Chapter 23 - CHAOS IN THE CAFETERIA

As Eryndor walked through the bustling halls of the Eridorian Academy of Magic, his mind was filled with a mix of emotions.

The weight of his new quest to ascend to academic eminence rested heavily on his shoulders, while the haunting memories of the little boy's tragic life lingered in the back of his mind.

He glanced down at his pendant, the glowing map showing the way to the cafeteria. It was already 6 pm, and his stomach growled audibly, reminding him of his neglected hunger.

With a determined stride, he followed the path, his curiosity growing with each step.

The cafeteria bustled with life as Eryndor entered. The air was thick with the aroma of delicious dishes, and the sound of lively conversations filled the spacious hall.

Students gathered around long tables, their laughter and animated discussions creating a vibrant atmosphere.

'I don't see any second year here, I guess they are in a different area of the academy' Eryndor thought.

Eryndor's eyes scanned the room, taking in the sights and sounds. The cafeteria was a true testament to the academy's diversity, with an array of culinary delights on display.

He spotted a buffet counter laden with mouth-watering delicacies, from savory meats and vegetables to an assortment of freshly baked breads and pastries.

His stomach rumbled again, urging him to make a quick decision. Eryndor chose a spot near the window, where he could enjoy the evening sunlight while indulging in his meal. He approached the buffet, his eyes widening at the sheer variety of options.

Eryndor carefully selected a plate, filling it with a generous portion of roasted chicken, a side of steamed vegetables, and a fluffy roll.

He added a touch of salt and pepper, inhaling the aromatic spices. His mouth watered in anticipation as he carried his plate to the table.

As he sat down, Eryndor couldn't help but notice the lively conversation of the students surrounding him. A group of his peers were engaged in a heated debate, their voices rising with passion. They argued about the latest magical theories and the upcoming exam, their enthusiasm infectious.

Eryndor's curiosity got the better of him, and he leaned in to listen, his meal momentarily forgotten. The students discussed advanced magic spells and the challenges of mastering the arcane arts. Their dedication and passion were inspiring, and Eryndor felt a surge of motivation to join their ranks.

He took a bite of his chicken, savoring the juicy meat and the crispness of the vegetables. The flavors danced on his palate, and he closed his eyes in contentment. But as he chewed, a loud crash from the nearby table startled him.

Eryndor looked up to see a group of students engaged in a heated argument. Their voices escalated, and before he knew it, they were pushing and shoving each other. In the chaos, Eryndor found himself entangled in the scuffle, his plate falling to the ground and shattering.

"What's going on here?" Eryndor exclaimed, trying to extricate himself from the mess. He had accidentally stepped on someone's foot, and now he was caught in the middle of a full-blown fight.

"Get off me, you clumsy oaf!" one of the students shouted, their faces contorted with anger.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to—" Eryndor began, but his apologies were cut short as another student shoved him, sending him stumbling backward.

Realizing the futility of his situation, Eryndor decided to make a quick escape. He dashed through the crowd, his heart pounding excitement.

He wanted to join to but, he knew he had to get out of there before things escalated further and academy staffs comes.

As Eryndor made his way towards the exit, the students continued to argue and fight, their voices growing louder and more heated by the minute. The air was electric with tension, and the smell of ozone hung heavy over the room.

Suddenly, a small spark of magic flew across the room, striking a nearby table and sending plates and utensils flying. The students gasped in shock, and the argument escalated into a full-blown fight.

" Take that, you arrogant fool!" a student shouted, casting a spell that sent a blast of fire hurtling towards his opponent" The opponent, a tall and lanky student with a messy mop of hair, retaliated with a spell of his own, summoning a wave of water to extinguish the flames.

But the water spell was too powerful, and it sent the fire flying back towards the first student, who barely dodged out of the way in time.

The magic attacks continued to fly back and forth, each one more powerful and destructive than the last. The students were completely out of control, their magic surging out of their bodies like wild animals.

"Stop this!" a student shouted, trying to intervene. "You're going to destroy the cafeteria!"

But her words fell on deaf ears. The students were too caught up in their own anger and fear to listen to reason.

In the midst of the chaos, a student who couldn't control his magic power lost his grip on a particularly powerful spell. The magic surged out of control, building up to a massive blast that threatened to destroy the cafeteria.

The student, his eyes wild with fear, tried to aim the spell at the outside wall of the cafeteria, hoping to release the energy harmlessly into the night air. But Eryndor, still trying to make his way out of the room, was caught in the path of the blast.

"Oh no, Hey ! move aside!! " a student cried, trying to warn Eryndor.

But it was too late. The magic blast was too powerful, and it was going to hit Eryndor with incredible force.

The magic hurtled towards him, a blazing ball of energy that seemed to grow larger with every passing moment.

As the student's magic hurtled towards him, Eryndor raised his hand, and a shimmering shield of light erupted from his palm.

The shield glowed with a soft, blue light, and it seemed to pulse with a gentle, magical energy.

The incoming magic attack hit the shield with incredible force, but Eryndor's magic held strong. The shield glowed brighter, absorbing the energy of the attack, and then it slowly dissipated, leaving Eryndor standing unscathed.

The cafeteria fell silent, the students staring at Eryndor in shock and amazement. Not a single hair on his head was out of place, and his clothes were untouched by the magic. It was as if the attack had never happened.

The student who had lost control of his magic stumbled backward, his eyes wide with fear. "I-I'm sorry," he stuttered. "I didn't mean to..."

Eryndor shook his head, his expression calm. "It's okay".

The tall, imposing man with the dark hair approached Eryndor, a look of surprise on his face. "Well, well, well".
