The students gathered outside, their eyes gleaming with excitement and anticipation. The air was electric with tension as they prepared to face off against each other in a battle of magical prowess.
The instructor stood at the center of the gathering, a stern expression on his face. "Remember, students, the goal of this exercise is to practice your mana control and combat skills, you will be paired up with a partner "
The students nodded, their faces set in determined expressions. They knew that this was a crucial part of their magical education, and they were eager to prove themselves.
As the students began to pair up, I found myself standing across from Kaiden. We exchanged a nod of acknowledgement, and I could sense a hint of competitiveness in the air.
"Let's see who is stronger" Kaiden said, a smirk on his face.
" We will see" I also smiled , I wanted to test how strong i was against the protagonist.
The other students began to pair up, their eyes gleaming with excitement.
Instructor Thrain stood at the center of the gathering, a stern expression on his face. "Alright, let's begin," he said, his voice firm and commanding. "First up, we have Lyra and Astrid. Let's see what you two are capable of."
'Lyra'? I didn't knew she was here . But who is this Astrid girl I don't remember write about her.
Lyra and Astrid stepped forward, their eyes gleaming with excitement. They faced each other, their hands weaving intricate patterns in the air as they prepared to cast their spells.
"You're going down, Lyra," Astrid said, a confident smile on her face.
Lyra smiled, her eyes flashing with determination. "We'll see about that," she said, a mischievous glint in her eye.
The battle began, with Lyra and Astrid facing off against each other. Lyra cast a spell of fire, sending a blast of flames towards Astrid. But Astrid was quick, casting a spell of water that extinguished the flames and sent them harmlessly to the ground.
Astrid countered with a spell of ice, sending a shard of ice towards Lyra. But Lyra was ready, casting a spell of earth that summoned a wall of stone to block the ice shard. The wall of stone was sturdy, and it blocked the ice shard with ease.
Lyra and Astrid continued to exchange blows, their magic swirling around each other in a vortex of color and light. The air was filled with the sound of magic, as the students clashed in a spectacular display of magical prowess.
Astrid cast a spell of wind, sending a gust of air towards Lyra. But Lyra was quick, casting a spell of fire that ignited the air and sent it back towards Astrid. Astrid jumped back, avoiding the flames by mere inches.
Lyra took advantage of the opening, casting a spell of earth that summoned a wave of rocks towards Astrid. But Astrid was ready, casting a spell of ice that froze the rocks in mid-air. The rocks shattered into a thousand pieces, sending shards of ice flying in all directions.
Astrid countered with a spell of water, sending a wave of water towards Lyra. But Lyra was quick, casting a spell of fire that evaporated the water and sent it back towards Astrid as steam.
The battle raged on, with Lyra and Astrid exchanging blows and counterattacks. Their magic swirled around each other, creating a vortex of color and light that was both beautiful and deadly.
As the battle raged on, Lyra and Astrid began to tire. Their magic was weakening, and they were starting to struggle. But they refused to give up, their determination and willpower driving them forward.
The two students were evenly matched, each one landing blows and counterattacks with precision and skill. But as the battle wore on, Lyra began to gain the upper hand. She had been studying Astrid's movements, analyzing her strengths and weaknesses, and she knew exactly how to exploit them.
Astrid, on the other hand, was starting to tire. Her magic was weakening, and she was struggling to keep up with Lyra's rapid-fire attacks. She stumbled backward, her eyes wide with fear, as Lyra launched a series of swift and precise blows.
Lyra's magic was a blur of color and light, a whirlwind of energy that seemed to dance across the courtyard. She was a force to be reckoned with, a true master of her craft. And as she struck the final blow, Astrid stumbled backward, her magic broken.
The final blow that Lyra landed was a spell of fire that she had been saving for the perfect moment. She had been waiting for Astrid to let her guard down, and when she did, Lyra struck. The spell of fire was a powerful one, and it engulfed Astrid in a wave of flames.
Astrid tried to defend herself, but Lyra's spell was too strong. She stumbled backward, her magic broken, and Lyra took advantage of the opportunity to strike again. This time, she used a spell of earth, summoning a wall of stone to block Astrid's escape.
Astrid was trapped, and Lyra knew that she had won. She smiled, her eyes gleaming with triumph, as the students cheered and Instructor Thrain congratulated her on her victory.
"And the winner is... Lyra!" Instructor Thrain declared, his voice ringing out across the courtyard.
The students cheered, their voices echoing across the courtyard. Lyra smiled, her eyes gleaming with triumph. She had won the battle, and she knew that she had proven herself to be a formidable opponent.
Instructor Thrain stepped forward, a smile on his face. "Well done, Lyra," he said. "You have shown excellent skill and strategy in your battle. Your magic is strong, and you used it well."
Lyra bowed, her face flushed with pride. "Thank you, Instructor Thrain," .
Astrid approached Lyra, a smile on her face. "Good job, Lyra," she said. "You won fair and square. I didn't expect you to be so strong."
Lyra smiled, her eyes sparkling with amusement. "Thanks, Astrid," she said. "I've been practicing my magic a lot lately. I'm glad it paid off."
From this fight I determined that Lyra is at middle stage apprentice mage, same rank as mine and Astrid is at peak of Initial stage. One stage lower than Lyra but that was enough to beat her.
" Next!" Instructor called out the next students on the podium for battle.
The students continued to pair up, their battles raging on. But Lyra and Astrid had set the bar high, and the other students would have to would have to work very hard to reach their level.
