!
Punching it caused the dust to part ways revealing nothing, as punishment it struck behind me, I staggered from the blow, and my entire body was screaming in pain, tears streaming down my face as the pain was growing. "I . . . Have to fight!
[REMEMBER!]
Right, remember Jackson!
Pouring Mana into the brain and further reinforcing my body with it, What was once a blurry figure now saw the monster, it threw a punch at me and dodged it in time. I activated Critical Strike at both hands and threw a flurry of strikes at its head, a large amount of blood flew out of the mask as I kept pushing, then grabbed a table using it as a bat smashing the table against the monster over and over again; very quickly the table broke so pouring large amount of Mana into my arm with Critical Strike furthering increasing my strength punched this thing in the gut. Pulling out my blood-soaked arm the monster fell. Sliding down a wall next to me using this time to catch my breath. "Thankfully it's over . . . "
[THY HAD MADE A GREAT MISTAKE]
"What is it?"
[ANOTHER ONE LIVES]
"Right, that monster." Better finish that off quickly–!
I felt my Mana was almost gone now, thus far because of the battles I hadn't noticed just how small it was, the feeling was like something inside of me was lost, like I was utterly hopeless. The amount of it was so small that even reinforcing a body part would leave me with zero Mana, That conversation with Lucian rang in my mind; if I ran out of Mana I'd die. This will be a problem.
Amidst the cloud of dust, the silhouette was the last monster limping its way through the room, crawling over behind a cabinet and hiding there for a bit. Peeking around the corner the monster was limping. Its leg was mangled, blood spewing everywhere and bones protruding out like branches of an old tree.
How in the world am I gonna beat this thing with no Mana? Wait a second! Opening my Main Inventory, scrolling down to the Shop section, and buying a health potion. "I honestly forgot one of these."
I Drank the potion, and instantly, all the pain was gone and my injuries healed. It was an amazing feeling to be rejuvenated again. Also, I expected the liquid to taste weird but like regular ol' water.
Now back to a hundred percent, it'll be much easier to fight it. Turning a corner the tiki-masked monster threw a punch at me, dodging the blow and grabbing his arm. Putting Mana in my knee then striking him in the gut hard enough something made a cracking noise. Blood began to seep out of the tiki mask as the monster staggered back using this opportunity I leaped forward striking it down with a Critical Strike.
It landed on the floor. Seeing it die made me sigh in relief. "I'm almost done now."
Noises of something hitting the base rang through the area. Going outside, more hooks were attached at the side with those other tiki monsters climbing up–some even already made it here. In a flash, I had eliminated them and destroyed the hooks.
While running back to the cabin all around me were hooks attaching themselves to the ship's side. Eventually, I was in the cabin driving the base, damn this thing is too slow I could see that those tiki-faced monsters had now climbed up.
"Hey System, is there any way to speed things up!"
[NO]
The base was nearer to the giant Pillar, maybe twenty meters from it. On the deck loads of those tiki-face monsters were now on board–there were even Void Hunters in the horde. All of them were seemingly looking for me.
One of them looks up making straight eye contact with me. Crap.
Suddenly, it shouted in its alien language to further drive home it pointed its spear at me, and all of them looked straight at me and began to run inside, even some of them just started to climb up the tower.
Looking down at the ladder there were those monsters already climbing up, when one of them was nearly at the top I stomped on its face with a reinforced leg.
"Hurry please!" I said as the base was nearly in the Green zone just a few meters away. The Glass broke and several of those monsters came flooding in. Shit!
Using Critical Strike, launch at the nearest one killing it by straight punching it through the gut after that dispatch the rest of them. More were starting to go through the ladder so I quickly eliminated them.
I had an idea to go to one of the two rooms, seeing that it was a bedroom made me thank lady luck; reinforcing my entire body to grab two cabinets with both arms easily to grab two cabinets with both arms easily and rush to the ladder and throw the cabinets down there. Hopefully, that'll block them long enough.
Going back to driving, in the corner of my eyes the windows were broken by hooks slamming into them soon after the monster began to climb. I could hear more of the monsters climbing the ladder trying to break down the cabinets. Despite all of these I ignored them–only focusing on driving. It was almost there!
Soon the monsters climbing through the windows rushed towards me with their weapons–momentarily letting go of the steering to fight off the beast. Striking the first monster with Critical Strike, but doing so one of them was able to stab behind me; the spear wasn't able to pierce through anything it did feel it though.
It hurts a lot to feel the sharp tip piercing the flesh, tearing out the skin on its way. Punching that monster with Critical Strike another one used this opportunity to stab me again.
Another stabbed my breast.
Another stabbed my arm.
Another stabbed my gut.
All of it hurts so much despite receiving no wound; it was being burned alive by invincible flames. It was nearly impossible to stop it now every monster killed another five and replaced it with more coming. My vision was nothing but these things piling on top of me, probably the entire room was filled with them.
Even if their weapons couldn't stop me, the ever-growing pile of them would surely finish the job–I wasn't standing up anymore just lying on the ground getting crushed by the horde of these black creatures. Being completely immobilized by it. There wasn't anything I could do . . . The pressure of getting crushed was too much, the agony too much to think of anything. Is this the end? . . . No I won't allow it!
I activated Void Style creating a sphere around my arm, putting all of my Mana–not just a large amount of Mana but every single Mana available leaving me on the verge of dying–I pushed all of them.
It was like a giant invisible explosion occurred, in an instant the enormous pile of monsters was gone regaining my sight. A large amount of them were pushed back through the windows so it rained shards of glass.
I returned to the steering and began to drive. Now, it was all or nothing, as all of my Mana was gone.
The monsters were starting to recuperate but they didn't grab any attention, all of it was concentrated on just driving.
The monster once more rushed at me with their weapons readied but I smiled it was too late.
The base was in the green giant Pillar of Light–then it stopped, and everything came to a screeching halt like time had been frozen. The ship wasn't going forward anymore and the monster stopped dead in their tracks. Looking at the scene was incredibly eerie and weird seeing them stop mid-motion.
"Finally it's over."
[!CONGRATULATIONS!]
A screen appeared before me as I slumped down, taking a deep breath,. Finally, it was over–definitely after this, I'll go to bed. "I did it!" I pumped my arm up in the air.
Pressing the reward button and hearing the all too satisfying sounds of pinging.
[PLAYER HAS RECEIVED THE SKILL 'LIGHTNING STYLE ']
[CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE LEVELED UP TO FORTY-EIGHT]
[+30 points]
I can't wait to try it out! Today's mission was a success. With two new skills, I am now at level Forty-Eight. But for now, the best thing was to sleep.
Cracks of reality started to appear before the dungeon was destroyed leaving me in the same balcony where I'd first entered the dungeon. Just smelling the fresh and cool air here was a huge contrast to the hot and dry air of the desert. "I'm finally back home," I said.
Walking back to my dorm room I promptly fell asleep.
