Tuesday, May 17th
The shrill sound of the alarm jolted me awake, slicing through the stillness of the early morning. I groaned, wishing for just a few more minutes of sleep. It had been a long time since I had to wake up this early, and the thought of it made me resentful. But today was different; it was the second day at the academy, and I couldn't afford to be sluggish.
With a reluctant sigh, I swung my legs over the side of the bed, the chill of the morning air biting at my skin. Rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I forced myself to shake off the remnants of dreams that felt tantalizingly close yet just out of reach.
I fumbled in the dim light to silence the relentless beeping, wishing for just a few more moments of blissful oblivion.
