The rift crackled violently behind them as the Justice League struggled to hold the line. Alexander stood at the forefront, his black armor battered and scorched, yet his presence was unwavering. Around him, a sea of grotesque monsters—orc-like beasts, twisted trolls, and towering giants—clawed at the heroes, their roars deafening under the sickly red sky. The oppressive heat of the red sun high above sapped Superman's strength, leaving him weaker with each passing moment. Even in this bleak realm, the Valorian warrior's abilities held strong, but the tide of battle was turning.
"Most of the Civilians are clear!" Batman barked through gritted teeth, his gauntlet sparking from a near-miss as he disabled a trap. "But we can't keep this up forever."
"Tell me something I don't know," Green Lantern grunted, his power ring flickering as he held back a surge of dark elves and gargoyles. Beside him, Wonder Woman slashed through the horde, her sword glinting as she carved a path through the monsters.
Alexander's Valorian traits were pushed to their limits, his mind working in overdrive, parallel thoughts racing through every scenario. His invulnerability, though formidable, was being tested against the Inferiors' nigh-immortal forms in this twisted realm. Super strength and super speed kept him moving, crushing monsters under his fists, but the dark magic that lingered in the air slowed even his best efforts.
Superman, struggling under the influence of the red sun, swung his fists with all the force he could muster, though each punch came slower than the last. Beside him, Aquaman and Hawkman fought savagely, their weapons drenched in the blood of the dark creatures that poured from every corner of the battlefield.
"We're getting overrun!" Cyborg shouted, his arm cannon firing off energy blasts, but even his advanced systems were overwhelmed by the sheer numbers of the enemy.
Alexander took to the skies, his heat vision searing a line through the advancing monsters. With his enhanced senses, he scanned the battlefield, counting every potential escape route, every possible avenue of retreat. His biokinesis surged through his veins, healing his minor wounds almost instantly, but even that could not stave off the horde forever.
In the distance, the Inferiors themselves finally stepped into view—three twisted figures, each more monstrous than the last, their eyes glowing a sickly orange as they watched the chaos unfold. Their laughter echoed across the battlefield, their voices laced with cruelty as they spoke.
"You think you can save them, Valorian?" one sneered, his voice reverberating through the air as they finally took a look at him in excitement and allure as if a child had found their long lost toy they shook in ecstasy and lechery that almost made Alexander's skin crawl "This is our world. Our sickly red sun weakens you and all so your precious allies. kekeke The rest of you are just... delaying the inevitable."
"They thrive here," Alexander muttered under his breath. His superintelligence processed the information rapidly—there was no winning in this realm. Not as long as the red sun blazed overhead, draining Superman and giving the Inferiors their near-immortality.
"We need to retreat," Martian Manhunter said, his telepathic voice calm despite the chaos. "They cannot be defeated in this dimension." Dr. Fate Added and Zatanna along with Constantine agreed while gritting their teeth
Alexander gritted his teeth, his eyes glowing as he unleashed another burst of heat vision, slicing through a group of shadow wraiths attempting to flank them. "We don't have time! More of them are coming!"
"They're blocking the rift!" Zatanna shouted, her voice strained as she cast a protective barrier around Dr. Fate, who was desperately maintaining the portal they had come through. The dark magic of the realm clawed at them, trying to close the way out.
"We can't keep this up much longer," Atom said, his voice shaky as he fought off a ghoul twice his size. "We're sitting ducks here."
Alexander looked at Batman who finally made a decision. "We're leaving. Now." with a nod He flew to the center of the battlefield, his gauntlet glowing as he prepared a final strike. "I'll hold them off. Get through the rift."
"You can't be serious!" Wonder Woman shouted as she sliced through another wave of monsters. "There are too many!"
Ignoring her, Alexander reached into his belt, pulling out a small, metallic device—a meta bomb, capable of unleashing a powerful shockwave that would temporarily disrupt the Inferiors and their minions.
"This bomb will buy you time. It's not enough to kill them, but it'll slow them down," Alexander said, his voice calm despite the mounting danger. "Get everyone through the rift."
"We're not leaving you behind," Superman said, struggling to his feet, his face pale from the sickly red sun's influence.
"You don't have a choice," Alexander replied, his tone firm. "I'll catch up. Now GO!."
Aquaman, his face grim beneath his cowl, nodded. "You heard him. Move!"
One by one, the League began to retreat toward the rift, fighting off the remaining monsters as they went. Alexander activated the meta bomb, tossing it into the heart of the enemy forces. The explosion was blinding, sending a shockwave rippling through the battlefield, throwing monsters back and disorienting the Inferiors.
The mocking laughter of the Inferiors grew louder as they recovered from the blast. "You delay the inevitable, Valorian," one of them hissed, their twisted faces leering at him. "We will hunt you. We will consume that world similar to what we did to yours, just as we have consumed so many others."
Alexander's eyes narrowed, his fists clenched as the last of the League made it through the rift. The monsters surged toward him, their claws outstretched, their voices echoing with taunts and jeers.
"You think this is over?" one Inferior snarled, stepping forward. "You think you've won anything?"
With a Sonic boom, Alexander shot through the air, heading toward the rift just as the final waves of monsters closed in. He could hear their laughter, the cruel echoes of their taunts lingering in his mind as he crossed the threshold.
As soon as Alexander passed through, Dr. Fate closed the rift with a burst of golden light, sealing the way behind them. The heroes collapsed on the ground, their bodies battered and bruised, the weight of the battle settling over them.
"We... made it," Green Lantern panted, his ring dim as he lay on the ground.
Superman struggled to his feet, his strength slowly returning as he absorbed the rays of Earth's yellow sun. "But they're still out there. They'll be back."
Alexander stood silently for a moment, his face hard. "They'll come," he said, his voice low and dangerous But Batman with his scowl and ever so broad self looked at the others "But we'll be ready."
In the distance, the echoes of the Inferiors' laughter still lingered, haunting the heroes as they prepared for what was yet to come.
