As I made my way through the vast halls of the Alfonzo mansion, my footsteps echoed softly off the polished marble floors.
My mind was racing, trying to decide how best to approach Bruno. I had to tell him about Sofia, about how she'd tried to intimidate me in the garden earlier.
Sofia had crossed a line, and I wasn't going to sit back and let her get away with it. I had to make Bruno see reason—make him understand that this family, despite its wealth and power, was suffocating me with their threats and manipulations.
As I rounded a corner, lost in thought, I suddenly collided with someone. I stumbled back, catching myself just in time to avoid falling, my heart skipping a beat in surprise.
"Watch where you're going, you clumsy fool!" A sharp voice rang out, and my stomach sank.
It was Mrs. Alfonzo.
I immediately lowered my eyes.
"I'm so sorry, Mrs. Alfonzo. I didn't see you there."
