Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Modern World

Liang Zheng's eyes snapped open, adjusting slowly to the bright lights. Disorientation overwhelmed him. He lay in a hospital bed, surrounded by unfamiliar machines beeping and whirring. His gaze fell upon his hands – smaller, softer, and unfamiliar.

"Where...where am I?" Liang Zheng stammered, panic rising.

A nurse rushed in, beaming. "Welcome back, Kim Liang! You've been in a coma for three weeks."

Liang Zheng's mind reeled. "Kim Liang? No, I'm Liang Zheng. What sorcery is this?"

The nurse's expression turned concerned. "You're Kim Liang, son of Chairman Kim. You were in an accident on your birthday."

Liang Zheng's memories were of ancient Qing City, Jian Yu, and Queen Mei. This new reality baffled him.

"Jian Yu...Queen Mei...are they safe?" Liang Zheng asked, desperation creeping in.

The nurse's confusion deepened. "I don't know who you're talking about, Kim Liang. You've been here, in Seoul, all along."

Liang Zheng's grip on reality faltered. Memories of Kim Liang's life began to surface – a life of luxury, influence, and bullying. Liang Zheng recoiled, horrified.

"How do I return to my own body?" Liang Zheng pleaded.

The nurse's expression softened. "You're experiencing confusion, Kim Liang. Rest and recovery will help."

Liang Zheng's determination hardened. "I must find Jian Yu and Queen Mei."

As the nurse tended to him, Liang Zheng vowed to uncover the truth behind his transmigration and find a way back to his loved ones.

Liang Zheng's consciousness recoiled as he relived Kim Liang's cruel memories. He saw Kim Liang's luxurious life, where wealth and influence corrupted his morals.

Kim Liang bullied relentlessly, targeting those weaker than him. Jian Yu, gentle and kind, was Kim Liang's favorite victim.

"Scholarship trash," Kim Liang sneered. "You'll never be worthy of our status."

Jian Yu's eyes pleaded for mercy, but Kim Liang's heart remained stone-cold.

Liang Zheng felt Jian Yu's pain, his desperation, and his shattered soul.

"No, Jian Yu! Don't give up!" Liang Zheng whispered, overcome.

But Kim Liang's final blow sent Jian Yu crashing to the ground, unconscious.

Jin Yu, sensing his twin's distress, searched frantically. He found Jian Yu, battered and bruised, in a hospital bed.

"Brother, no! Wake up!" Jin Yu sobbed.

Liang Zheng's own memories resurfaced: his love for Jian Yu in his past life, Queen Mei's kindness, and his honor as a warrior.

"Jian Yu, I failed you once," Liang Zheng vowed. "But I'll protect you now.

Liang Zheng's gaze drifted out the window, and his world shattered. Seoul's neon landscape stretched before him, a cacophony of lights and steel giants. His mind, still anchored in 1745 Qing City, reeled.

"How...how can this be?" Liang Zheng whispered, stumbling backward.

His legs buckled, and he collapsed to the floor. The nurse and doctor rushed to his side, shocked.

"Kim Liang, no! Not again!" the nurse exclaimed.

"Call his aunt, now!" the doctor ordered.

Aunt Min-Hye arrived, frantic. "Liang, oh my god! What happened?"

The doctor explained, "He's experiencing severe shock. His mind can't cope with some changes."

Aunt Min-Hye's eyes welled up with tears. "My poor nephew. His father's away on business. I have to take care of him."

As they tended to Liang Zheng, he struggled to grasp the reality:

1745 Qing City → 2023 Seoul

How did he traverse centuries? What sorcery was this?

Liang Zheng's thoughts swirled:

Jian Yu, Queen Mei, where are they?

Is this a dream, a curse, or a blessing?

Can he find a way back to his own time?

The medical team stabilized Liang Zheng, but his mind remained adrift.

Aunt Min-Hye held his hand. "Liang, you're safe now. We'll get through this together."

Liang Zheng's gaze locked onto hers, pleading.

"Tell me...where am I? What year is this?"

Aunt Min-Hye's expression softened. "You're in Seoul, South Korea, Liang. It's 2023."

Liang Zheng's world went dark once more.

Liang Zheng's eyes fluttered open, greeting the sterile hospital room. Aunt Min-Hye smiled beside him.

"Liang, you're awake! The doctor will discharge you soon."

Liang Zheng struggled to sit up, but a wave of dizziness washed over him.

"Slow down, Liang," Aunt Min-Hye cautioned. "You've been through a lot."

Dr. Lee entered, clipboard in hand. "Mr. Kim, you're making excellent progress. We'll discharge you today, but please continue therapy sessions."

Liang Zheng nodded, still disoriented. "Where...where am I?"

Aunt Min-Hye gently reminded him, "You're in Seoul, Liang. In the hospital."

As the medical team prepared his discharge, His Aunty bring out clothes

As Liang Zheng dressed in modern clothes, he felt like a stranger in a strange land.

Secretary Choi, Chairman Kim's assistant, appeared, her expression stern. "Mr. Kim, your father requests your presence at the company headquarters upon discharge."

Liang Zheng's instincts screamed warning. "What does he want?"

Secretary Choi's smile was cold. "Business discussions, Mr. Kim. Nothing to concern yourself with."

Liang Zheng sensed darkness lurking beneath the surface, as left the hospital, stepping into the unknown.

"Seoul, 2023," Liang Zheng whispered, determination burning within. "I'll navigate this modern world, uncover the truth, and make amends for Kim Liang's wrongdoings."

Liang Zheng navigated Seoul's bustling streets, pretending to be Kim Liang. He struggled to reconcile his ancient values with modern society.

At Chairman Kim's headquarters, Liang Zheng met his father's expectations, playing the role of the obedient son.

"Father, I'm ready to take on my responsibilities," Liang Zheng said, mimicking Kim Liang's arrogance.

Chairman Kim smiled, satisfied. "Excellent, Liang. You'll learn the business and succeed me."

Liang Zheng's instincts rebelled, but he maintained the facade.

***************

Jian Yu's eyes fluttered open, confusion etched on his face. He lay in a hospital bed, surrounded by unfamiliar machines beeping and whirring.

"Where...where am I?" Jian Yu stammered.

Memories flooded back: Qing City, 1745; Liang Zheng's love; Queen Mei's kindness.

"No, this can't be!" Jian Yu's voice trembled.

He remembered his desperate attempt to escape Kim Liang's bullying, the overwhelming pain, and the darkness.

Jian Yu's gaze fell upon his hands – smaller, softer, and unfamiliar.

"This isn't my body!" he exclaimed.

A nurse rushed in. "Welcome back, Jian Yu! You've been unconscious for six months."

Jian Yu's mind reeled. "Six months? What year is this?"

The nurse replied, "It's 2023."

Jian Yu's world shattered. "Transmigrated...I've been transmigrated."

Tears streamed down his face as he grasped the reality.

Just then, his mother rushed in, tears of joy in her eyes.

"Jian Yu! My son! You're awake!"

Jin Yu, his twin brother, followed, relief written across his face.

"Hyung!" Jin Yu exclaimed.

Jian Yu's emotions swirled: grief, confusion, and gratitude.

"Mum...Jin Yu...I'm back," Jian Yu whispered.

His mother hugged him tightly. "We thought we lost you."

Jin Yu's eyes narrowed. "What happened, hyung? You've been gone for so long."

Jian Yu struggled to articulate his experience.

"I...I was in a different time...1745...I knew Liang Zheng...and Queen Mei."

Jin Yu's expression turned skeptical. "What are you talking about, hyung?"

Jian Yu realized his story sounded absurd.

"I'll explain later, Jin Yu. Just know I'm back." And he closed his eyes.

Jian Yu's eyes adjusted to the bright hospital lights. Six months of darkness, and now, a new reality.

"Mum...Jin Yu..." he whispered, his voice barely audible.

His mother rushed to his side, tears streaming down her face. "Jian Yu! My son! You're awake!"

Jin Yu's relief was palpable. "Hyung, welcome back once again!"

Jian Yu's gaze drifted to his hands – foreign, yet familiar. Memories of Qing City, 1745, flooded back.

"No...this can't be," he muttered.

The nurse explained, "You've been unconscious for six months, Jian Yu. You're lucky to be alive."

Jian Yu's mind reeled. Transmigrated. He vowed to avenge the real Jian Yu's suffering.

As he settled into his new life, Jian Yu played the role of a recovering patient. But secretly, he gathered information:

"Jin Yu, what happened while I was...away?" Jian Yu asked, probing.

Jin Yu hesitated. "Hyung, you don't remember?"

Jian Yu shook his head.

"Well, you tried to...end your life. And Kim Liang's family has been acting strange," Jin Yu said, his voice laced with concern.

Jian Yu's anger simmered. Kim Liang. The bully who drove the real Jian Yu to despair.

"I'll take care of it, Jin Yu," Jian Yu said, his tone even.
