Vince's gaze hardened as he read the update. "Security Council of… what? Why is the system censoring this?" His fists clenched. "And they're sending squads after me now? It's like the entire world is converging on my head."
He closed the system interface, pacing the room as thoughts collided in his mind. "Threats from all sides. My family is exposed. And now this mysterious council wants to make a move?"
His eyes gleamed with resolve. "Let them come. They'll regret underestimating Vincenzo Barone."
The Shadow in the Mall
Far from the tense atmosphere of Vince's home, Rosa and Sofia Barone strolled through the brightly lit aisles of a sprawling shopping mall. The mother-daughter duo laughed softly, enjoying their time together. Bags filled with clothes and trinkets dangled from their arms.
Unbeknownst to them, in the shadows of the mall, a group of figures watched closely. The leader of the group spoke into a walkie-talkie.
"We've located the targets. They're exiting the premises now."
The voice on the other end crackled back. "Understood. Do not engage until further notice. Maintain visual contact."
Meanwhile, in a secluded parking area near Vince's house, a second group of similarly dressed operatives observed his residence.
"The main target remains in the house," one of them murmured into his device. "Team Two, proceed with caution."
A Curious Encounter
Outside the mall, Rosa and Sofia walked toward their car. A young man, perhaps a year older than Sofia, stood nearby. His black clothes, mask, and cap gave him an air of mystery. As the family passed, Sofia glanced at him.
"Are you single?" she asked, a playful smile dancing on her lips.
The young man visibly blushed, his gaze darting to the ground. "Y-Yes."
Rosa raised an amused brow but said nothing, letting her daughter enjoy the moment.
The boy watched them climb into their car, then, to their surprise, slid into the driver's seat. Sofia blinked.
"Wait—what are you doing?"
"Don't worry," he said, his voice calm yet firm. "Your brother sent me. I'm here to ensure your safety."
The Barones exchanged a glance but decided not to argue. The boy's demeanor was oddly reassuring, and with the growing sense of unease in the air, they felt safer with someone else around.
Agents in the Dark
At the base of a mountain overlooking Vince's home, an abandoned building buzzed with activity. The squad of black-clad agents moved like shadows, their high-tech visors reflecting the pale moonlight.
Inside the structure, their leader outlined the plan on a digital map.
"Two snipers will be stationed at key points," he said, pointing to the abandoned building and a rooftop near Vince's home. "The rest of us will divide into four groups. Five agents per group. We'll fan out and close in from all sides."
"Mission parameters?" one of the agents asked.
"Capture only. No lethal force unless absolutely necessary," the leader replied. "The subject is highly valuable to the council. Failure is not an option."
The Brewing Conflict
As plans were being finalized on multiple fronts, Vince stood at the window of his study, watching the quiet night. His system's words echoed in his mind.
"You need to become stronger to unlock more information…"
He cracked his knuckles, his lips curling into a faint smile. "I've faced worse in my past life. If they want a fight, they'll get one."
But even as he prepared for the confrontation ahead, he couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning.
