Chapter 6 - AN UNEXPECTED ALLY?

11th May

I gripped my sword tightly, my heart racing with anticipation. The rustling in the underbrush grew louder, and I could sense that whatever was making the noise was getting closer. I prepared myself for another fight, my wounds forgotten in the face of this new threat.

But as the branches parted, I was surprised to see a figure emerge from the shadows. It was a young girl, no more than 15 years old, dressed in leather armor and carrying a longbow and quiver of arrows. She had silver hair and her eyes sparkled with a fierce intensity.

She took in my battered appearance, her gaze flicking from my wounded arm to my bandaged leg. For a moment, we just stared at each other, sizing each other up.

Then, to my surprise, she smiled. "Well, you're certainly in a mess," she said, her voice husky and confident. "What happened to you?"

I hesitated, unsure of how much to reveal. But there was something about this girl that put me at ease. Maybe it was the way she carried herself, with a quiet confidence that belied her youth.

As I stood there, trying to decide what to say, I suddenly remembered that I had a healing touch skill. I had completely forgotten about it in the heat of battle. I could have used it to heal my wounds, but it had slipped my mind.

She noticed my hesitation and asked, "Need help?"

I smiled, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Thanks, but I can heal myself," I said, remembering my skill.

The girl raised an eyebrow, looking at me with curiosity. "You can heal yourself?"

I shrugged, feeling a sense of pride in my abilities. "Yeah," I said, touching my wounded parts and focusing my mind. "Healing touch."

As I spoke the words, my body began to emit a soft, green light. The girl's eyes widened in amazement as she watched my wounds begin to close, the pain and fatigue melting away.

After a few seconds, I was completely healed. The girl's eyes never left mine, her gaze filled with a mixture of wonder and curiosity.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

I shrugged, feeling a sense of gratitude towards this stranger. "I was looking for some materials and suddenly got attacked by a pack of wolves," I replied, trying to keep my story brief.

When she heard the word "wolves," her eyes sparkled with excitement. "Wolves? Where?!"

I hesitated, unsure if I should reveal the location of the wolves. But there was something about her intensity that made me trust her. Maybe it was her confidence that put me at ease.

"They were near the road, about a mile east of here," I said, watching her reaction.

Her eyes lit up with excitement, and she nodded eagerly. "I've been tracking those wolves for days. They've been attacking travelers on the road, and I've been trying to hunt them down."

I raised an eyebrow, impressed by her determination. "You seem quite skilled," I said, trying to sound casual.

She smiled, a fierce glint in her eye. "I'm on a mission to kill those wolves. They're a menace to travelers"

" you sure are confident" i said with some doubt .

" Well its my assignment from the academy" she said with some annoyance

"I'm Eryndor Thorne, i am also a student from the academy" realizing that she is from the academy i tried to be polite .

Not many people can attend the academy , academy fees are too high for normal households , to attend they must from the merchant family or noble or someone like me who is funded by the orphanage

"My name is Elara Ravenwood," she replied, her eyes sparkling with interest.

" ravenwood? ravenhood?' i suddenly remember writing a character with that name'

' she is one of the female characters i planned to write, though i didn't planned to make a romance novel, there were still some girls characters i had written'

" But i don't remember much about her background, is she a noble , fuck i should have write a proper outline before sitting in front of the damn computer'

" wanna team up"? i said looking at her in the eyes

she didn't repiled

i continued " i know the location od the wolves and... i can use healing magic too"

Elara's eyes sparkled with interest as I mentioned my healing magic. "That's a rare skill," she said, her voice filled with a hint of curiosity. "I've only met a few people who can use healing magic."

I smiled. "Yeah, I'm one of the lucky ones," I said, trying to sound casual.

Elara nodded, her eyes never leaving mine. "I think we could make a good team," she said, her voice filled with a sense of determination. "With your healing magic and my archery skills, we could take down those wolves in no time."

I raised an eyebrow, impressed by her confidence. "You're pretty sure of yourself, aren't you?" I said, trying to sound teasing.

Elara smiled, a fierce glint in her eye. "I'm just confident in my abilities,"

I nodded.

As we stood there, sizing each other up, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement.

"So, what's the plan?" I asked, looking at Elara with a sense of anticipation.

Elara grinned, a mischievous glint in her eye " First we find them and i will tell you the rest later " she said, her voice filled with a sense of determination.

As we set off towards the road, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. I had a feeling that this was just the beginning of a great adventure, and I was glad to have Elara by my side.

"Hey, Elara," I said, looking at her with a sense of curiosity. "What's your family like? You're a noble, right?"

Elara's expression changed, and for a moment, I saw a flash of sadness in her eyes. "I'm not a noble," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm just a student at the academy."

I raised an eyebrow, feeling a sense of surprise. "But your name... Ravenwood," I said, trying to sound casual. "It sounds like a noble name."

Elara smiled, a wry smile. "It's a long story," she said. "Let's just say that my family has a complicated history."

I nodded, feeling a sense of understanding. "I see," I said, trying to sound sympathetic.

As we walked, I couldn't help but feel a sense of curiosity about Elara's past. But I knew that I had to be patient, and let her reveal her secrets in her own time.
